  1. Well..I've had it for almost 5 years and it served me well. Didn't have any trouble with it. It got good gas milage (45+). But my better half wanted something different and being I have a Corvette that I drive when the weather is good, I traded it in for a 2014 Lincoln MKZ. The C-Max had 49,000 miles on it and it was in 3 accidents. Small stuff, hit a deer, someone rear ended me, and someone slid into me, two were when I was stopped at a light, the deer thing I was moving about 30mph. But it was a great car, I couldn't be happier with the way it performed. The Lincoln is also a Hybrid, and so far it seems really nice. Quiet, smooth, and I have to admit, prettier than the C-Max. My wife loves it, so thats all that counts. So, I'm out of here....good luck to everyone, and I hope you all enjoy your C-Maxs' as much as I did.
  2. My Dealership told me it had to be purchased at the time I take delivery of the car. I didn't think that was true, and emailed Ford direct and they got back to me saying I could buy it at anytime, but after 12,000 miles the price would increase substantially. I purchased it just before the car turned 12,000 miles from a dealer out of my state and got 100,000 miles 7 years for $1500.00.
  3. I agree with Fbov, I don't see where it says ICE kicks in to charge the battery, but I can see how it can be misunderstood.
  4. I don't know if you have knowledge of this for sure, or if you are saying it out of what you experience with your car, but I disagree. I don't see the ICE running any extra before I reach my EV+ destinations. All I notice is that once I'm in the EV+ range, the threshold raises where the ICE would normally kick in. I realize that if I were in the EV+ mode all the time, then I would need to charge the battery more often which would result in being in the ICE mode more often probably. But I still think raising the threshold a little bit would help. In very cold weather I notice the threshold is even lower until the engine really warms up, which sometimes takes about 10 miles of my 15 mile drive to work in the morning. This really hurts my gas milage, so I figure if the the threshold were set a little higher in normal weather, my milage will most likely increase. I also disagree with another poster who said the most fuel efficient way of driving is ICE at starting acceleration and cruising in EV. I agree with the cruising part, but I find that I get better milage if from a dead stop, I press on the pedal lightly and let the EV get the car moving first, and then once I'm over about 10 or 15 miles an hour, I press a little more and let the ICE kick in. I feel that if the electric motor gets the car moving first, the gas motor doesn't have to work as hard to pull the car to the desired speed. I have proven this over and over again by checking my gas milage after doing it different ways. Anyway...all of this is just from trial and error and what I notice from experience of driving the car.
  5. Really sad to hear that you don't like your C-Max and that you are having so much trouble. I've owned a lot of new cars in my life....from economy cars to luxury Jaguars, and from sports cars to big muscle car Mustangs. I really loved the muscle cars and hope to have another one some day. But it wouldn't be at the loss of my C-Max. I absolutely love this car and can't see myself parting with it for anything. I love the technology and just the overall "feel" of the car. If I do get another muscle car, it will be "in addition" to my C-Max. I just won't part with this car. So I get very disappointed if thats the right word, when I hear someone who dislikes the car. I have high hopes for American cars, and I really want the buying public to change their opinion of the quality of them. I've been buying Fords for years and I'll put their quality up against any foreign car any day of the week. So...sorry to hear you got a bad one, I hope it was a rare thing.
  6. I realize that EV+ is not a magic thing that will give me better gas milage...all I'm saying is that I feel the threshold for the ICE to engage could be set a little higher. Maybe not as high as it is in EV+ mode...but higher.
  7. I did a search in the forums and couldn't find if this was discussed. I find that in the EV+ Mode, I can accelerate quickly without the ICE engaging so easily. It would seem to me that if I could lock it into EV+ mode, I might get better milage and I can move from a dead stop without pissing off the guy behind me while I'm trying to keep it in the EV mode. And if everything is working correctly, if the battery gets low, the ICE will engage to charge and do its normal thing. It just seems that the threshold could have been set to a higher point. Has anyone explored this?
  8. Brazen...you're very lucky..let me tell you a little story: A few years ago, My wife's sister had just acquired a new pickup and was still getting used to where things were. She was parked in a driveway on a slight incline, and her girlfriend was in the passenger seat. They were about to leave, and my sister in law put the truck in reverse and realized she had the emergency brake on. She reached under the dash to release it, but instead of pulling the brake release, she pulled the hood release. Realizing the hood was unlatched, she got out of truck to close it. Now remember...she still had the vehicle in reverse with the parking brake on. As she was coming around the open door to get back in, her girlfriend said, "Oh look, I found the brake release." and with that, she pulled it and released it. The door knocked my sister in law to the ground and the vehicle ran her over as it quickly went down the driveway and across the street before coming to a stop against a tree. My sister law never came out of the coma and died about two weeks later. To this day...I always reprimand ANYone if they touch anything except the radio while I'm driving the car. So...I don't know the point of my story, except as I said....you were very lucky. Oh..but I should add that on my FFH the parking brake is electric and you can't release it without having your foot on the brake....if my sister in law had that feature, she would still be here today. And I wouldn't feel to this day that her girlfriend is the dumbest person in the world.
  9. Got my check last week. So now I have the rebate...AND I'm getting the 47+ MPG as advertised.
  10. I agree Gary....I'll bring it in soon. It'll probably never happen again...but who knows.
  11. No I looked. It was acting strange even before I put it in gear
  12. Last night...I got in my C-Max, turned the key to start....the engine fired up for a split second and then shut down. (normally in this warm weather the engine would not have started at all until I start driving) I put it into reverse and nothing...I didn't feel that normal grab of the tranny. So I take my foot off the brake and slowly step on the gas...and BANG!!!!! I thought the transmission fell out of the car. It kinda felt like it was trying to go forward and reverse at the same time.....I felt the pull back then the bang and then a pull forward and another clunk. Scared the crap out of me. Anyway...I shut the ignition off.....waited a few seconds and turned it back on again in the normal way like I was starting the car. Everything was normal at that point, put it in gear and drove home. Went to work today...everything was normal. What do you think? Should I take it into the dealer? By the way..it has 13,500 miles and I haven't had any problems up to this point.
  13. I had a Pano Roof in my '09 Mustang GT....I loved it. I miss that car....and I miss the Pano roof too.
  14. I can't really post to my own thread anymore. I moved and I only do 16 miles to work everyday. But I have been getting over 50 on these daily trips.
