Wiper Service Mode

Can anyone explain how to put the wipers in service mode?

Basically hold the wiper stalk down while shutting off the car and the wipers will park in the up position.

Or, a the manual states, push the start button to turn on, push again to turn off, and within 3 seconds push the wiper stalk down.  the wipers will come up and stop in the service position.  Tried it, and it works.

Great post, helped me figure this out. In the Energi manual, it states "pull the stalk towards you" [not push the stalk down], which is what was giving me the problem.

While washing my C-Max with the wipers in service mode, I discovered that the wipers could be pulled out away from the windshield.  The wiper arms each have a hinge that facilitates this.  Good for when overnight ice and snowstorms make scraping a necessary the next time you want drive somewhere.

Wiper service mode - good information to have with falling leaves and snow approaching.

 

I found the thread suggesting foam pipe insulation placed between the hood and windshield to keep snow, ice, or leaves from packing inside the deep trough where the wipers reside. Will give that a try this week.
