I had an interesting upgrade install experience! I must have been one of the first at the dealership in Roseville, CA. They tried 10 times to upgrade, over 2 hours, and it 'would not take'. They even said the car's computer was wiped clean and they were going to have to give us a rental (were were going to SF and had a schedule to meet). Finally, they called a Ford Tech Line, and discovered that they were using the wrong "hardware hook-up cable" between the laptop and the car's PCM. Apparently, because it was originally installed as the older version (prior to June 26) and was being upgraded, it required a different hardware hookup than a newer install (after June 26), being upgraded.... not exactly sure of the details, and I might have some of the facts incorrect, but there were 2 different part numbers for the different hardware hookups. Bottom line, it took on the first try with the new configuration -yeah! I've only got 500 miles on my Max, so I'm still learning the ropes, but I did get 48 mpg for a good portion of our trip to SF, so I know the upgrade is working well (and I've getting EV mode in many instances up to 70mph+). Only bummer is that once I get to the Sierra Foothills (where I live), I'm up and down a lot of steep grades (8 - 12%) and getting about 38 mpg - hope to be able to improve on that....

New FSA Notice 13C02 - HEADLINER HEAD IMPACT PROTECTION
jtheat replied to ceemax71's topic in Maintenance, TSB's & Recalls
There's nothing in the final paperwork that specifically says any of the updates were done, but they can't sell the car without the updates completed. We had that very conversation. I am assuming the PCM didn't 'take', and the techies were unaware of it, as I might have been one of their first. I don't feel that it was on purpose, just not the best oversight on the upgrade. -
Picked up my new car today... they said they were doing the 13B07 and 13C02 before I got there for the car, but on the way home, noticed the EV would not kick in above 62 mph. My SA assumed it was upgraded, as we talked specifically about this feature with the upgrade.... now it's 1.5 hours back to the dealer (I live in the mountains away from the city). I am still very happy with the car, just getting it up to spec has been a hassle. Does anyone know if the ETIS site is updated immediately when the upgrades are completed? The site still shows the 2 upgrades are still required, and it's been 12 hours since the work was supposedly completed... thanks.

New FSA Notice 13C02 - HEADLINER HEAD IMPACT PROTECTION

My SA was out with an injury for 10 days, and the sales team was off the beginning of the week after doing 10 days on, so one call to another SA made it happen.... picked up the car today.... headliner done, but they didn't do the 13B07 upgrade... aargh! I live 1.5 hours away, so this means another trip to the city. During the purchase test drive, we never got over 60, so didn't notice that the upgrade was incomplete. My SA (who was back) assumed it was completed as we directly discussed running in EV up to 75mph with the re-calibration. Guess I was too naive... Does anyone know if the ETIS report is updated as soon as the work is done on the car? My report is still showing the 13C02 and the 13B07 are still outstanding...?? -

I'm scheduled to pick up my new SEL tomorrow with the 2 recall/upgrades completed: 13C02 and 13B07. It's been sitting in the dealership for 3 weeks waiting on the parts. I read on the forum today that some of you were getting the headliners fixed, so I called the service dept. directly and found out the parts were in... my SA was off for a few days, but another SA got it in the shop and I'm picking it up tomorrow. I'm stoked.... it's been a long, patient wait. SEL 302A Ice Storm...SWEEET!
