Tom
Today, I had my first chance to ride in the back seat area of our new C-Max. It is a cold day and I wanted to make sure the rear seat area's console vents were open and delivering warm air. No air! Rotated the dial that I assume opens and closes the vents -- nothing. Asked my wife, who was driving, to turn up the fan speed -- nothing. Pushed the floor control button on the dash board that directs air to our feet -- nothing. What am I doing wrong? HannahWCU
I think the front needs to be set to vent (air comes out of the dash vents).

Tom
Just tried your suggestion and it worked. Thanks again! Funny that the owner's manual doesn't speak to this? Also, I discovered that you can run the dash vents and the floor vent along with the rear seat operation.
JohnnOhio
Check the touch screen for a button that says rear. If c max has this option the botton should be lower right corner of the climate screen
Tom
I have an SE -- as plain vanilla as one can get -- so no touch screen as far as I know. My car still is smarter then I am. But, thanks for the tip. Tom
JohnnOhio
Ok If you figure it out please post the solution. I'm sure everyone would like to know how to turn on the rear vents

HannahWCU
Also, you can actually have all the vents (dash, floor and windshield) working at the same time, just push each of buttons. You push once to turn a vent on, then push it again to turn it off. I posted this in another thread ... if you have the temperature gauge on MyView, when the temperature icon changes from blue to white, your CMax is heated up enough to use EV AND at that point it will also provide heat. I always wait for my car to heat up before turning on the heat, I hate it blowing cold air! Edited March 4, 2013 by HannahWCU

Nor does it have a booster fan for the rear. It's just tied to the dash vents.
dalebunker
Aren't there rear heater vents under the front seats for the rear passengers in addition to the rear vents on the console? When I was looking at the C-Max's I think I saw heater vents...?
TxTom
Checked mine...found that the rear vents on the rear floor push out air when the dash selector is set for the"floor" symbol, and not when the selector is set for the "dash" symbol (unless the "floor" is also selected at the same time). The rear vent likewise pushes out air when the dash selector is set for the "dash" symbol, and not when the selector is set for the "floor" symbol (unless the "dash" symbol is also selected at the same time). HannahWCU
I have an SE and I don't see any "floor" vents in the back seat. Is this an SEL thing?
Tom
The SE has vents on the back of the console that contains the gear shift, parking brake, etc. These vents can be directed up or down.

TxTom
Look under both seats to see if there are plastic vents...my SEL has that and I would think the SE does also. It's not mentioned as an additional item when you get the SEL.
