  1. Wow that is scary, hope I never experience this? I did have a few occasions in my 1992 GMC Typhoon where I was stopped at a traffic light with my foot on the brake (thank God) because suddenly the RPM's started to accelerate and the truck wanted to move forward. These computer control systems which control just about everything under the hood especially the throttle, aren't fool proof in my opinion.
  2. I have to say there has been many times that my foot caught the edge of the brake pedal as I was applying pressure to the gas pedal. I feel the pedal's are too close together. I also tend to slip off the brake pedal allot since I seem to place my right foot on the left side of the pedal allot. My foot slips off and the car moves forward slightly until I get my foot back on the pedal.
  3. this is the connection point I'm using for my iphone5 using the thunderbolt connector mount to the proclip base.
  4. Yes it was but I succeeded in what I set out to do, getting the best possible range I could from the low power range of a mobile CB radio. I used to sit on top of the highest peak in my area while my buddy would do the same up in the Sierra Mountains at a distance of more than 200 miles away and we could talk back and forth like we were together in the same car. Plus if the atmospheric conditions were just right, I could skip off the atmosphere and talk with people half way around the world. Was like having the power of a base station in a mobile transmitter. Crazy I know but this was all during the time when CB's were being made popular by the Smoky and the Bandit movies and also why I bought my Trans Am. The power of advertising.
  5. Funny this subject has come up. Lately I have had so much trouble with answering incoming calls. I gave up with using the right side paddle as it rarely works. Instead I have been pushing the button which is displayed on the MFT screen which lets me take the call. However lately that hasn't even been working since it doesn't come up faithfully on the screen and I usually end up pulling my iphone 5 out of the cradle to take the call. Then once the call is in motion I can reinstall my iphone in the cradle and usually the call transfers to the speakers. I'm thinking at least some of the problem might be because of my cradle and the lightning connector being inserted and removed so many times into my iphone5. Very annoying problem to say the least.
  6. Frank, impressive facts thanks for taking the time to share them here. As for the air dam and a rear diffuser, these are the two things I plan to address next. The air dam will be first and easiest to construct. Stay tuned, Brother Mike
  7. Let me expand my comment, I drilled holes in the roof of my Trans Am for a 102" Stainless Steel whip antenna mounted on a coil spring. I placed it in the exact middle of the roof to use the length of the car serve as my ground plane.
  8. Adair, I kept it going for about 5 growing seasons before giving it up. Went great for a couple years then things seemed to taper off. Most of my fruit trees have gotten sick and are dead or dying. I lost my big 25 year old Bing Cherry tree. Used to be a big producer, but is now mostly dead, sadly. Books no can't say I do, most of what I know I learned from my Dad who grew up on a farm in East Texas during the 30's and 40's.
  9. I could never drill holes in Maxus, made that mistake back in 1976 when I drilled holes in the roof of a perfectly good Pontiac Trans Am .
  10. Ha! someone has to always be poking at the Prius, right? We'll see if this configuration proves anything. BTW since writing my earlier thread I went out into my shop (garage) and poked through my supply of 1 inch thick clear Acrylic sheets. Wanted black but I don't have any long enough in 1 inch thick to fabricate two copies of my knock off of the factory airfoils to put on either side of the rear window. Will be a challenge to shape the aero surfaces with the limited tools I have at my disposal. Wish I had access to the tools that Paul I guess it is has for all his aero mods fabrication work. :)
  11. Here is my latest GasPod configuration. I've added as a test before shopping them off to Brother Jus, 7 of my black gaspods. I'm trying to see if there is any change to my AvMPG over my usual daily commute (13 miles one way) while we are having this unseasonably dry winter with no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days. Also if it helps keep the backend of Maxus cleaner, I just washed her on Friday during my last service and maintenance visit to Frontier Ford. Fingers crossed.
  12. jump over to this tread for pics of my recent gaspod changes...http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2340-installed-gaspods-on-liftgate/page-6?do=findComment&comment=39138
  13. Even it its not Cajun it has that polka rhythm and accordion sound which I like so much and I can't understand the words. Great music and the Sweds know how to build a good rally car and live a good like.
  14. I'd be very surprised to not hear that having that cargo carrier on the roof didn't cause a big MPG loss. Ford designed it to slip through the air with only the given footprint. Anything else is like putting a wall at a right angle to the roofline. It will create drag but how much I'm not sure? How much of a gambler are you is all I can say. I can understand that if you take a cross country trip with 4 riders there's not much extra room behind the sets for all their needed stuff, a.k.a. luggage. So what else can you do? Guess I'm glad it's just me and the wife when we venture out for a road trip.
  15. Hummmmm brother Jus, point taken since Ford does not approve these changes for the 2013 models. I'm still working on my first extended warranty with another to back it up when the first runs out. Given these beastie's are expensive to repair outside the warranty, I wouldn't want to jeopardize my coverage which I dearly paid for. I'm sure those plastic bumps underneath the body will not be cheap. Experience tells me that molded parts aren't cheap since they want to recoup tooling costs at the very least.
  16. Nick I dare to say I will be researching for more of this music since I spent time in New Orleans (Nawleens to locals) after Katrina blew through and I became infected with a love for Cajun style music as a result of my visit. Thanks for sharing.
  17. One thing I will mention from my experience as one who USE TO to have a bee hive in my backyard. I decided to get rid of it after my bees started becoming aggressive if I came to close with my electric lawn mower which wasn't as noisy as a gas mower, but still they didn't like it. Many times I ran off looking for shelter because of angry bees buzzing my body. I suggest having a place to put them where they will not be disturbed. Which is why I guess you see those little white boxes (hives) grouped together out in an open field. What prompted me to start my own hive is when I found a large football sized group of bee's clustered together hanging from my grape arbor one day. All these submissive worker bee's huddling all over a newly crowned queen bee. Which I assume came from a nearby large Pepper Tree which has been home to a large bee population in the inner bowels of this massive tree for years. If you find such a grouping of a newly spawned colony, it is important to position a bee hive with it's lid removed underneath the cluster of bee's (CAREFULLY) don't want to piss them off. They will eventually find the hive and the workers will check it out and bring the new queen to it as their new colony. Once that happens the lid can be carefully placed as bee's will be moving to and from the hive. Then you can move the hive to a better location where they can live undisturbed. BTW local honey is great for those who suffer from seasonal allergies (like myself) since it is made from all the pollen of plants and tree's common to your area.
  18. Thanks for that info, btw it is an impressive but sad sight to see 20+ CMax Hybrids and Energi's sitting in a long row waiting for new homes. If I had the money I would certainly buy an Energi to sit besides my Hybrid (Maxus) in the garage. I am that sold on the one I have.
  19. Really! they must be hiding the other 2014's in a nearby parking garage that I can't as easily walk into like the one I've been shooting pics from which is out in an open air parking lot across the street from their main sales/service complex.
  20. Brother Jus I for one will push for the incorporation of the 2014 changes to our 2013 models. It is only right that we should be able to benefit from them and not be excluded just because we bought the first generation CMax. If nothing else I think Ford should offer them to us because we pioneered and brought to light the weaknesses they produced into the 2013. Test mule's so to speak.
  21. Went to the Sillycorn Valley International Car Show today which is running through Sunday at the San Jose Convention Center. As the wife and I came up the escalator and through the doors to the main convention hall I saw a CMax Engeri in Ingot Silver and directly behind it was a Ruby Red Hybrid. Both 2013 cars. There was quite a bit of attention to both cars with people getting in and checking out the interior. Nice to see Ford doing a good showing. Answered some questions for curious on-lookers, I was giving out more info than any of the personal working in the Ford area. Talked with one worker and he wasn't a Ford employee, just a worker who follows the car show circuit. So glad a true owner was there to give clear answers.
  22. REALLY! I didn't know that, thanks, I learned something today. I guess who ever mention it in an earlier thread that I should get the VIN # could do the same thing from any location? Have internet...will travel so to speak.
  23. Sorry I didn't think to take a pic of the VIN plate, I'll have to go back.
  24. Hello everyone, I went back to Frontier Ford this afternoon and took some pics from under the front bumper of the air deflectors which are in front of all four tires. Below are some pics. I checked out the front hood seal by probing my hand under the hood since I wasn't able to see it with the hood open. But first impression is that it seems allot more closed off and taller than on a 2013, the space under the front edge of the hood seems less open if that makes any sense? Sorry not sure how else to express it. The front deflectors are a molded black plastic mounted to the under carriage covering just in front of the rubber deflectors that all 2013's came with. The rears are just in front of the rear tires. I'm not convinced these will help much. I wonder how noticeable the gearing changes are in the transmission? I might need to take a test drive.
