So the smell. It’s horrible. It happens when the defrost is on. So I’ve got the air set for inside. The smell is fine. I have the windshield defrost on. And feet on and or the dash on. The air goes automatically to outside air then smells horrible. I can tell immediately when it changes because the air pressure is less. And it smells horrible. I have to turn on inside air again. Then the bad smell goes away and air pressure ramps up a bit. This happens all the time. If I use only the dash front vents this don’t happen. The air stays on inside. No bad smell. Only when defrost is on with feet or center on does it automatically shut off inside air and go to outside air then smells bad. This smell is not outside smell. Because outside is fine. im desperately needing to fix this smell issue. I took car in before and they changed air filter. No idea which filter. Smell maybe was ok for a bit. Then crummy smell again.

How do I get rid of the oil change prompt without changing oil? I still want to wait a bit.

Is there any way to stop this? why does it do this? It thinks it’s too humid or something? Weird. thanks.

Hi. When I am using my heater/ac and using defrost vents or anything not straight out I have it set for inside air only. It turns this off by itself then there’s a smell. I can tell immediately because the fan speed changes and the smell. I’ll push the button back to inside air. After a bit it’ll go back to outside air by itself. I use the windshield and feet setting. The only time it stays inside air is when using the front vents that hit you in the face. On the display it’s the arrow pointing right. That’s the only time the setting I chose for inside or outside air will stay put. But even then it has switched on it’s own to outside air sometimes. Just not as often. And the bad smell is not an outside smell. I have already had the Ford dealer change a filter but that didn’t help. Temp settings don’t make a difference. This is on my 2013 cmax sel.

Hi. There’s no way to move wires. It’s a big one that’s tight. I’ll show a picture sometime. But I agree I should test them. Thanks for the suggestion. There’s one site. I forget the name. They were selling Sync 3 for $600 with no map. $1200 or so with map. Then they raised the price to about $1200 no map and $2400 for map. Map means built in Nav. I forget exact cost but roughy 3 times higher. They look like a bunch of kids. Not official. So no way of knowing if it’s legit. I would upgrade to Sync 3 with Navigation but don’t know if it’s legit and the cost is insane. I don’t understand how someone can legally sell these. Spotify does play. But not always with track info. Said unknown once. On an Abbott and Costello track. But it does seem to work so far. I’ll try to share a picture of under my glove box soon. I was diagnosed with Shingles last Thursday so my sleep is all messed up and for some stuff it’s hard to think clearly. I’m on Gabapentin to help with nerve pain.

Hi guys. Thanks so much. I can’t access the fuses. There’s no room. Wires in the way. I see the box under the glove compartment tho. Just can’t access it. Music works. I paired my phone like I said. Nothing worked. But I had to I guess re download all Spotify music. I don’t know why since I never deleted any. Seems ok now. But I still have no room with the fuse box. Grr. Is there a legit way to get Sync 3?

Can’t reach fuse. Can’t take box out. No room. I saw the box but can’t remove it and can’t see 79 unless I remove it. Can’t.

Don’t work. Phone connected via Bluetooth. Spotify says it’s playing to Bluetooth Sync. Car radio has no sound.

Thanks. My phone has not been set up with the car Bluetooth. I’d only use that for audio. I’ll try and see what happens. Why would I play Spotify ok then sometimes the car says not supported when nothing changed?

I am using USB. I didn’t know you could do Bluetooth audio. How would I set that up? So why does this work with Apple Music but not Spotify? At least not reliably with Spotify?

This in the manual? I have no idea about the fuses. Haha. Fuses. Like buses but not.

Android won’t work at all. It don’t see anything.

I have the 2013 cmax sel. I used to be able to play music from my iPhone. It would work with Spotify and Apple Music. Music downloaded. Now it won’t play Spotify. Nothing has changed. It just says can’t read. Might be corrupt etc. I have gotten that message many times before today and it would eventually work. I’d unplug the phone and plug in etc. sometimes it would play but not show the song name etc. it’d say not readable but still play. Now it won’t do anything. Apple Music is fine tho.

So the air stays inside when the windshield vents are not on. What gives?

I have the 2013 cmax sel. Can I get rid of the ANC if there really is any? i was in an Acura 2004 MDX and my ears felt better then in my car. I think so. I don’t get it. im scared I have to save for another car because I don’t want to hurt my ears every time I drive. There’s gotta be something that can be done. I hope.

Thanks all. I tried windows down. Not really any difference. But I’m not sure that matters since I’m still in the car and it’s still sealed or whatever elsewhere. BUT,,, I went to my Dr today. I have mucus in both ears with the right Having more then left. My ears even don’t feel good at home now. So he prescribed a nasal spray that may help. He said it might take 4 weeks. I’ll pick it up tomorrow. I guess this makes some sense and seems like it fits. I don’t remember having this problem before maybe Dec/Jan. I don’t know though. Just guessing. So hopefully once my ears are healed then they won’t hurt anymore. My ears do get much worse in the car though then when I’m not in it. So that sounds like a car thing too. I’m guessing. why was mold and a fan or air filter mentioned in the first reply to my post? How does that relate to my ears? It was it related to my other post about the inside or outside air circulation and then having a bad smell? Thank you.

I only have windshield and feet vents open and set. I’ll set for inside air. Drive. Changes to outside air constantly.

Thank you. I wonder does the Ford Fiesta have a similar cabin to the cmax? My moms is 2014 or something. I’m not sure exactly. And my ears felt weird in it too but I don’t think as bad. And how come I just now am noticing this in the last few months? Hmm. Would I hear this noise cancellation thing? This sounds cool cus my ears feel bad in my Bose QCII when I tried the noise cancellation. But I never use it. My ears have a similar feeling. My mom in her fiesta doesn’t have any issues with her ears. Does a 2017 or 2018 Prius have something similar to my cmax? I was in my cousins but can’t remember how my ears felt. I’ll try to leave the driver and passenger window open a few inches the next time i drive later today. I have opened the windows Before but not for long and I can’t remember how my ears felt. could this be my ears have a problem now? And no matter what car I drive I’ll have this problem? Or is it likely the car even though it may be totally normal for this car? And if I drive another vehicle my ears would be fine? i might be able to try a 2018 or 2017 Ford Edge top model I think. My sister has bought it brand new when she got it. And I can try a 2004 or 2007 Acura MDX top model.

I don’t know anything. But I doubt tires. It’s not that type plus the closer my head gets to the windshield it got louder. But it’s harder to hear the last few times I’ve driven so I’m lost.

Anyone please or is this site dead now a days?

When driving my ears plug up. I can’t remember this from before the last couple months or so and I had it two years. I’ll drive and going around corners or acceleration affects my ears a bit. I can tell they feel different. When driving my ears will plug a little towards the bottom of my ear and sometimes fully plug and yawning pops them. This never happened in any other car or truck I drove before my 2013 cmax sel. I was in a Ford Focus lately and noticed my ears got weird but maybe not as bad as in my own car. I don’t know if it’s my ears or car. I’m going to see a dr about this. But my ears should not plug every time I drive when there’s next to no elevation change.

This just started a few weeks ago. I’ve had my 2013 sel 2 years about. There’s a constant sound that raises and lowers based on how fast I’m going. It would be in the midrange freq. it’s not a low bass sound and not high pitched. I can be playing music and still hear the sound when on freeway at 50+ mph. It lowers its vol when I slow down and gets louder the faster I go. One time I was driving and the sound got louder when I moved my head over the steering wheel rather then just normal driving position. It sounded louder the closer my ears got the windshield. This never happened till a few weeks ago and it’s getting worse. Drives me crazy. I’m afraid that when I take it in to Bowen scarf Ford here that they won’t hear it or they’ll say it’s normal. It is definitely not normal. Never happened before.

The button to set air in or outside don’t work in the air circulation button. I set it for inside air. It shuts that off and does outside air. I’ll drive 30 miles and this happens 6 times or more sometimes. I only want inside air cus outside stinks bad. May be air filter in car I don’t know. But every time I set it for inside air it goes to outside air by itself constantly. It should never do this. I’m talking while driving. Not turning car on.

Anyone????
