mtb9153
We recently bought a second CMax this time an Energi. It is used but very clean for a 2015 with 40,000k. Looking it over I notice the clear headlight lens has this foggy or cloudy appearance inside I believe. Looking at Maxus headlights I notice it as some of this too but much less. Does anybody else have this and it there a way to remove it? Thanks
Tom
I just checked my 2013 -- clear as the day we bought it.
plus 3 golfer
With 338 miles shy of 100k miles (there goess my Unique Hybrid Components Warranty), mine are also clear.
mtb9153
thanks all for the feedback, its just an area of the lens which appears to be foggy, sort of like if you breathed onto a bathroom mirror, only it doesn't go away in time. I just hope that it doesn't continue to expand and the entire lens becomes cloudy and dull, sort of like the theres a big cataract.
ptjones
Is it parked in the sun? You may have to do some polishing on it. Paul kyledamron1 and obob
Bill-N
Mine are fine, too. Born 6/12, 70+k miles.

Paul This web page pretty much asserts what you said. http://www.motorweek.org/features/goss_garage/clearing_up_cloudy_headlights ptjones
mtb9153
Paul, to answer your question the only time the car is in the sun is when it sits at work. The fogging seems to be from the inside of the headlight assembly. So polishing would be impossible. Edited June 14, 2018 by mtb9153
ptjones
It is possible to take out the headlight assembly and take the light out and wash out the inside. Not that much of a job maybe. :) Paul
plus 3 golfer
Headlamp assembly is easy to remove (two screws) for replacing bulbs but I don't believe the assembly comes apart. One can remove the assembly and look if there's a way to dissassemble it. If not, here's a video on how it's done through the holes for the bulbs. Need a "picker", lens cleaning solution, and "magnetic" cloth. Simple, if one has the correct tools. :) Edited June 14, 2018 by Plus 3 Golfer ptjones
SnowStorm
Well, well, magnetic wash clothes - how cool is that - learn something new every day. But weren't the old "sealed beams" a lot simpler and cheaper? ;)
ptjones
For telescope mirrors they spray CO2 on the surface and it removes any residue easily, probably not easy to get one. :headscratch: Paul

Sure you can remove the bulbs but not separate the housing back shell from clear outside lens. ptjones
ptjones
You could do everything through the light bulb hole. :headscratch: Paul
