Along the back window on the sides it seems there should be some trim to hold it in place. Seems it will start sagging. It no longer tucks in or wraps around the edges. Anyone else? I seem to recall noticing the front windshield gap before having the headliner fix. I think that's just how it's designed. Can't speak to the back window area; it seems OK to me as is. Took exactly 3 hours from when I dropped it off to when I was called that it was ready. Headliner looks exactly the same, and can't tell what was added. Singoffpitch Posted August 23, 2014 Report Share Posted August 23, 2014 Was planning on buying a cmax last Saturday and just getting it done that day, as my wife's about ready to have a baby. So that day I found out about this recall from the dealer. The dealer, as it seems to be their nature, didn't feel the need to tell me they couldn't sell a Cmax on the phone when I was going over details. They waited until I drove there to tell me. Seemed to be a pattern, earlier in the day I had gone to another dealership and was showed the car, was offered a test drive (!) and spent 1/2 hr going over pricing. There was no mention of the recall or that they were not able to deliver the car ( for who knows how long!). Not exactly straight forward and honest, guess they'll do anything to get you there in person, so they can work their magic. I drove home that day a little frustrated. After my anger had subsided, and I had thought about it, we did end up putting a deposit on the car from the second dealer. Their discount was great for a regular car and amazing for a hybrid. They also had the exact car w/ options I wanted, so figured why not lock it in. Anyway, don't know about you, but I expect the parts & repairs to take longer than they think. Hopefully the fact they aren't selling any will light a fire to get the parts delivered. But seems like these things take longer than the estimates you're given, right? I didn't realize it had already been announced prior to that - why were they able to sell it that way? It ended up being a nightmare to get the recall work done - they initially refused to give me a loaner car despite it taking 2 days for the repair and then they got grease on my brand new car's ceiling at all 4 corners of the car (still there). Maybe this recall on day 2, the wrench warning light and fuel tank malfunction on day 7, and the change in the car's 47 mpg to 42 mpg two weeks after I purchased should have all been warnings of what was to come. I LOVE my C-Max, but the hassles of all the days without a car and time at the service center for warranty repairs and recall repairs is crazy for a new car! It's to be expected with a new model and all new cars have updates available for the control modules.New models always have a few recalls, even if they're nothing more than a control module recalibration. Jus-A-CMax Posted August 23, 2014 Report Share Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) DD is right, Singoffpitch. Ford won't be the only one to do recall and not the last, even with a NEW model. Look at the Prius - how many generations did Toyota have in this car and they have far more recalls and more SERIOUS recalls than the CMax. As for loaners, if your car was an high end Aston Martin or even a Jaguar, the dealer would not hesitate to give you a loaner. I know, thats what Galpin does for my Jaguar. Galpin Ford, being more mainstream aka common, low end market cannot afford to have a loaner each time a Ford comes in...but there is nothing to stop you requesting it, all they can say is "no"...like trying to date a girl ;) Edited August 23, 2014 by Jus-A-CMax Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I still love my C-Max and have no problem with the recalls. They have all been improvements in performance and/or safety, so what more can you ask of an auto manufacturer? People forget that this is fairly new technology for Ford and they want to make sure that they get it right. Also, when was the last time that a car manufacturer gave all of the owners of a model over $900 in rebates to make good on their mileage promise? I really gave Ford some kudos for admitting their mistake and backing it up with cold,hard, cash! I have owned many cars in my 68 years and I can honestly say that my C-Max is at the top of my list. No, it can't compare in luxury or ride to my Lexis 400 LS, but the C-Max is so right for our times and does so many things right, ie., comfort, ride, leg and head room, power, mileage, fit and finish and overall utility, that I really think it is one of the best midsize cars on the market today.
