  1. The 2014 CMAX and FFH have different power train than 2013 CMAX and FFH. About a hundred miles today and 52.8MPG :) Paul
  2. The graph I did showed 2MPG per 10degree drop in temperature. Paul
  3. I have an appointment for Tomorrow to have an insurance adjuster look at my car (you got to be kidding me ). Since when do you have to make an appointment to have car looked at! :rant2: I picked up 2014 FFH SE as rental car today so I will be able to do some testing on it with my Grill Covers. I got 53.5MPG coming back from Atlanta, 41mi about 55degrees, drafting on I85 :shift: Doesn't have power of CMAX but good gas mileage. Paul
  4. Figured I'd tell my story here that cost a buck it's life and will cost insurance a few bucks too. Driving here in Georgia on way to evening bicycle ride about 45 mph when deer appeared in front of me and I had no time to react. Hit the brakes as the deer impacted the front of car. Airbag did not deploy and car is driveable. Mangled the left front driver's side, shattering the headlight cover and leaving antler marks on the fender. Will drive to body shop tomorrow and see what the damage $$$$s are. I'm a bit stiff from tensing but otherwise okay. Wheel covers and gas pods survived as well as bike rack and bicycle. My grill covers stayed on but the deer cracked the main grill cover. Paul
  5. Grill Covers are the answer to the question, you would be getting 600+ every time! LOL :) Paul
  6. Pure Gas seems to get the best match up to Smart Gauge and EPA testing is done used it. I have 3 fill ups with Pure Gas and all have had better MPG. I believe most everyone else has had similar results. But Pure Gas $4/gal here and not worth using regularly. Paul
  7. Also I think the more Ethanol in gas the more of a difference there will be too. As an experiment fill your tank up with Pure Gas and see how close the difference is. :) Paul
  8. The dial indicator test was very sensitive, but the two do correlate closely. Thinking about doing some tuff testing and adding chin spoiler. Paul
  9. I tried the water test but It's not very sensitive. Got 3/8" for dirty filter, 1/4" for clean and would have got nothing for K&N. My test was a lot more sensitive. Paul
  10. How about automatic air bag deployment for the rear of your CMAX to minimize rear end collisions. :) Paul
  11. I had a 2007 Focus that I sold a year ago. I installed a Steeda filter system and gained at least 3mpg and what a difference in power. The Ford system was very restrictive and designed to muffle intake noises or make engine quieter. Hybrid is not like regular car because you use significant throttle for short periods and then go back to EV. You need nonrestrictive air filter for this application. I'm expecting around 1MPG improvement which is only 2%. If you can make several 2% improvements all of a sudden you gained 5MPG or 60 more miles on a tank. :) Paul
  12. I agree with you about the chin spoiler, I think there is to much pressure under the car and pushing out wheel covers. Need to do more tuff testing to see what is happening to front and sides of car. Paul
  13. EPA testing is done with Pure Gas for one and All the cars and trucks I have owned showed better MPG's than what they actually got. It does look better for them. :) I do think that the BTU's very with Gas Suppliers. Sometimes I'm pretty close and others off by a gal. Paul
  14. Old filter is in box and new is sitting on the box. Well I did it, Changed The CMAX AIR FILTER. What a pain in you know what! It can be done, but not without patience and blood. There are sharp things down there in the ICE compartment. FORD instructions are marginal at best, they don't want you doing this. You need to unplug Mass air flow sensor not in instructions and wire strap I broke around PCV tube. I think you can get this at AutoZone, but don't see why you need it. Wear good gloves to prevent from giving blood. LOL I tested all three filters on my very simple (KIS) test. Here is how it works. You take a box and tape it up good. Then make holes for filter(tight fit) and shop vacuum. Then I setup Dial Indicator on side of box to measure compression of box. Only took a few minutes to setup. Here are the results. 1. No filter .000" 2. K&N filter .0005" 3. Ford new filter .0025" 4. Ford 42K old filter .005 I'm thinking that the difference is significant and maybe 1 mile per gal. We will see. I don't think there has been very many CMAX's air filters changed. I think you can guess what filter I'm using. :) Paul
  15. Has anyone been using 50psi from the beginning? I still have 6/32 and little more towards the inside. No problem here. Paul
  16. I thought you would have Grill Covers by now. LOL :)
  17. I thought the ICE measure gas by volume not density? On my record run of 909mi and 13.9gal of Pure Gas vs Smart Gauge got 13.77gal. ,real close. With Reg I'm usually close to a gal difference. I do a lot of cross country driving and not all gas is created equal by my experience. Paul
  18. What is important here is the ICE doesn't have to work as hard sucking air in so less gas is used. Paul
  19. I think three months ago was looking at replacing my tires because camber was off in the back and made my tires wear so they made alot of noise. Ford wasn't going for replacing them with over 24K miles on car. so I reversed the rotation direction and they are better now with 42K mi. It sounds like they have lowered their price since then. Paul
  20. You thought right, Pure Gas agrees very closely with Smart Gauge. Paul
  21. Got my K&N air filter today and sure enough it has less back pressure than Ford air filter. I need to get ambitious to get the old one out, what a pain, so I can test it. Paul
  22. Has anyone checked out the Prius site to see what they found out, they have years of experience. I have 6/32 at 42K and these are very expensive tires $900 set. Paul
  23. I just notice that an end of one of my foam species was sticking out and think the only way that can happen is if there is air pressure pushing the cover out and letting the foam to come out. Paul
  24. Inverter coolant lines seem to stay around outside temp, Ford doesn't have sensor for it, they aren't worried Paul
