  1. Bill: It might be interesting to offer some quick 30 minute webex sessions on various topics to CMax Owners, and those interested. For example: a. Tips how to get the best fuel mileage. b. Getting the most out of Microsoft InSynch c. Navigation System tips d. Maintenance Schedule e. What new owners should do in the first 3 months
  2. I know how to reset the Avg MPG using the OK button on the left side of the steering wheel, but how does one reset the Lifetime MPG?
  3. I'm a former Prius owner and experienced 50+ MPG driving normally on the highway at 65 to 70 mph. I'm hopeful my CMax will achieve close or better once it passes the 1,000 to 2,000 component break in period. Don't get me wrong though, my wife and I truly love the CMax. It drives better (except for the turning radius), feels more solid, rides better and roomier. A hands down superior ride.
  4. Are you being careful when you drive consciously staying in EV mode, or just driving normally? I would like to see my CMax do better with the MPG than the 41 to 43 I've experienced so far with 600 miles.
  5. How were you able to acheive 57 MPG? Was this for a short duration trip or extended length?
  6. Check the discussion here http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/348-high-hopes-for-the-c-max-and-the-extended-warranty-as-a-hedge/
  7. I agree. When my wife and I were discussing our next car, we decided it would be a hybrid first (or electric), and then only a car "made" in America. We wanted to invest our money in America putting Americans back to work. Our little contribution to economic stimulus.
  8. I dug out my paperwork and found the following information for the CMax Hybrid: I. Parts Content Information: a. US/Canadian Parts Content 40% b. Major Sources of Foreign Parts Content: Japan: 25% c. Final Assembly Point: Wayne Michigan II. Country of Origin: a. Engine: Mexico b. Transmission: U.S. Anyone have the same information for the Prius?
  9. On my first visit to a Ford Dealer I noticed on the window sticker the various countries that sourced content for the C-Max. Does anyone have the information? How does it compare to the Toyota Prius?
  10. I too noticed at the dealership when picking up the CMax that one needs to put their foot on the brake to "start" the car, but not put their foot on the brake when shutting off the car otherwise it goes into a battery save mode, or something. I found that I have to be conscious of this change in behavior, since it was different from my 2008 Toyota Prius.
  11. This might be of interest to anyone evaluating the Ford C-Max vs the Prius. http://wot.motortrend.com/ford-c-max-hybrid-and-toyota-prius-v-driven-on-head-2-head-288501.html
  12. Well, I drove away from the dealer in my new C-Max without purchasing the Extended Warranty since $2,825 is a little too rich for my blood. The link above provides some attractive prices. Will chew on them. Heard at the dealer in NY that you pay a "surcharge" if you purchase the Extended Warranty after one year.
  13. This is a posting for Ford Corporate Management as a call to action. Why did the C-Max in NY State not pass certification as a Partial Zero Emission Vehicle in order for people driving alone to gain access to the HOV lane during rush hour? It does not make sense to me. New York's Clean Pass Program UPDATE (October 24, 2012): The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has recently added the following vehicle models to the eligibility list: 2013 Ford C-Max Energi Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) 2012 and 2013 Honda FCX Clarity Fuel Cell Vehicle 2013 Smart fortwo Electric Drive (ED) 2013 Toyota Scion iQ Electric Vehicle (EV) The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is currently issuing stickers for these vehicles. The Ford C-Max Hybrid does not meet the emissions requirement for the program and does not qualify.
  14. I just spoke with the Finance Mgr at the Ford Dealer. The opening price for a 7 year, 125,000 miles, $100 deductible Exenteded Warranty is............$2,825. Wow. That's a lot of money. Politely I declined and said I would wait a year or two and find a Ford Dealer that offers me the best price on the extended warranty. He said he would check with his manager and give me his best price on Monday, two days from now. Stay tuned........
  15. Thanks for the price point. I recall in 2007 when I purchased the Prius the Toyota Dealer offering the 7 year, 125,000 Mile $0 Deductible Extended Warranty for around $1,800. I declined, shopped through the internet, found a Toyota Dealer in the Mid West and purchased it for approximately $1,100.
  16. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Honda Insight. Are you comfortable stating the price you paid for the extended warranty on the C-Max, and the plan you selected (# years etc.)?
  17. The Prius will stay in the family. I purchased an extended warranty (125,000 miles or 7 Years) for the Prius prior to the orignal warranty expiring. I have approximately 82,000 miles on it now and used the extended warranty only once to fix the lock on the rear hatch. So far Toyota has made out better than I have, but there's still 2 years to go. Most likely I will purchase an extended warranty for the C-Max for peace of mind, assuming the price isn't rediculous.
  18. I'm impressed by the C-Max, and hope it's a high quality, reliable product so the good word spreads for Ford. I have a Prius, test drove the CMax, had my wife test drive it, and placed an order. My father, an engineer, always cautioned me about purchasing the first model year of a new auto giving the company time to work out the bugs. I'm "concerned" since it's the first model year and a highly sophisticated piece of engineering, and considering the purchase of an Extended Warranty (125,000, 7 Year Plan) as a hedge in case a problem arises past the standard warranty. The only two negatives; no spare tire (I hope I never get a flat) and the rear seat that for me, is spartan with respect to comfort.
