  1. I doubt their doing anything to engine cpu and you will gain about 1mpg after 3k. The problem is temperature, you lose 1.5-2mpg per every -10degress drop in temp. so at 70 degress at 65mph you would be getting approx. 46mpg. Check your Speedometer and Odometer with a GPS to make sure there accurate. If you are interested in improving your MPG's email paul@star-instruments.com and I give you a phone# to call me.
  2. That's great and go ahead and skew the numbers, there are people out there that are either driving to the store 2mi and back or driving 80mph on the fwy to get 31-33mpg average. What a diffence truck to CMAX. WOW! Both ends of MPG spectrium.
  3. I agree with you on that but how many people are going to take a chance on voiding their waranty. No part of my plan requires drilling holes or any noticeable changes that can't be undone. I wish we had spell check. One part is electrical so I need to make sure I do it right. See if i can find an expert. Do you have your ENERGI yet and are you going to put it on Fuelly?
  4. I have a solution for poor MPG on CMAX Hybrid that would increase City MPG by 3-10MPG's and 2-3 MPG's Hwy for about a hundred dollars approx. in parts, but Ford doesn't allow you to modify their CMAX without the possiblity of voiding the warranty. Not using their air filter could void your waranty. So you can't solve the problem yourself and they will take your idea if you don't have a patient. No quick cheap solutions here. What can you do?
  5. About 200ft but often so ICE up EV down. Actually I got in my testing of center grill cover 45.1MPG but I think 42mpg is safe at 65 Degress. The disclaimer is your mileage may very.
  6. I use ECO cruise only for testing to have some standardization. I naturally eco cruise so I never use it.
  7. Fuelly CMAX average is up to 39.9 and climbing! Aptos Driver , I think if you drove a CMAX you would get 2-3 MPG more than Camery and you will love being able to run off the battery at 62+mph.
  8. Fuelly is up to 39.9MPG and climbing.
  9. It gets better, Fuelly dumped the bad Post so we are up to 39.9MPG. MikeB what is the lastest on your car?
  10. On a funny note I tryed to get Fuelly to separate ENERGI's from Regular CMAX's because of one apparentant malicious Post of 21.7mpg from an ENERGI owner. Fuelly wrote back saying that ENERGI is an option and not a separate car . Then I asked if they would remove that Post because Natioal Media were quoting it. We wil see how that goes, but the side effect will be ENERNI owners will push our average into the 50's in no time flat. LOL
  11. What about your odometer, I'm trying to get some kind of average from several people to see If there is a trend. I'm starting to wonder if my CMAX is better than most. Saturday I made my usual time to my daughters about 74mi around Atlanta Fwys and did some drafting with speeds between 55-80mph, 58degress and got 49MPG actual. The return trip I did very little drafting with speeds between 50-75 ,56degrees and got 44MPG all on RUG. BTW it appears that No Ethanol and Premium get 1 mpg better fuel economy, not worth it unless you're going for max range.
  12. I was wondering how many ford Hybrids were out there. Good Job darrelld.
  13. The problem there is RUG goes for 3.20 and diesel 4.00, the diesel doesn't get 20% better mileage. CMAX-owner have you checked your odometer with GPS on one of your trips? Mine was off by .015% or .5mpg. I was wondering if you would interested in trying my center grill cover idea out, my testing should 4-5mpg improvement but I think maybe 2mpg?
  14. skwcrj nobody is interested your opinions anymore, you totally ignore my post to you, and my post for my last tank at 608mi, 12.8gal and 47.3MPG mostly hwy which is about 100mi farther than you have gone in your PriusV. Also you stated on the Prius forum that you do hypermilling which is obvious with you are getting 6mpg better than the average for PriusV's. Oh by the way I gained 15% MPG with my 2010 Escape Hybrid by 15kmi. About 50% of the CMAX's on Fuelly are getting 40mpg or better, 40% are learning to drive a Hybrid and 10% don't care or aren't CMAX's at all. I expect in a years time the overall average will be 43-44mpg which is better than PriusV and close enough to 47mpg to not matter. You still haven't driven a CMAX. Darrelld loved your Post.
  15. Good Job! I think the MPG's will keep getting better with the combination of car breaking in and driver getting better.
  16. I think you are right , so that is why I bought the ScanGuage to monitor the temps to make sure I won't have any problems in the first place. For the summer time I will have a cover with a cut out for the radiator intake in grill, might need the extra air for AC.
  17. You haven't stated what kind of driving you do to get that kind of mileage. City/Hwy/short/long trips and I'm assuming you haven't owned a Hybrid before. You should be posting your fillup numbers on FUELLY.com. There is a wealth of information in the fuel economy thread in this Forum if your interested in improving your fuel economy. There are several people in CA maybe someone close by that could give you some pointers. Here are the facts: 1. 75% of CMAX owners are getting better MPG than you are and and about 50% are getting 40+MPG, This should tell you something. 2. Honda Civic Hybrid on Fuelly average 47.1mpg, with a low of 41.7mpg. 3. My last fuel up I got 47.3mpg on 608.6mi and 12.8gal. 4. There is nothing wrong with your CMAX, but you need to be motivated and patient to get the most out of any Hybrid car. They aren't for everybody. I hope this will help challenge you to see how much you can increase your MPG's. Good Luck and let us know how you do.
  18. I bet you if you could check most PriusV owners had a Prius before so that would push MPG numbers to the plus side vs CMAX has alot of new Hybrid owners which would push the numbers to the minus side. There are just a small number of CMAX on FUELLY plus about four are getting ridiculously low numbers, makes you wonder if they are real or not. Most people on this forum seem to be improving their MPG's.
  19. I noticed that E+ comes on near my house and work. Cool
  20. spinnaker87 you seem to be ignoring all the CMAX owners that are getting around 47MPG or better. I personally get better than 49mpg in stop in and go traffic in my CMAX. Most new small cars have spray cans, just a sign of the times, more space and less cost. CMAX has greater range, I got 608.6mi on 12.8gal.,47.3mpg, how far will your Prius go in West Texas?
  21. Please don't ruin the performace, I'm aready getting 47.3MPG. I talked to my Ford Service Mgr today, they don't have to warranty the CMAX if any modifications have been made to the car. I bought a ScanGuage to monitor engine function to be on the safe side. The grill cover isn't a permanent modification.
  22. It works that way to keep from over heating the battery. When you start in the morning the battery is cold and EV has alot of power but that is the only time it does.
  23. You sound like a good candidate for my center grill cover which increased MPG by 4-5mpg at 70mph on my CMAX. See previous Posts. I'm in the atlanta area, any chance of trying one on your CMAX? My lifetime average is 45.4mpg and going up. Last tank I got 47.3mpg actual. Most of my driving is between 45-75mph.
  24. You should keep you're numbers on fuelly.com so you can help raise our average up from 38.7. There is an ENERGI that's getting 21.7 mpg, I don't see how that is possable, but he is single handily dropping our average by 1mpg. I'm going to be Acworth tonight or tomorrow if you would like to get together and see CMAX grill cover.
