I wouldn't go that far but I did buy it because I liked the way it drove and it was the right size, not because I wanted a hybrid. The focus st has a lot more power but I didn't care for the view from the interior.

Where are the negative results you mention? Links? There are no downsides from what I've seen. I'm easily averaging more mpg after the update, in the same city.

Don't know if I'll break 600 or not.

Why hybrids often deliver lower mpg than advertised
Jmonty replied to darrelld's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Oh wow, the MPG changes are with the software update. That's even worse. People were getting well over the rated value in city driving previously. That's surprising to me. -
Would you buy the CMax if the advertised MPG was below 47/47?
Jmonty replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
i get 50+ mpg here often but pre-update it was impossible to get "47 mpg" at highway speeds (65-75+ mph) on level ground. defending that rating is just laughable. -

irrelevant. the rating was misleading, bottom line, which even Ford admitted with the new changes. 35-37 mpg vs 47 mpg is a huge difference. -
haha they probably don't even consider attempting to beat someone off the line. #drive it like you stole it and, hopefully i'll hit 600 miles with this tank for the first time. depending on how my wife drives it today, but she's usually pretty good.

Finally! This evening I found myself stopped at a red light next with a Prius V right next to me. so, I was able to show off the acceleration potential of my mighty CMAX :yahoo: I left that car so far behind, lol  and I still made 54+ mpg on an over 30 mile trip. earlier in the day it was 65 mpg but the ole lady was nagging me to speed up on the way back of the 2nd trip. now if I could just upgrade my stereo and get some window tint I'd be almost completely satisfied. (well, that and some aero mods for better interstate mpg)
-
First leg of my trip this afternoon was uphill on the interstate, 33.x mpg. On the way back though: Took side streets, was a nice gentle downslope all the way. average of about 64 mpg is nice :D

Hmmm. I'm at 300 miles and 6.5 gallons used. Might make it......

I'd still get it. Day to day I could potentially get 50+ mpg, if I didn't use ac, left a few minutes earlier for work etc. The idea of 47 mpg on the interstate really sold me, too bad that was complete bs. -
Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid

Beautiful! I figured out how to get 50+ mpg to and from work, but I doubt I could keep that up for a whole tank of gas. -
The way back from work should more than make up for the way in. I bet you can get mid 50s if traffic doesn't cause you to rush.
-
I might have finally figured out a way to average over 50 mpg to and from work :D Usually in the way in I only get 35-40 but I went a round about way with less traffic this morning.

Nice! My lifetime is 37.9 MPG, because it's still recovering from 2,800+ miles @ 70-80 MPH (35-37 MPG). It's ticking up slowly but surely though. -
lol Y'all should get another check for $550 in exchange for a testimonial in a commercial
-
If I had been a little more patient and/or more willing to go without air conditioning I might have made it: I thought I only had about half a gallon left. Should have re-Googled the fuel capacity. The update was made about halfway through the tank so the next tank should be a breeze :D

I was not expecting this:

For 2015 I can't wait to see the new style Mustang +with the turbo four) and the aluminum f150 with a natural gas engine.

you need some compression bags for those sleep kits to shrink them down and have more room :)

Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid

ah, when i get ~35 mpg in town one way (uphill) i usually get 50-60+ mpg on the way back (downhill, depending on traffic). there are a lot of long and steady elevation changes around there though. -

Hmm That's a good idea. I think I'll put my $550 into Ford stock :D -
Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid

I don't see how 29 mpg would even be possible in our cmax. I've seen about that on short hops where I've accelerated quickly with no coasting, but even at 75-80 (before the update, in the rain, with family) I got 35 mpg. Didn't someone figure out the 29 mpg figure was from a European non hybrid? -

You'll notice improvements around 1000 and 5000 miles. And, as you adjust to the car you'll get better numbers. -
