Maxus is close to setting a new record for a single tank of gas

I think you are greatly over stating the risk to the fuel pump which comes with a lifetime filter in it. Then you add in that the ICE only runs about 1/2 the miles of the odometer depending on how much CITY vs HWY driving you do. I have 84Kmi. with 46MPG average and 141 fill ups with no problems. As it turns out Hybrids are very different in many ways from regular ICE vehicles . :) Paul -

The fuel pump doesn't work If ICE stops running. I have run out 5 times and it is a non event. You can go 25-40miles past 0 MTE no sweat. Go for it Mike! :shift: Paul -
I was away for a week with MADMAX in the garage and when I opened the door voltage meter was reading 11.7volts. HVB SOC was approx. 3/4 and everything worked fine. :) Paul

I have been out of town for last two weeks, thanks for the reminder, I will check tomorrow. :) Paul -
Both Grill Covers and foam cut down air flow to radiator and ICE. This shortens the heatup time and allows the ICE to stay at operating temp +202*F and from my testing both center and lower grills blocked off all year long. Only long uphill climbs require extra cooling from removing lower cover or use heater to manage temps. I leave upper grill open All the time, but I would block that grill too in real cold areas. Grill Covers add the improvement in MPG's from drop in aerodynamic drag. Paul

I don't see where foam improves aerodynamics over not. To reduce drag requires a smooth surface which the grill isn't. Grill Covers create a smooth aerodynamic surface. IMO Paul

What about the 2mpg HWY? MPG's are everything! LOL Grill Covers are only 2 things and only take seconds to put on and off. Paul

From the testing I did the Grill Covers are worth 2 mpg HWY driving. I made a trip to AZ last week through the bad snow storm and back. I was driving by myself so I was able to use heater speed to control WT using ScanGauge. This was with both Grill Covers on going up long uphill grades. It worked great and I didn't have to freeze. Post Your Life Time MPG's, Total Mi., EV mi., Regen mi. and Brake Score

If you are lucky you haven't reset one of your trip gauges, then you have a LifeTime as long as you don't reset it. Paul -
Aerodynamically the front end needs to be nice and smooth to create the least amont of drag, the best MPG's. Do you think it looks better to cover up openings from behind the Grill? Paul

. I don't think that is going to be easy to do. I think it would be easier to come from the front and fasten it to the grill. Paul

Noise got better, but took a lot of miles. :) Paul

I would suggest putting the tires on right side on the left and vs.to change the direction of rotation and then only move front to back there after when rotating the tires. That's what I did after noise problems with bad alignment. I did get 65Kmi out of my tires. :) Paul

Do you carry a jumper battery with you, sounds like a good idea. It would be interesting if adding another battery as mentioned before would give you greater endurance. Do you have a voltage meter to see what your voltage is? This would give you advanced notice of a problem and it would be good info when you get "low battery..." message. :) Paul

I left MADMAX(He doesn't like the cold) outside last Night to test the ICE Block and Oil Pan Heaters in the cold. This Morning I turned on the Heaters at 7:37AM the OT was 26*F, IT 33*F and WT 35*F then when I went to work at 9:28AM the OT was 36*F, IT 55*F and WT 83*F, a difference of 57*F. :) Paul

Looking at the Smart Gauge Tack It looks like 6,000rpms is the red line for the ICE, no reason to sweat 4,500. BTW the ICE still makes some heat from compressing air in the cylinders so the ICE doesn't cool off totally going down hill. You wouldn't want to waist gas heating up the ICE again. :) Paul
