  1. Got my A5 card in the mail today and checked it out. With all the construction going on here in San Antonio it has to have some changes to the roads here..lol

I agree that the cost of updating the maps is ridiculous!!  Not like it is Ford that actually does the map updates but rather package on an SD card however I only paid $49 for my A5 card so I am not as ticked off if I would had have paid the dealership cost!!

  2. Sounds great Frank!! We have had a lot of rain but I did manage to get my repairs done. I am very happy with the color match of WP! I am not happy with my use of their product as this was my first ever attempt doing a touch up and I didn't put the layers on thin enough. =(

Maybe one day I will remove this attempt and try again but for now it is covered. Unless you are feeling or looking at light reflecting off the area you can not tell where the patch is. I will edit this post later once I get my pictures uploaded.

    ***Edit***

Well here are the pictures. The camera still shows a slight color difference but the color is matched to where the naked eye can't tell. As I said earlier, the light reflection since the patch is not at the same level or smoothed out causes the camera to see the patch easily.

  3. My CMAX came from the dealer having the tires filled with Nitrogen. I am no rocket scientist or engineer but the two benefits of using Nitrogen versus standard air was bigger particles means less loss of pressure overtime and the tires run cooler during longer drives. Now the crappy points, I don't have any way to play with my psi aside from going back to the dealer. I don't even want to check the current pressure they loaded cause I don't want to loose any psi (silly, I know).

Is there any ill effects of increasing the psi with my home air compressor? Will it pretty much negate the benefits of the nitrogen?

  4. Sorry to take so long but here is an update as of yet.

I received my order from paintscratch.com, I am sure mtb will agree, the shipping time and packaging of items was above par. We had a bunch of rain come through the past few weeks so I was not able to start my repair until this past weekend. I must say the color match is spot on! I have put on the base coat and one thin layer of mid-coat so far I am sure I should only need on more layer of mid-coat I had just ran out of time to finish the project. Hopefully I can finish this week though. I have taken photos from start to finish to show the masses and will upload later.

    To be continued....

  5. So when we bought our CMax the stealership had already tinted the windows but they left out the front wings. I see many others on this forum with those windows tinted so I went to the local Mothers and asked them to do it. The sales rep told me that Texas law states any window in front of the side view mirrors is considered a front window and can not me tinted.. Has anyone else heard this non-sense?? I can't find a reference to that anywhere.I ended up tinting them myself but am still wondering if I am now breaking the law.

  6. Yes the scratchwizard looks cool but I would think it would work best on a standard paint car not our Tri-Coat.

The second link I gave, http://www.paintscratch.com, actually that kit comes with the basecoat, midcoat, and clearcoat paints to match. The problem I would see is when using the midcoat you have to start with a very thin coat and try to work up to the matching tint level of the rest of your car . This would of course require some trial and error.
