fotomoto
I love the hands free lift gate feature and use it a lot; especially when grocery shopping. While unloading at home, I usually touch the convenient close button on the upper left side of the open gate; however, the last items are typically the heaviest and/or cumbersome (large bag of bird seed, case of water, etc). Well, it finally dawned on me to try the kick feature to close the door. DUH! :banghead: Works like a charm. <quietly leaves room> salsaguy and spyburn
wab
Our kick to close has always worked better than the kick to open. Before the software upgrade kick to open rarely worked, it works most of the time now.

lowbar
The kick to open / close is great. One of those features that once you have you wouldn't want to live without. My wife had our dachshund at the vet one day this week. When returning to the car the dog was on a leash and they walked behing the car. The dog walk under the rear bumper and opened the hatch (wife had her fob in her purse). My wife said she stood there and laughed. Noah Harbinger
I think my kick-to-open didn't catch once, since the update.

On the plus side, the feature that stops the lift gate from crushing you works just fine!
C-MaxSea
Sure glad we did not have to read headline "Cat Crushes C-Max Owner". :) Trust it did not hurt. Cats! nick spyburn
fbov
Who needs a cat? I opened and closed it several times while installing the trailer hitch! Now I kick the hitch to open, as it blocks the sensor... no more cat issues!Frank spyburn
Adrian_L
For about the first two months of owning the car, I didn't realize the button on the left side of the open door was there to close the rear hatch. To close the hatch, I awkwardly reached up to push the button above the licence plate. Now that's a "duh" moment! I guess the kick feature is good if you have your hands full, but I find double clicking on the fob to be easier.
timwil56
The kick to close also works when you're sitting on the bumper taking off your golf shoes and you swing your other leg under the bumper, you don't hear the closing tones and the tail gate comes down on your head. spyburn
C-MaxSea
Tim, you need to reprogram the lift gate to yell "FORE" when closing. ;) spyburn and timwil56
