mtb9153
Tried to start Maxus and I got a triangle with an exclamation point inside on the drivers display, also a check engine light came on and no start. Shut off the start button waited a few seconds, tried again and same thing. Waited a few more and third try worked. Hasn't happened again and hope it doesn't. Anybody else had anything like this? wab
You should have a/some error code/s. Do you have a OBDII code reader? If not your favorite should be able to read it and maybe tell what it means. If you have one let us know. fbov
Or look in engineering mode... hold the left OK button on the wheel when starting. Scroll down for error codes.Frank
RobMax
Sounds like the Safety Alert, according to the owner's manual. Absolutely no info in the manual past that description though.I always forget about engineering mode. Still haven't tried it yet, but on my list of things to do. Let us know what you get figured out Mike. I wonder if it could be something as simple as a gas cap not being tightened completely.
mtb9153
Thanks everyone for your comments, I will give the engineering mode a try and see what happens?
bemyax
Yes, I can produce the error, fairly reliably, I think. All I have to do is leave my OBD reader active by keeping the Torque application open. If I start the car and try to drive away, the car computer crashes, my heart jumps up into my throat, and I get the warning to pull over safely. You would have to pay me to do it on purpose, however. Let us know if you can find any error codes generated. When it happened, I didn't look for them before a normal restart. Maybe you have a cracked control module. (You know, from doing jumps in Maxus. )
joe
This happened once to me over a year ago. I left the car over night and the next morning it started right up.
mxanotcar
Might be I have the same error that happened last Sunday morning. Turned on my car to move to different spot of parking, drove a very short distance, and as soon as the ICE kicking in, there were two lights: one is orange symbol and one symbol is red (cannot remember what symbols looked like, but they were above the organe engine light picture which was off). And a small box came up showing something like "stop the car to safety?????". I turned the key off and back on, still the same error. I took the key out and locked the car, and about 1hr 30mins later I had to drive somewhere, turned on the car and drove as normal, the error have not been shown up since. . .. .. Bizzzzzzaaaarreeee .. .. . . .. . .About 32K miles now. Does anyone do some kind of post like: bizarre things that a CMAX does.
Kelleytoons
Considering a computer (or three) is running things inside these cars it doesn't surprise me at all. Having been in IT for nearly half a century nothing a computer does or will do will ever surprise me. And unless it's something that can be (easily) repeated I don't think I'd think twice about it (can't tell you how many times we'd get tech calls about things that we could *never* reproduce again).
