  1. If you powered down 12V accessories and the problem stopped, I would charge and test my 12V battery.

Thank you. I'm very careful with accessories. Transmission was ok. Now we're wondering if bad gas fill up or repeat of purge valve problem could account for the lurching.

  2. I haven't posted in months. After nearly 2 years and 16,000 miles my 2013 SEL CMax with only minor issues and all recalls easily installed, hit a problem today. Running errands my car started slowing and lurching following stops. Also, the D shift on dashboard flickered. I went to P and then to D and eased on, deciding to turn off the AC and lights and head to the dealer-25 minutes away. Of course, the drive was perfect and after a check of hybrid battery, 12 volt, computer system, and a ground wire, nothing showed up. The mechanic indicated that flickering light on shift meant something electrical but it could be a one time glitch. My question, please. Has anyone experienced this occurrence? And if so, am I headed for a battery/electrical problem after all this time?

  3. My sincere sympathy to all those who have suffered dead batteries. I feared the worst upon returning from a 2 week Caribbean cruise. C-Max had to remain outside through one of our worst Chiberia winters. Several inches of snow in addition to 14 days of below 0 temps. It took my husband and me 15 minutes to sweep the snow and get on our way home, but the engine started up immediately. I'm very pleased that my battery worries seem over.

  4. When we had -15 a couple weeks ago, only my FOB unlocked the doors. Unfortunately, garage only held my husband's car, so CMax had to stay out. I made sure the tank was full and remote started the car every few hours. My mpg fell to 7 at one point since the car wasn't driven for 3 days. I was happy it started so mpg didn't stress me.

  5. Today while scrolling through my radio channels I noticed that my Sirius is still functioning through my MFT screen despite the free service expiring 6 months ago and various Sirius enticements ignored over the past months. However, out of curiosity I went to Sync where I commanded "Sirius". Pleasant voice said it was no longer subscribed to. Anyone experienced this? Nice listening to Elvis channel but unpaid for months now.

  6. JWGrayson welcome to the forum.  We drive our car very little compared to most on the forum--short hops like you.  Sometimes we don't drive it for several days.  We take the odd longer trip of a few hundred kilometers when going out of town.  We have had no battery problems (knocking on wood) and I would be some peeved if I learned that our car would suffer battery issues from being used infrequently and I would be very vocal with Ford if that was the case.  Our experience is the car works fine with intermittent and little use.  Good idea that you are letting the dealership know--make sure you get something in writing that you registered your complaint and I think the only way to get that is to insist that they check out your car for the dead battery issue.  Kudos to you for caring for your elderly mom.  We did that too and it is very draining and difficult often.  Not so many people do it anymore.

I also can drive for days never venturing more than 3 miles round trip. My C Max has had no battery problems. At my last servicing, the Service Manager said he hasn't had one case of a bad battery with the CMax. I understand that's not a valid study but did make me relax.

  7. Another +1 for my SEL Hybrid with remote start, dealer installed with a separate fob and no settings available in the car's menu system.

Same here. When I bought my CMax over a year ago I was told remote starts factory installed had some problems so I'd have to wait for an updated one to have dealer installed. Separate fob and no directions or guide. It seems to be 10 minutes in duration but I've never timed it.
  8. Apparently when you bought your CMax has nothing to do with it.  I bought mine on September 20th, which is one year ago TODAY! no check yet. SHOW ME THE MONEY!  I was one of if not the first in the south bay to buy a CMax.  Mine was driven off the car carrier within hours the same day I bought it.  Fresh from Michigan.

Bought mine Oct 10 of last year off the lot. No check yet either.

  9. I just know that my wife and I have the exact same CMAX parked in the same driveway.  My average is 45.5MPG and hers is 37MPG.

Why because she drives 2 miles to work each day and the car never warms up and I drive 20 miles to work and half is on the freeway.

I would love to do the same test with a Prius or an Accord.

Don't waste time test driving the Prius. My last car was the Prius, my driving route was about 2 miles, and I was lucky to get your wife's 37mpg. In winter I couldn't even reach. Loved the car though it didn't compare to the luxury and smooth feel of my C-Max.
  10. I followed directions but Sync lady said my device didn't support text messages. I have the IPhone 5. Don't think I'll do a phone reset as I can live without receiving messages in my car.

    Updat:

Suddenly the following day I hear a text ding as I'm driving and a screen option to listen, ignore, or cancel the message. Voila! Nice lady provides messages.

  11. I'm actually not one of those overly concerned about fuel economy with the CMax. Since owning mine-10 months now-it appears to be getting 2-3 mpg. less than my previously owned Priuses. My highest mpg with the Prius on an entire tank was about 45 with my driving habits. My current tank on the CMax should be my best but not above 43. Still ok as the car is appealing in so many other ways.

  12. I didn't seek leather heated power seats nor a moon roof, but the car I test drove was souped up and the dealership gave me a good price. Since I was hesitant to wait 2 months into winter for a factory order, I took the deal. Now I'm happy I did as I love the power seats. (My husband has his own Honda Fit and when he drives mine he hasn't figured out that there are several power knobs. Therefore I only have to make one adjustment after he drives. )
