  1. How does the EV+ mode actually save gas over the life of the car? I just started using it a couple of weeks ago, and it seems that running down the battery just gives the ICE more work to do on the next trip. I can see how this would work on a plug-in (about to get home to charge the battery), but on the hybrid? I hope there is something I'm missing here, because EV+ does seem rather cool - just hoping it's useful as well as fun.
  2. Thanks, everyone. pomtrey, I am in Kensington, on the F&G subway lines. roninsd, I should be getting to 1000 miles the next few days - hoping for a mpg boost, and again when the weather gets warmer.
  3. I just saw a C-Max yellow cab in New York City for the first time this morning. There are many Escape Hybrid, Prius and Prius V cabs in New York as well. I thought the C-Max wouldn't catch on in taxis due to less cargo space than the Escape and Prius V, but there is more room than the regular Prius so I guess it's not much of an impediment.
  4. Hi everyone. In December I leased a C-Max Hybrid SE in Tuxedo Black with the 203A equipment package. I previously owned a 2005 Focus and was looking for a little more rear seat room for the kids. I was at the dealership to look at the Escape, but the engine recall had me a bit freaked out and I figured I can deal with a little less cargo room in exchange for much better gas mileage. So far only averaging about 32MPG this winter but I have gotten 42MPG on trips back and forth to Staten Island. The only blip in the experience so far is a left rear door which got stuck and had to be repaired twice. Otherwise my wife and I love the car, and my 7 year-old son will forgive us soon for not getting the even-bigger Escape (hey, at least his knees aren't pressing up against my back like in the old Focus).
