I get major static and stuff on radio when I change fan speed. I recorded it on my iPhone. It’s on one station. Not sure of others. This is my third ACM. Never happened before. Just noticed it recently.

Got it. Why does the dealer keep changing the ACM? Does Ford even give a dookey? It seems they don’t care to fix it.

Thanks guys. Umm. Can I just replace the HU with one from Car Toys? Or can I get sync 3 cheap somehow? I don’t know if this would help. I don’t know where this fuse would be. I guess you take something off under the glove box or something?

I’ve got a 2013 cmax sel. I’ve had the touchscreen freeze and replaced twice in the last 8 months or so. The touchscreen freezes. Cant change vol etc. shut car off the radio is still on. So battery dies and car is dead. Won’t turn on. This has happened twice this year and happened again today. Each time ford has replaced the acm. They have to again do this. What’s so bad about this that it keeps breaking? I want the sync 3 head unit but ford won’t do it and the only site I’ve seen is shadey and a complete ripoff. Anyway I can’t have this keep breaking every few months. So what’s going on?

Thanks all. What if the street name is just numbers? I don’t know why but I got the system to work. The first time I tried the address to my local social security office I couldn’t get it to work. Then I tried again another day and it worked. I have no idea why it worked the second time but not the first. The address does not have a street name. Just numbers. 156 131st Burien wa 981xx. That’s not the actual address but is how it is. I forget the actual numbers.

Thanks. I don’t want to cover the touch screen. But it might be ok. Not sure. So I guess naaa. I would rather not cover the screen. But then I don’t know how a mount kit would work without covering the screen. I want to be able to use my iPad mini 4 for nav and my Note 9 and iPhone XS if I want. I just prefer not to cover the synch screen if possible. Any ideas? And again truly thank you so much.

I only know how to enter addresses the same way you write them on an envelope. And when the nav asks for something I don’t know what to put. Addresses that have no name won’t work because the nav forced you to use letters not numbers. So I don’t get it.

I want to get a mount kit for my iPad mini 4 and iPhone Xs and Note 9. I prefer the nav on those systems. What is a good kit? I don’t want it to be in front of the windshield cus I need to see. And it can’t be lower then the built in nav screen. But I have no idea what to get. It needs to be high enough so I’m not looking down and not over the windshield. Please help. I have no idea. I have the 2013 cmax sel. How do you put in addresses to navigate? It won’t let you the correct way like 1111 48th pl s city state zip. And when I try to put in one address it literally will not let me. The address has no name. Just numbers. And the nav system forces me to put in names. This system is so stupid I don’t even use it. It needs to let you put in addresses like we do on an envelope. Ford dropped the ball major. A bonehead move. I’m trying to learn how. Even the manual won’t tell you.

The two times the power steering did not work it did not work unless I power cycle the car. Seems that I won’t have any setting for the tire kit. In that thread a 13 SEL owner said he has no setting. I have the same car. Pt, yes I’ve seen your vids. I even mentioned I have several posts ago. They help. Thanks for sharing them !!!!

Hi all. I’m just popping in to give a quick update and ask a couple questions. Why does my car power steering not work sometimes when power on? The first time this happened a couple three weeks ago the car powered on then said have power steering serviced. Extremely hard to turn wheel. I shut car down. Power on again and it’s fine. This happened again tonight but without the check power steering message. Power car off then on and it worked. How do I get my car to stop the service mobility tire message every time I power the car on? I’m never going to use it. So I couldn’t care less and it drives me bonkers having to hit ok every single time I power the car on. This just started within last couple days or even today. And an update on my MPG. Well I reset my lifetime summary about 3 weeks or slightly less after I bought my cmax. I have filled it twice only and that was since sometime in April maybe. The Empower screen shows 44.8 avg MPG. Is that from when I got gas the last time since I reset the trip meter thing or is that since I reset the lifetime summary? And is that pretty good? Tonight I just got home from Enumclaw Washington. I live in Burien Wa. Takes about 55-60 minutes. About half off freeway and then half on I-5 north when going home. Tonight when I got home it said 52 MPG. I’m getting numbers much much better then you guys could remember when I first got it and started asking some questions in here. I’m using cruise more and notice it seems to do an ok job now. I have a question. When cruise is on, a lot of times the screen shows Charging Battery. While I’m driving. Sometimes it says Hybrid. Which is better? Better mileage? Of course it runs in EV a lot to and I know that’s off the battery. Anyway. Thank you all so very much for everything and being kind and gentle with me. I truly appreciate all of you so so much. Joe

Thanks all for being part of this discussion. I’m getting better. I love so much for coming home from Safeway I use no gas. It’s so awesome. And I love some trips have been 85 MPG or 55.5 MPG etc. in the 40s though mostly. It’s a bummer that when I go to my parents it’s got a few big hills. So I get around 35-37 MPG. It varies though. Sometimes I’ll get 40 or so. Other times 37 or so. In the Empower screen it says 43 mpg avg. is that for the tank? Does the car know when you fill it up and reset that? Is there a way to reset avg mpg for since I got the car and not the entire life of the car? How could I keep track from when I got it?

Is it ok to just leave the car in cruise? I have eco cruise on. Or should I manually drop out of cruise to try to kick in ev? I want to just drive and not babysit the thing trying to get into ev as much as possible. I know I can but at what cost.

Thank you so much everyone for conversing with me. This is a great place and I appreciate all of you very much. Two posters above me. My cruise is like that too. I don’t think it’s smart enough. Because when I tap the break the ev comes out and I can drive in ev. It’s weird. Makes me nervous I’m not in ev when I should be. I would love to just drive and not worry about ev. But then my gas mileage would probably suck compared to me paying attention to the empower screen.

That didn’t have anything to do with my last question. But ya I know a hybrid uses gas and a lot of my driving or most is in hybrid and some in ev. What does EV and HIV or whatever stand for?

I have another question. I’m getting a bit better. Even drove from Safeway to my old house for a neighbor. Used no gas. Said 999.9 mpg lol. But once out of parking I turned right and a hundred feet or so was a light. Across the street was all down hill. Three quarters of the way down I turn left into culdesac and his house just a bit on the right. That was awesome. I-5 here sucks. There’s so many hills and the gas is on a lot off and on. But here’s my question. Why won’t the computer in cruise control know when to be in ev mode? I have to tap the break to go out of cruise then the ev bars come and then I enable cruise again or just my foot. Cruise works going to ev downhill after a climb but the computer just seems stupid.

I have already seen your vids. ^^^ I’m getting better. I just drove 22 miles on I-405 north and south in Washington state. Horrific traffic. Worse then city driving. Stop and go for more then half the trip on freeway. I got 49.9 mpg for my trip home. But most of that was way easy since I could only go 5-20 mph and stop a lot. How annoying. On the trip to where I was going it was in the 40 - 45 mpg range. Same stop and go but a bit more driving a bit faster. So I’m slowly starting to get it. I just wish the battery was a lot bigger to be in electric more. And acceleration is so incredibly slow if I want to stay in ev mode.

I can’t afford it either. My parents got me the Acura 2004 mdx Touring back on feb 10. I don’t like a couple issues it has. My dad took it for a test drive. Came back and said he looooves it and wants to make me a deal. So after thinking on it he offered me $10k and would buy me a replacement car but anything over $10k I have to pay back. So I got the cmax. I need the hybrid for gas mileage. I am on disability so I don’t get much money. Less gas the better. In the Acura MDX I had I’d fill up about 150-170 miles or so. That’s highway driving. So with the cmax I can get double that basically. Hopefully I’ll learn to drive better and get 400 miles on one tank.

I drove last night to Safeway. 5am. No ev at all. It’s 0.7 miles away. When I came home I put the touch screen on the screen that shows the car. It said gas on because of heater. So I turned off heater down below by pushing the on off button. Then ev was on the whole way home pretty much. It was maybe 40* outside. When I shut off my car it said 0.7 mile total. 0.5 in ev mode. Is that good? Seems the heater being on is why my car won’t be in ev mode when I first turn it on. But why does it go to ev mode later when the heater is still on if it’s on when I first start the car then leave?It’s set 68* both zone. Is the battery for driving too small to run the heater and be in ev mode? Ford should have put in a bigger stronger battery to let us drive in electric more. Or is that why there’s the energi car? Is it possible to charge the battery by installing something? Like a mod that would keep it over say 75%? Then maybe it could be in ev more? What does it take to accelerate at a decent clip and still be in ev mode? When no ev mode and I got to Safeway it said mpg was 11.4. That’s horrible.

$1500 is a rip-off. $600 just for nav is too. I wonder if 4dtech is just some kids charging unfair whatever they feel like it prices.

There is a site who sells only Ford stuff. They have the sync 3 without nav for $1500 and $600 extra for nav. 4dtech. They have videos showing how to do it and it looks easy. They say it keeps ALL features and screens etc. I don’t know anything.
