Thanks for the info. It seems like their quote of $156 is a total rip off then. That puts it at about $300/hour for the work.

Anyone else make a 2" hitch? I have a Thule rack I want to use from my Flex.

You may find this thread of use.

http://fordcmaxhybri...hitch/?hl=hitch

I installed this hitch, and given what I learned beforehand, I agree it's about a 30 minute job... the second time. Learning curves are hard to avoid. My only tip involves that little tab you need to bend. I used Vise-Grip pliers to get it started, and a rubber mallet to complete the bend, with little paint damage. Really like the 3-point attachment, but it does interfere with the "kick" tailgate.

Have fun,

Frank

Thanks, very helpful. I may attempt in a parking lot somewhere in LA.

Also the  Curt recommends using their stabalizing strap for any "non-trailer" load like a bike rack or Thule box.  Have you used one or just have the box mounted in the hitch?  Thanks for any info!!

Tom

I've got the Curt and don't use any stabilizing strap on my bike rack.  The bike rack doesn't use a hitch pin but rather a bolt that goes through the receiver and bolts into the hitch, with a lock on the otherside.  No need for any additional stablization with that type of set up.

I got the 2" Eco hitch and my neighbor and I put it on in about 30 minutes.  Had to have help to hold the hitch up while starting the bolts.  Everything fit exactly as shown - just had to bend and then paint the tabs on both sides.

I have a 2 inch echo hitch with this glide away rack on it. No problems after 2 and half years and counting.

You still like this rack?  Im thinking about buying it... did you have to drill holes for the hitch at all, and where did you find it?

I recieved a quote from my local trailerama dealer here and they said a Reese hitch 1.25 olny is $184 plus 100 to install plus tax, but the reese site has instructions that require drilling, any ideas with this?  Also, im looking for a decent bike rack for 2 mtn bikes and the advantage sports swing daddy looks ok, but really cheap... on REI they have alot but they are incredibly pricing, any suggestions?
