  1. Stopped in at my local small town dealer today and he had 4 new Cmaxs' on the lot. 2 SE's and 2 SEL's. He always seems to have Cmax's in stock and they always seem to be different. What is peculiar is that I have only seen one other one on the road besides ours...

    Rattles

The only rattle in ours is when the rear seatbelts slip out of their guides on the top of the seats.
  3. I believe that some of the manufacturers concern is also related to things like wheel bearings, tires and brakes. All of those require a break-in period to reach their most affective and safe operating conditions. As far as engines are concerned today, I would not be too worried about break-in unless your normal driving style is similar to an Indy Car driver on a race Sunday.
  4. Very true! I wouldn't recommend running any vehicle below 1/8th of a tank.
  5. The maps in my BMW are excellent and whatever sytem they use interfaces perfectly because they are always 100% spot on! So if Ford is using the same mapping, then as soon as they can figure out how to interface with My Ford Touch I would expect nothing less than that! There is hope!
  6. If you have the cloth interior, try spraying the seats with "static guard" clothing spray.
  7. We have the panoramic roof in our car. It is expensive and I wouldn't have bought it had it not been on the car as it sat at the dealer. However, after having it I have found out it is actually a very nice option. It makes the interior seem so much bigger and on those cold days if you leave the sunshade open, it actually helps warm the interior.
  8. I have always found if you park far away and walk, most of the time you are in the store while the person that was in front of you is still driving around looking for a spot close to the door.
  9. Our dealer said that they have no new info on the update availabillity either. However, he did say that he has found out some things he would like to try so that our intelligent (keyless) access works properly.
  10. Congrats on the new car! It will definatly be a big change from the almighty SHO!
  11. It seems like there are a few places in the country that the NAV works as it was intended! Lucky you! I am still patiently waiting for the update so my car knows where it is in Western Pennsylvania. :(
  12. Ours has rebooted twice in the last week. That is the first and second time that it has ever done that since we took ownership in November.
  13. Great write up! Thank You! I would love to give up a Saturday afternoon to attend one of those sessions. However, in snowy Western PA it would have to be held indoors and there would be alot of dirty cars parked there!

    2nd day

My lead foot 20 tear old son seems to be intrigued enough by the MPG thing that whenever he borrows his moms car he seems to have a whole different driving style! However, when he drives his TDI (which he drives hard) he always points out the he is getting 1-2 MPG better than the Cmax. I am sure that will change as the weather warms up.
  15. Hmm, so much for a new release by the end of the quarter like they originally said...
  16. Build was prob November. SEL w/2400 miles. No battery problems! Only problem is the intellegent access doesn't always unlock the doors (and MFT/NAV desperatly would like an update)
  17. Maybe running the rear defroster would help. I would have to look at our car, but some cars have an extra heating element where the rear wiper "parks" when not in use to help the ice/snow buildup on the blade.
  18. Today my wife took the car to visit a college with my daughter. The NAV couldn't even find the entrance to the freeway. Luckily she knew how to get on the Interstate and had printed out directions to get to her final destination. That was her first time she tried to use the NAV in this car and she now agrees with me that this is the worst navigation system available on the planet! On the bright side, since we linked her clock to the GPS it has never lost the correct time! Hmmm... we paid a grand so that the clock is right! I can't wait for the updates to be released!
  19. I was driving the car today and it was cold out. I set the my view to the tach and while it was charging it was running 1500-2000 rpm. Once the battery was charged the engine continued to run to create heat for the cabin but the tach stayed right around 1000 rpm. I would notice the down arrow on the battery when I would take off from a stop sign or while getting up to cruising speed.
  20. UPDATE: My wife is on her small trip to visit a college campus with my daughter. 5 miles from the house, the NAV couldn't even put her on the Interstate heading South. Luckily she knew how to get on the Intersate... Unfortunatly I have my doubts as to whether or not the NAV will get her to her final destination. On the bright side though, she confirmed that her clock was indeed still telling her the correct time!
  21. I agree with MikeB. I think the ICE is not required to propel the car as much because the electric assist is doing most of the work. I notice this quite often when I am driving in town on a cold day. The ICE runs to create heat for the cabin and eventually the battery becomes fully charged. At that point the car drives much differently, because 90% of the engine use is for creating heat. Since the ICE is operating the transmission is engaged but there is very little tractive effort going through it.
  22. I am sorry... just frustrated with MFT and NAV. My wife is taking a small trip tomorrow and will be taking the Garmin and a printout from Mapquest with her because she will be in unfamiliar territory and we don't trust our NAV. At least we know her clock will be right so she won't be late! BTW my dealer is as frustrated (or maybe more frustrated) than we are because he knows the system isn't working up to expectations. He has to deal with frustrated customers for all Ford vehicels.
  23. The factory Aluminum wheel is 17" in diameter. I can't remember the width or offset right now...
  24. It is a thousand dollar option to have your clock tell you the correct time! Although, with the "correct time" option... you also get a useless navigation system!
  25. The salesman put ours in the fobs on the day we took delivery.
