  1. Could you share a few more details like cost? I'm in California & the governor just signed new legislation- see update in original post.
  2. Oh No! One of my clients has an electric BMW & recently had $9k in damage under the hood & they found a mice nest. I researched and found out that most car manufactures are using soy based products instead of petroleum based for hoses, wiring covers and other car components like interior parts/ plastics AND RODENTS FIND THEM TASTY. Client ended up getting another newer but used car (same make & model). She bought some tape made by Honda and had her mechanic (not the dealer) wrap all her hoses & wiring with it. She also puts moth balls under the hood & got a strobe light thing you put under hood and sprays peppermint. She checks daily and found mice dropping under hood of new car but no chewing -yet. I found this article called the Incredible Edible Car with a list of cars reported to have this issue. Cmax is not on the list though- yet. http://www.synlube.com/IncredibleEdibleCar1.htm I just found a dead animal under my hood yesterday and think it might be a cat. I can't see any chewed wires but think that might be thanks to the cat. My mechanic can't look at my car until day after tomorrow.
  3. I am wanting to understand how the 2 batteries work together- the one under my hood and the huge one in back. I have the 2013 Energi and had the battery replaced under warranty about a year ago after car kept going completely dead. No problems until this past week. The issues I had previously, my radio would stop turning on and 2 days later, my battery was dead even though I had been charging it every night. So fast forward.. . no issues since battery replacement until a few days ago, my radio would not come on. Car was on charger all night. 2 days later, I came home & needed to charge car as battery at 0%. I couldn't plug it in it right away and ended up leaving it overnight. Next day, car was dead. I jumped it & thought it would be fine but when I got back into my car after disconnecting the jumper cables & parking the other car I used to jump, it was off & dead again & would not start. Ugh! So is that normal? I ended up charging it again same way and left it for 30 minutes and it started & I was able to pull into my driveway where my charger is & plug it in. Started up fine this morning. I'm mainly just wondering if that's normal or not. A family member has the same car/ year and purchased a portable charger she keeps with her. I just purchased one for myself last night! Hoping was happened was my own fault! Thanks in advance!
  4. So glad you finally got it fixed! I had similar issues & brought it in to dealer 3 times. Each time they went through some diagnostic and said that was all they could do. I ended up finding a bulletin on here regarding my issue and printed it out. They gave me a new battery. The Ford dealer in my area sounds about the same as yours. I have same year as you & love it but wish I could find a newer model.
  5. Hi there- I bought a 2013 C max Energi a year ago (and love it) and was wondering if they get their Catalytic Converter stolen? It's epidemic in my area with the Prius. I park my car in the driveway and just had a camera installed but several neighbors have done the same and still fallen victim w/ their Prius. It wasn't worth it for them to replace so car ended up being a loss. (Sorry if this is a dumb question) UPDATE: In California, the Governor just signed new legislation that will hopefully stop or at least curtail Catalytic Converter theft https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a41380161/catalytic-converter-antitheft-law-california/
