fub4r3d
For the past week and a half, my 2014 SEL has latched onto a single text message that I received 6-8 months prior to purchasing the car and repeats it for every new text message coming in and pops an entry into the list of text messages for the old entry and the new entry (although it will never read the new message to you) This issue seems to have come up after 1.5 weeks of completely normal operation and I'm running shy of things to try short of fully resetting the entire MFT system to factory. So far I have: Unpaired/repaired my phoneCleared the offending message from my phone (Nexus 4)Power cycled the phoneDeleted all messages from the phone and those in MFTTried with my work Blackberry (still getting the same message from my Nexus 4... Leaning towards a MFT problem over the phone)Deleted my wife's paired iPhone 4s Has anyone experienced anything like this? It was working flawlessly for about 10 days and now its dead set on asking me to call my aunt for every message that I get... I looked at the device compatibility sheet and text messaging was not a "supported feature" for the Nexus 4, but damned if it wasn't working before! fotomoto
WOW, this is a new one on me. Yeah, I'd try the factory reset for sure. Maybe clear the cache out of the phone and message apps too.
Kelleytoons
Wait. Maybe the problem is simpler -- have you called your aunt yet? Otherwise, yeah, I think a reset is about all you can try now (hopefully that will fix it -- otherwise it's haunted).
FordIVTteam
Hey fub4r3d,I suggest a master reset and reboot of your phone, then pair your phone as normal. Here is the link to the reset instructions:http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/perform-master-reset-sync-myford-touch Let me know if that corrects this.Rebecca
fub4r3d
I tried a master reset on the car, a reboot of my phone, clearing the cache and data from the app (Google Hangouts, but it resysncs some stuff based on my google account), and even calling my aunt! Still, no luck. I did, however narrow down the problem a little further - if I use the right toggles on the wheel to select "listen" from the right screen in front of me, I'm told to call my aunt. If I hit the "listen" button on the main MFT screen I get the proper message read to me... Its quite strange as I get new entries in my messages in MFT from my aunt as if she had texted me at the exact same time as someone else and using the steering wheel toggles, the car thinks it has 2 messages coming in (it gives a different option in the main screen when there are multiple messages). I'm going to try pairing a friends Nexus 4 on Monday and see if I can replicate the issue. Outside of that, I'm stumped short of calling in a priest (or throwing in the towel and going to the dealer).
FordIVTteam
Google Hangouts is not a supported app by SYNC. Try switching it back to the default app your phone came with. Here's how:Settings > Wireless & networks > More > Default SMS app Let me know if that helps.Rebecca
fub4r3d
Google Hangouts is not a supported app by SYNC. Try switching it back to the default app your phone came with. Here's how: Settings > Wireless & networks > More > Default SMS app Let me know if that helps. Rebecca Thanks for the update Rebecca, but I find this strange as SMS works through the center MFT screen with 0 problems. These aren't Google Hangout chats (ie: chat protocol over a data connection) as I can confirm that those do not work, but they are SMS messages which have been integrated into Google Hangouts as of Android 4.4 as the default messaging service on Android phones. I temporarily switched back to the previous SMS client on the phone, but the issue still exists while using the right screen/controls on the steering wheel. I will have the dealer look at it when I eventually bring the car in during the first 12 months.
LizM
I have another suggestion, though not sure if it's a great one. Have you turned your bluetooth off on your phone for a few hours and then turn it back on. I had some trouble a few months ago, not getting text messages and it was suggested that I try that and it worked. I also have noted that if I don't open a text message on my phone..say I just happen to be looking at my phone when it comes in and it doesn't need a reply...this message will come over my mft at any time just out of the blue, even a week or two later. But once I go into my phone an open the text message, it seems to stop doing that.
bigalpha
Can I piggyback on this thread a little? Does your 'stop notifications' for SMS texts stay enabled? I will turn off alerts through the phone menu on the MFT but it never lasts.
Madmax98
Having odd issue, trying to avoid master reset 2013 Energis/w 4.3.13171 - allegedly latest up to date software.I do have sirius trial account - not sure if issue there. Apple iphone6 ios 8.3 up to date. blue tooth notifications on,Unread text message showing on my phone. When I send sync command 'Listen to Text Messages'it will say 'Message 1',but then it will not read any of the message. Message is 1 word "Regular". tried unpairing, repairingtried key cyclingtried reset phonetried restart phone called ford help and all they gave me so far was - try master reset. I really don't want to go through the 24 hour connection headache for myford mobile which they say I will lose with master reset. Anybody got any success / similar story and resolution ? Thanks! Podivin
It may not make a difference, but try 'read text messages' as your command. That works in mine (2014 regular C-Max, not an Energi) Edited June 9, 2015 by Podivin
Madmax98
sync responds to 'Listen to Messages' command with 'Message 1 : " .......", so she knows there's a message to be read, she announces that she's about to read the message, but she can't seem do the text to speech of the actual message content , so she says nothing.... FordIVTteam
Hi Madmax98, Was this working prior to updating your phone to 8.3, and is it only that one message that's not working? Rebecca
Madmax98
Hi Madmax98, Was this working prior to updating your phone to 8.3, and is it only that one message that's not working? RebeccaThanks for reply Rebecca. This was first time I tried. Curiously, I just got my Energi to finally read me a new text message.Only seems to be able to read the brand new messages received WHILE connected to sync. It's a start..... ;)
FordIVTteam
LOL That was going to be my next question! Either way, I'm glad you got it figured out. Holler if you have any other questions. :) Rebecca
