captaineddie
My wife's car is doing some weird things. The headlights aren't coming on when the wipers do and we went out to the car this afternoon to find all of the windows were down! Has anyone else encountered these problems? We already had an appointment for the light problem, but now we have to add the issue with the windows, too. (SEL with all options)
C-MaxJaxon
Not sure if this helps, but these are the relevant sections from the Owners Guide. Page 91:AUTOLAMPS (IF EQUIPPED)Note: It may be necessary to switch your headlamps on manually in severe weather conditions. The headlamps will switch on and off automatically in low light situations or during inclement weather. The headlamps will remain on for a period of time after you switch the ignition off. You can adjust the time delay using the information display controls. Note: If you switch autolamps on in conjunction with autowipers, low beam headlamps will illuminate automatically when the rain sensor activates the windshield wipers continuously. Page 96:Global OpeningNote: The ignition must be off and the accessory delay feature must not be activated to operate this feature.Note: To disable this feature, contact your authorized dealer.Press and hold the unlock button on the remote control to begin opening the windows. Release the button once motion starts. The windows will continue opening. Press the lock or unlock button on the remote control to stop motion. Laurel
I thought it had to be heavy continuous rain before the autolamps would come on with the auto wipers. Maybe you pressed against the unlock feature on the fob while it was in your pocket? When you hear hoof beats, think horses and not zebras. I find any glitches that I have had have been operator error--not to say there are no gremlins in the C-Max <g>. JohnTrigger
Headlights: Do you have the "auto light rain" turned ON in the Settings/Vehicle/Lighting display (see approx page 122 in owners manual)? Windows: As stated above, did you press and hold the unlock button on the keyfob? Laurel
captaineddie
I know the service manager where we bought the car and he agrees that the headlight issue is going to require troubleshooting (about 3-4 hours on Tuesday). He tried to get the lights to come on in a downpour with the wipers in both the automatic and manual positions--nothing. On the windows, he's as amazed as I am. There was no way we hit any buttons. Neither of us carry our keys with us.

As to the windows all being down--the fact that the car has a "feature" to put them all down strongly suggests someone triggered it with the remote control. I know from personal experience just how easy it is!!!
Tom
My key fob control no longer works to lower all the windows when I hold the unlock button down a second time. Any similar experiences out there? Fixes? Tom
fbov
Battery?
Tom
Battery? It may be. My wife's key fob has the same results so I thought it might be something else. I think I'll replace our battery before I go to the dealer.
