Ok, guys. Finally my TCU has arrived and I flashed the J-series firmware. Everything works like a charm now, but departure times. So, my guess we still have to wait for the new firmware. Attached my config and screenshots bellow.

Thanks for sharing all the details - I wish I had the time to invest in doing the same right now for our 2014 Fusion Energi.

Regarding the core charge bit, I'd definitely push back on your dealer if that comes to pass since Ford is the one delaying things.

That said, not too surprised with the quirks and bugs and how haphazard things have been on the official end of things. I'm curious what model year C-Max you have though? I know in some later bulletins they had started holding off for some model years due to compatibility issues.

Service rep made it sound as in general they were holding off for all related vehicles.

Not to confuse people - this could be 100% local dealer decision.

We have a 2014 Fusion Energi.

I am going to call parts dept and see about the core charge issue - I don't want to return a part only to find out they won't be available later when they are back to installing.

  3. Anyone else have the their local Ford dealer put a hold on doing the upgrades ?

I ordered the part and was in process of scheduling appointment to get it installed (depending on price I might DIY).

Anyways - I was told Ford put a hold on dealers doing the upgrade - due to software issues.

Rep mentioned that the recent upgrades at local shop had issues.

No timeline for when they will continue the upgrades.

Note:  I was also told if you don't return the order or a core within 30 days - you will loose the $200 core charge no matter what.

Ford has essentially made all the basic FordPass functions free for 'life' (subject to change at their whim of course, but they have not made any indications this will change any time soon) for any eligible vehicles including ours, regardless of what the situation was with MyFord Mobile.

The only option that costs when it comes for FordPass is if the vehicle was hotspot equipped and the cost is just for that feature alone.

    Thanks for the detailed response.

We can all hope that Ford continues to support free access to our data and remote services.

Now if GMC would also do the same.  I believe our Volt online services is limited to 5 years - not sure if GMC will extend it.

  5. We have a 2014 Fusion Energi and looking at just purchasing the replacement TCU through local dealer under the program.

I might install myself or pay dealer.  Don't have time for a full DIY right now.

My question : Is Ford extending access to FordPass for access to data for older cars / owners?

I always thought there was going to be a limit to 5 years while using MyFordMobile but

it never stopped working, past the 5 years.

Point being - no reason to upgrade the hardware if I can't get access to the data?

Anyone else with cars older then 5 years having issue getting this to work.

I am more interested in trip data along with full / ev used - but would like to have all functionality previously with MFM.

I don't think the modem upgrade notice answers this question.

    Thanks.

I don't think anyone has had any luck yet because currently the part is only available as an internally purchasable part through Ford as part of this upgrade program/CSP. There's a chance in the coming months it may be available through normal channels, but nothing at the moment I'm afraid. I've been keeping tabs on a number of different communities (C-Max Facebook groups, Focus BEV forum, here, C-Max subreddit, etc..) and haven't been made aware of anyone being able to purchase the part outright.

My local service rep told me to call the part department - mention the CSP and order / pay for the part.  Then schedule time to install.  I think others have mentioned they just had order / pay for the part.    I have not called the parts department yet.. I was going to call Ford to see if I we could be included in the labor coverage.

  7. There is reference for success in upgrading a salvaged modem out of another vehicle.

Has anyone attempted / read about purchasing the new part and installing it yourself?

Does Ford need to program anything to make the new modem work?

I don't mind saving some money labor if possible and dealer is going to pick up labor costs unless Ford approves it.

We have a 2014 Fusion Energi.
