Ordered My C-MAX!

Recommended Posts

My wife and I took an Amtrak trip across the country last month (I'm a huge train buff), and the last leg of our journey was on the Capitol Limited from Chicago to Washington, DC.  Given the limited CSX routing between the Toledo area and Jessup, I think it's a safe bet my car and I rode the same rails less than a month apart!

Went in to the dealership today to sign all my paperwork.  Price was still $500 under invoice, as agreed to.  However, their cost for the maintenance and extended warranty plans went up slightly...so to make up (most of) the difference, they waived the $100 documentation fee!  (The X-Plan limits doc fees to $100; their "normal" doc fee is $589.)  I was also able to lock in 0% financing for 60 months!  I had to sacrifice the current $1,000 cash back offer, but the 0% financing is worth way more than that anyway, so it's not a big loss.  They're trying to see if I can still qualify for the $400 rebate on the extended warranty, but due to quirks of how inventives are "locked in," it's not a sure thing.

Either way, I think I made out pretty well, because the dealership's finance manager was NOT happy with me as I signed my paperwork -- I took them to the cleaners!  They couldn't upsell me on anything!

All we have to do when Maxine arrives is have my wife sign all the paperwork and drive away!  Easy peasy!

Now, Maxine just has to escape the dreaded confines of TTGX977170 and board the valiant truckly steed for her final journey!   :happy feet:

She's escaped!  TTGX977170 was reported "empty" at 10:57 AM EDT via CSX!  She's on the ground!  Just one more step until delivery!!!

I feel for you, slampro.  And let's be realistic here -- my car can sit in Jessup, MD for a few days or more as well.  You just never know with these things.  Do what I do to pass the time -- read the owner's manual cover-to-cover...yet again! ;)

I'm wondering if I'm being unreasonable here.

When I went in Saturday to sign all the paperwork, my salesman told me there was a "good chance" it'll be here Monday.  So, I figured I'd call Sunday to check the status via Vehicle Visibility to see if it left the railyard in Jessup.  The dealer is open from noon to 5 on Sundays.  I called at 1PM, was told that the sales manager (the only employee that can run Vehicle Visibility) was with a customer, and she took my name, number, and VIN -- she said he would run it and call me back in "a few minutes."  Nothing for two hours.  I called back at 3, asked the same girl if he'd run it yet, she said he was with "another customer," but that she had given him all my info and that he would definitely call me back.  I asked for clarification that I would get a call back before close of business at 5PM.  I was assured that I would.  Naturally, no call.  I tried the dealership again at 4:55PM, but they'd already turned off the phones.

What I'm asking for takes approximately thirty seconds -- maybe a minute if he has to log in first.  I understand closing sales with on-site customers is important, but I don't like being led on or lied to.  I know I'm overly excited about my car, and I know I probably bug them more than I should, but that's no excuse to lie to me and blow me off.  I'm wondering if the receptionist even ever gave him my info at all.

Oh, well -- I'm just venting again!  Trying to call to see if it was delivered overnight, but still answering machine, and it's supposed to open at 9 -- it's almost 9:30!

Can you tell time is standing still for me right now?!?  :)

Rather then go through all that drama, why did`nt have your Local DEalership do a C-MAX specific search for the exact Vehicle you were looking for that was already sitting on some other Dealerships lot?  I found the (exact) Color, Trim (SE) and Option (Package 202A) that I was searching for a a Dealership 150 miles North of me.  I took the 2 hour drive up there with my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE Hatchback, spoke with a Internet Sales Rep who confirmed he had the Vehicle I was looking for in stock and still available.  He put a hold on it.  I drove up on Wed July 31, with my X-Plan PIN # my Postacard with $750 "Private Cash Rebate", added the Nationwide $1000, matching funds, 36 Month Ford Credit Financing at .09%, they gave me within $200, of (top) Blackbook Trade-in value" for my Fiesta and the Deal was Done.  No wait.  The C-MAX was only on their lot for 2 weeks and was Built on June 12. Seems a lot less stressful then awaiting a New car to be Born and Delivered!

It would be a lot less stressful.............if..........the exact car you were looking for was available. I ordered mine and STILL stalked about 200 dealer sites in my area practically every day, looking for a match, in case one became available before mine was delivered. There was never the exact trim/package/color/interior that I wanted. And, since I plan to have the car for a number of years, I didn't want to cave and get something else just for the *instant gratification* factor. Now I'm glad I waited MMM will be too, once his arrives.

Understandable, I special Pre-Ordered my 2011 Fiesta SE Hatchback in early Mar of 2010 and took Delivery July 19, 2010.  Had no choice.  New Vehicle launch and I wanted the Power Moonroof too.  I would have done the same if I waited to order a 2014 C-MAX when the Order Bank opens on Sept 16.  Local Dealer just did an area search and found (2) exact matches for the SE C-MAX I was looking for.  2 were already on the Lot at one Dealership in my 2 preferred color choices and the (3rd) was in route a another Dealership 5 miles away too but was in transit.  They would attempted a (swap) but I knew with an X-Plan purchase, they would`nt have paid to ship my new Vehicle on a Flat-Bed Trailer so I figured I might as well put on the first 125 miles, lol.

MadManMoon that is great news.  We will be waiting for pictures.  Aren't you going to cruise by the dealership tonight and try to catch a peek?  We did that when we got word that our C-Max was ready.  I'm surprised the Mounties weren't called with us stalking the dealer's lot and the straining to see in the showroom windows. LOL

Here she is, at the dealer, in all her glory!

When I arrived, she was right there out front, but sadly they had put a SHEEHY sticker on the tailgate, which I specifically requested they not do.  They took it in the back and removed it.  Also, they installed the cloth floor mats, and put the rubber mats in the rear.  I switched them before I left.

As I said, here was the first song played through Maxine's stereo!

And here she is at home, with two of our other three Fords (the Shelby is hiding in the garage)!

When I picked it up, it had 20.0 MPG.  After a few short trips today, including to and from work, I'm up to 33.0 MPG.  I'm going to reset the lifetime mileage after the 1,000-mile break-in period, and see how we do after that.  My last trip, a short five-mile hop from Red Hot & Blue back to the house with dinner for the wife and I, netted 44.0 MPG.  I think I'm going to do just fine, mileage-wise!

Now time to install the 3.6 SYNC update!   :happy feet:

I was tempted, but the dealer's a long way from the house, and I just finished a three-hour drive from Norfolk back to DC in the Shelby, so I was exhausted!  But I definitely had a hard time sleeping...I was like a little kid on Christmas Eve!

Thanks, Adair!  I am truly smitten with this starship of a car.  She's incredible all around!

I can also confirm that the software updates for fuel economy improvements were installed at the factory, since I was able to hold EV mode at 71 MPH.  She also came with SYNC 3.5.1 from the factory (had the extra hybrid power flow screen), and I spent 30 minutes tonight installing 3.6.2, with no issues.  Phone paired right up, reads my texts to me, voice commands are great.

Today on my normal route home, I hit some pretty heavy traffic.  Between my roaring beast (GT500) and peppy little stick-shift go-kart (Focus), I was generally an aggressive, impatient driver.  True to the George Carlin bit, everyone going slower than me was an idiot, and everyone going faster than me was a maniac.  Today?  Nothing could faze me.  I chilled out in the right or middle lanes, accelerating gently (up to the second bar on the Empower screen, of course!), nice easy braking to get the 100% score...and whaddya know, I got home more relaxed and in a better mood!  This car is therapy!

Tomorrow's my first official morning commute in rush hour traffic.  I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to some traffic -- helps me build more battery charge thanks to braking regen!  :)
