dtorres
I purchased the keyless entry keypad add-on accessory from Ford for my 2013 C-Max and was having a hard time programming it to the car by following the included instructions. After some trial and error and Google searches I found the right combination to program it. This method is for an SE model that has a key and ignition. Not sure how the process works on the SEL model with keyless entry. 1. Close all doors and buckle the front safety belts. 2. Use the door lock control switch to electronically unlock all door locks. 3. Turn the ignition from the OFF to RUN position 4 times in rapid succession (within 6 seconds), with the fourth turn ending in OFF. NOTE: If no action is taken within 10 seconds after a transmitter has been programmed, the programming sequence ends. NOTE: Despite the instructions the door locks will not lock and unlock to signal the vehicle is ready to be programmed. 4. Within 10 seconds, press any button on the RKE transmitter to be programmed. After the first RKE transmitter is programmed, press a buttonon each subsequent RKE transmitter to be programmed (each within 10 seconds of each other). Finally press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons on thekeypad at the same time for one to two seconds then release them. NOTE: Despite what the keyless entry keypad instructions say the door locks will not cycle locked then unlocked after programming eachtrasmitter. On the C-Max there will be no notification after each device is programmed. NOTE: If programming mode is exited and no key is learned, all keys (if one or two were programmed) are erased for RKE transmitter operation. 5. Exiting the programming mode is accomplished if one of the following occurs:- The key transitions to the RUN position.- 10 seconds have passed since entering programming mode or since the last RKE transmitter was programmed.- The maximum number (8) of RKE transmitters have been programmed. 6. Check the operation of the transmitter. If the door locks do not respond for the programmed RKE transmitter(s), wait several seconds and pressthe button again. scottfisher
what was cost for the RKE and does it just simply attach to door with tape and is it wireless ?
dtorres
It's around $80 from multiple sources online. It sticks with 3M adhesive tape. It's strong stuff the one on my '06 Escape was on for 6 years and never came loose. It is wireless and has its own internal battery. scottfisher
Performed install yesterday, followed directions enclosed in box, basically, you follow same as 2012 Focus and many other models, uses the 4 turn sequence, 2 things I noticed. 1. You do not have to buckle seat belts.2. After 4th turn, no chime, just begin process, do both keys and then the keypad, done in 1 minute once you get past glitches in directions. different drummer
Just want to mention that my dealer told me there's been a problem with the add-on keypads not working well on the SELs with their Intelligent access/pushbutton start (or on other Ford cars with IA). Unless Scottfisher has the SEL, in which case...nevermind. Edited December 2, 2012 by different drummer
LesPhelps
Anyone have success installing the keypad on a C-Max SEL? I've tried with no success. I can't find a way to enter programming mode. Les
LesPhelps
The parts department supervisor at the dealer where I purchased my C-max researched the keyless entry pad. What he was told was that the keyless pad is not compatible with C-Maxs equipped with the push button start. In lieu of that, he suggested a $65 security key to be kept in my wallet or outside the car. I haven't looked it up in the manual yet but my car seems to unlock the driver door if I have the fob near the outside of the door and pull the handle twice. Once your skin touches the inside door handle, it will unlock. it just takes a second, I wait until I can hear it unlock and then pull once. If you are too quick, then you would have to pull twice. To lock, use the key or push the black square on the outside door handle. My parents have this misconception that the car automatically unlocks when they get close to it because every time they pull on the handle it opens, but that's because its unlocking as soon as you touch it. hreppert
Many thanks to DTORRES for the contribution. it worked like a charm for me and I supplied my dealer with the following after he gave up on trying to follow the Remote Keypad stock instructions:2013 C-MAX HYBRID SERF Keypad Coding Instructions for 7L2Z-14A626-BA Actuator Assembly From driver’s seat:Fasten front seat belts, place shifter in PARK and arrange to operate the 2 integrated key transmitters (IKT) that came with vehicle and the Remote Keypad to be programmed. Unlock doors with one of the key transmitters Insert a transmitter key in ignition and quickly cycle ignition switch from OFF to RUN 4 times ending in OFF position. Press door lock button on each of the two key transmitters in succession. Then, press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons on the Remote Keypad simultaneously for 2 seconds. Note: Contrary to instructions that came with the Remote Keypad, the door locks will not cycle during this procedure nor will there be any notification after each device is programmed. Button lights will go out on remote keypad 10 seconds after the last operation.Test remote unlocking operation of IKTs and remote keypad using the 5-digit factory code.Test relocking operation by pressing 7/8 + 9/0 keys on keypad simultaneously.Test power lift gate operation (if equipped) by pressing 5/6 key twice on remote keypad Program personal 5-digit code into remote keypad as follows:Enter 5-digit factory code (9/0 button will flash once to indicate programming mode)Enter 5-digit personal code. (9/0/ will flash twice to confirm code is accepted)Remote Keypad will now operate with either the factory code or the personal code. This is customer-supplied information.Harry Reppert (repp821@gmail.com)
eslaymaker
Please see this notice in regards to the 2014 C-Maxes being put into the "programming mode" for the remote keypad. It was taken off of a Ford Focus forum. It worked like a charm. I also had the key in the "Off" position after the 8th turn. We have changed the number of key cycles for programming keys/keypads to eight times from the original instructions to cycle the key four times.Looking forward to hearing from you.Todd __________________FORD SERVICEp: 800.392.FORDt: @FordService @FordFocus @Fordf: facebook.com/FordFocus facebook.com/Ford
eghilton2
Any up dates to add this to a 2014 SEL, does not have remote start, has push button start, could not get to program. Even dealer tried and no success.
