  1. Yeah, they say max is 44, but I've got them inflated to just under that.
  2. True. The ones I got are Goodride (*not Goodyear) touring, which are supposed to have low rolling resistance, according this the blurb here: Goodride / WESTLAKE SA07 (quattrotires.com)
  3. New tires put on April 2020. But decrease in fuel economy started more than a year after I got them. And they are inflated to max suggested PSI.
  4. Truth be told, it used to be more like 5.2L/100km in the warmer weather and 5.6L/km in the colder.
  5. I was thinking along the same lines, but I've been monitoring mileage after every trip, and long highway rides are still up over 6L/100km each time.
  6. Sorry, I forgot to add that, yes, injectors were all changed too. So, it started with the check engine light coming on, but no rough ride. But the light stayed on. I have a OBD code reader, and it was a misfiring cylinder. That's when I changed the plugs. Light went off, for a day. Then I changed then coil packs. Light went off, for two days, then came back. Meanwhile, there were episodes were I WOULD have a rough ride: always occurred from a cold start. I'd get a block away from home and the car would shake something fierce and the engine light would flash. I'd turn the car off, then back on, and all would be ok, except the solid engine light. I took it to the dealer. They had it for 5 and a half weeks, couldn't figure it out. Finally got a Ford tech on the job, and they figured something got into the fuel line, so that's when they cleaned out the tank and the fuel line. (they also changed out the new plugs I had just put in for new-new plugs). And they put in new injectors. That seems to have solved it. The car has 176,000 km (so about 110K miles). In the time leading up to taking it to the dealer, the milage went from 5.6L/10 km to about 6L/100km, and now after all the work (and the new air filters and oil change), I'm up to 6.4L/100km.
  7. I have a 2013 SEL. Up until about 8 months ago, I was averaging 5.6L/100km (I'm Canadian...that's about 42 mpg). I was having some misfire trouble, and prior to having the issue properly tended to, my mileage started slipping, from 5.6L/100lm to about 6.1L/100km. Since service was done on the car, here's what I've had done: - all new spark plugs - all new coil packs - new air filters - gas tank cleaned out and fuel lines blown out - oil change - tires inflated Still, with all that, I am averaging 6.4L/100km (36 mpg). So I've gone from 42 mpg to 36. And this isn't a colder-weather issue, either. Could it be that my hybrid batteries (since this is a 2013 we're talking about) are losing their mojo and that could be the cause?
  8. What am I doing wrong? I went to change the rear brake pads. Got as far as starting on the read driver side when I found I couldn't complete the job because I couldn't get the caliper retracted. Was pushing in while rotating it, but it wouldn't go in, so I couldn't fit the housing back on with the new pads in. Is there a trick?
  9. Hi there: Does anyone know if there is a way to turn off the "courtesy wipe"? This is when you spray your windshield and the wipers to their thing...and then there is a brief pause and then they give one more final wipe. While I'm sure loads of people like this function, I HATE IT! I live in Canada, and lots of the time during the winter, I will be following along in traffic and salty misty gets kicked back onto my windshield. I have to use the spray every once in a while to clear, but that final wipe always results in a streak-job that makes me have to spray again. Then repeat. And again. Anyway, long-winded way to ask: does anyone know how to turn this feature off?
  10. Sure, but what do you think: they're doing it to replace, or repair and put back?
  11. Hi there: I thought I'd give you an update on what the deal is. We have a family friend that works at a Ford dealership nearby that does work on our vehicles on the side (the dealership allows him to do these kind of cash jobs after-hours. They're nice!), so I called him and asked if he'd mind checking out my issue. I brought it by 3 weeks ago and left it with him. At the end of the day he called me and said: "Well, I checked it out with a stethoscope and I think it's something to do with the transmission. So, you can come get it, and make an appointment to have one of the tranny guys looks at it." I called to make an appointment the following morning and they told me to bring it in the following week. So I took it in last Wednesday and left it. At the end of the day, the service advisor called and said: "Yeah, definitely seems like something is up with it. You'll have to bring it back next week so I can work on it." (!) SO....I dropped it off this past Tuesday morning, first thing. I did not hear a peep until FINALLY he called me yesterday (Friday) at noon. "Sorry, we were waiting on Ford to get back to us for approval because, well....this vehicle here, we need to take out the entire engine AND transmission. (!) So, you won't be getting it back until the end of next week at the earliest." Son of a.... Now, I initially thought he meant I'll be getting a *new* engine and transmission, but now I'm guessing he means they just have to come out in order to be worked on. In either case, I am considering myself lucky that this happened when it did, considering that my warranty expires on JULY 27TH! Anyway, there you go!
  12. Thank you everyone for the replies. I'm hoping to get her in this week to get looked at. I don't think it's the AC compressor though; I never have it on! And yes, it does vary with ICE speed. From a dead-stop until I hit 40 km/hr (sorry, I'm Canadian) the noise is present and then I'll let off the gas and it's ok. Or, when it shifts out of first (as much as you can tell it's shifting from 1st with a CVT).
  13. Hi there: First time poster! My C-max seems to have recently developed a strange noise ("whining") when I am going from a stop until it gets up to speed (i.e. until it gets to 2nd gear). Also makes the noise when idling if the ICE is on (if heater or A/C is on). Here is a video demonstration. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
