UPDATE! I disconnected the car battery (low side 12V) and that finally stopped the radio from playing. I connected the battery back to the car and everything booted back up and seems to work just fine. strange that it would get stuck like that, but after 30,000 miles on my C-Max, I am not shocked by anything at this point. I will say that the latest update seemed to really smoothing things out for the connections and the touch display. First glitch i have had since upgrading the software. R3D

thanks! I did get an update about 4 months ago, i will have to research and see what is the latest rev so when I go to the deaaler, I can tell them what the latest is, they never seem to know. :-0

I was driving to work this morning, and I got a phone call, my BT connected phone rang and then the screen on the MFT display, froze. the radio would not turn down the volume, the call was not answered in the car, but on the handset. I had to tell the caller to call back my car was fighting with my phone. Like kids in the back of the car, they were in some sort of struggle for complete dominance of the other and I was caught in the middle. I relaxed, took several deep breaths, and started to try and solve the issue, while driving 60 MPH, the radio blaring, and MFT just ignoring my every attempt to calm it down. I could see the screen trying to react to some of my wild button pushing, but always back to the home screen with no effect on the radio, volume still too high for the slowing traffic, I pulled over to the side of the road, and tried to turn off the ignition, opened the door, and restart the Ignition. NOTHING.... the radio played on, except, it only seemed to be coming through the front center channel, no stereo, just monaural sound from the center stack. I pushed the ignition button again, stopped the car, put it in PARK, Opened the door. NO CHANGE It's down there right now in the parking garage, at work. The radio playing, draining my battery of life, and I CAN"T SHUT IT OFF. I guess it really likes the radio station and wanted to hear what was going on, or it just decided that I was no longer in control and this is a simple, yet effective Coup De Ta. The first event in the Singularity where machines are asserting their dominance and defying thier human masters. Or the damm thing is just stubborn. I don't know why, it just is. DO I need to resort to pulling it's power? or should I try and reason with it? Let me know. R3d

UPDATE FROM THE COLLISION REPAIR CENTER. A new bumper, and the light that is inside the liftgate, plus some trim pieces from the liftgate interior, paint and body work. Final estimate $2600. and that is not replacing the liftgate, just repairing the dent. Yet to see the finished product, but I am hoping that the paint matches and the liftgate still aligns with the bumper the way it should. Maybe I could start a "Parking Assist" support group? R3d

lesson learned, I have an appointment with the adjuster this weekend, I am guessing about $5000 damage. my insurance is going to love me...

I have never used the park assist on my C-Max Hybrid, there are many things that the C-Max offers that I don't use on a daily basis, but the Park assist, since I live in a suburban area, had never been used. I park in the garage at home, and at work, and when i go shopping or to the gym i always park head on, in a space. But I went to a shopping center the other day and there was a great space right in front of the supermarket, curb parking. I never got a demo of this when I got the car, the dealer had no clue it was even on the car. so I tried it... I pulled even with the car ahead of the space and hit the Park button. The screen told me to pull forward, I did. I stopped and put the trans in Reverse, the car started backing up, quickly. it moved the wheel first to the right, then quickly to the left and I was moving into the space quite rapidly. I was amazed! it was astonishing, I sat in wonderment....unitl BANG! I had struck the car behind me. HARD. I was so consumed with watching the car "do it's thing" that I completly forgot to brake. I thought that it might brake and then ask me to pull the car forward by putting it in drive. It all happend so fast! i had no time to react. The image on the screen filled up with large SUV bumper. I only had time to say "holy water!" and the damage was done. And what a lot of damage it did..... i suspect that I will need a new bumper, a new tailgate, and some checks on the underpinnings of the car. the SUV that I hit? nothing, not even a scratch. The liscence plate holder did most of the damage and it was otherwise not disturbed.

The influential magazine said the Fusion hybrid delivered a 39 miles per gallon both on the highway and in city driving, while the C-Max hit a combined 37 miles per gallon. Both models were expected to command about 47 miles per gallon, according to estimates from Ford and the Environmental Protection Agency. "These two vehicles have the largest discrepancy between our overall-mpg results and the estimates published by the EPA that we've seen among any current models," Consumer Reports said in a blog post on its web site. Driving aggressively and other factors can undercut the fuel economy estimated by the EPA. In a statement, Ford said C-Max and Fusion hybrid drivers reported a range of fuel economy figures, including some that surpassed 47 miles per gallon. "This reinforces the fact that driving styles, driving conditions, and other factors can cause mileage to vary," Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood said. But Consumer Reports said among current models, more than 80 percent of the vehicles it tested were within two miles per gallon of the estimates. The Fusion hybrid fell short by 8 miles per gallon, while the C-Max was off by 10 miles per gallon. The Fusion hybrid still has the best fuel economy of any family sedan tested by Consumer Reports. The C-Max hybrid is second behind Toyota Motor Corp's Prius V. "Make no mistake; both the Fusion Hybrid and C-Max Hybrid still deliver excellent fuel economy," Consumer Reports said. "But our tests show that buyers shouldn't expect the stellar 47 mpg that Ford is promoting." The review comes a little more than a month after an EPA investigation showed that Hyundai Motor Co and its affiliate Kia Motors Corp had overstated their fuel economy by at least a mile per gallon. Boosting fuel efficiency has been a pillar of Ford's vehicle strategy for the past six years. This year the second-largest U.S. automaker expects to wind up with a record 11 percent of the U.S. market for hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles this year. The Fusion, which competes in the bread-and-butter midsize sedan segment of the market, is a particularly important model for Ford. For those of you with black paint, here's a great product that I found, and used with great results. I found it at walmat, for just 16.98. The Pre-Wax cleaner acts like a claybar application, cleaning the surface, that and the wax is tinted with black pigment. I swore I would never own a black car again, I have owned 3, the C-Max is my fourth black car. There was a rock ding on the hood of the car when I got it. I had the dealer fix the hood at an auto body shop, but that left a little cip in the paint surface. With the black pigment in the wax I was able to cover up the chip and you can not tell it was ever there. looks like all C-Max (energi and Hybrid) cars will get an upgrade 1st Q of 2013. I hope that they dont mess with all of the settings for connected media, it took to long to get all of that set up! Plus if they are going to upgrade the firmware, they should upgrade the processer and the RAM at the same time, I'm sure that would solve 99 percent of the slowness and indexing type of problems. but that might be cost prohibitive for ford. on the other hand, if you can download new Firmware for the car over the net to a usb device, that would be a great tool for owners, not having to go to the dealership everytime they want to "upgrade" a bug fix or a new version.

I started the car as normal this morning, and set off. the stereo was not playing and the screen displayed "Building List" then the whole system shut down. the "8" screen and the right side of the speedo cluster went dark. the MyFordTOuch emblem came on the screen then it said it was doing scheduled maintenace. took about 2 minutes, then the system came back up and some of the settings in the drive menus and the radio and nav were all set to different choice. I assume they are the default, even though I was not sure what they were. Anyone experience this? how often? and did this occur because ford pushed an update? or is this just what happens during a system failure?

OK so I have only had my C-Max now for two days, and I got out of the dealership at 11:00 at night (dont ask) and I am trying to figure out how to change the ECO modes. I have sat and gone through the MY ford touch controls and the displays around the speedo, but damm if I can find a way to change MODES? I have a SEL with the nav, parking assist, and the cool automatic hatch! R3d
