I have the base Sync (NOT MFT). Sync version # 4.4, checked the owner.ford.com, no recalls under my vehicle.

Hi all My CMAX HEV with ~43K miles has sync issues.! Dealership detected it has bad APIM module rendering the Sync inoperable -> Un-pairs my phone , Bluetooth, Voice commands & USB don’t work . Message on the screen is "Blue tooth media disconnected" This issue happens randomly every couple of weeks & then after a few days without doing anything I can pair up my phone, play music & everything goes back to normal until the next event. Three such events in the past two months. Going thru the master reset process does not help. Software versions are up to date. I dug up a Customer Satisfaction program 12M02 (see attached pdf ) which calls out certain vehicles built in 2011-2013 with bad APIM modules covered with an extended warranty up to 5 years & no mileage constraints. Interestingly 2013 CMAX is not in the list. The dealership says they have to replace the APIM module costing ~$600 parts & labor since I am out of the base warranty. We are also tried reaching out to Ford Customer Service & they are throwing 40% "good will" coverage of the total cost. Since the past two days the sync decided to show me some mercy & is working fine. I am torn if I should take the 40% off deal & get the module replaced or just live with this quirky sync. I am concerned the same issue might repeat even after replacing. I read somewhere on pulling the fuses although it did not help for me. Any advise SB-10052069-8195.pdf

Hi all See the attached annual report from Fuelly.com . 41.8 mpg average & I am enjoying it. Just wanted to share the FE that was tracked since purchased in Dec '13 on my 2013 Cmax after ~20K miles. When I first joined this forum, someone had mentioned that true representative FE is 1 yr worth of data & I agree . Vehicle endured the harsh Michigan winters & mild summers. Please share if anyone has tracked FE. Driving conditions: 90% city (~45-50 mph), ~60 miles per day to & fro to work. Location: Metro Detroit area

An update... turns out it was a bad heater core, dealer replaced the core & the noise is gone.Luckly vehicle was covered under the warranty. Thank you

Hi all I get a very annoying whistling noise from the vents when set on heat >= 72F/ ~ 2-3 fan speed. It is like tea kettle whistling. I either need to go down to 1 speed fan setting or go all the way to max speed to mask the noise. Any one else having the same issue, please advise. Thanks

As a follow up to my original post here are some more of my findings now that my CMAX has ~ 4800miles. In summary... there are 3 different mpg numbers I am monitoring. #1) Average FE -----> This is the grand average FE displayed of all trips, which I've learnt not to re-set. #2) Trip FE ---> which is FE that I use between fill ups, I reset it after every fill up #3) Pocket book FE ---> my own calculation of total miles/ gals used what the pump displays, conventional method # 2 has always come out ~2 to 3 mpg higher than #3. # 1 is always least (so far, but comes closer to # 3). I believe #1 paints a realistic picture of the car's Avg FE. I've consistently used Sam's club gas station , usually within 3-4 miles of driving after the low fuel indicator comes on & one time I filled up at a different location , Exxon, out of curiosity. Exxon claims it dispensed 12.5gals when I was expecting the number to be ~ 11.5 gals which is what a typical full tank would take. And the car tells me it used only 10.7 gals. I've come to believe that root cause of the discrepancy lies in the the post that Noah Harbinger posted. Thank you Noah H. Also, 35F ambient temperature seems to be tipping point. As we in SE Michigan come out the deep freeze , the Avg FE is I am getting ~ 41.8mpg & has been consistently moving up. Yesterday evening & this morning to & fro to work the trip summary shows 53 mpg after a 26mile drive one way. Love my CMAX !

Hello, I am new to this forum & recently picked up a new 2013 CMAX hybrid in December last year. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue that I am having & shed some light on. I have ~ 1100 miles on the car now & always fill up full tank of gas & reset my trip odometer & average FE to zero after every fill up. I have filled up the fuel tank 4 times in the past 6 weeks. With the temperatures mostly below 32F in SE Michigan area since the past couple of weeks the dash on my CMAX shows Avg FE ~38mpg between fill ups which I thought was ok given the temperatures . But, when I do the math in the conventional way (taking the difference of Odometer readings & dividing the difference by the gallons used) the FE number comes out about 4mpg lower than what is shown on the dash which I think is huge. I drive ~ 60 miles a day to & fro to work with a mix of city & highway & don't waste gas by warming up the car in the mornings. Please let me know if anyone else has noticed this issue. Could it be something to do with break-in miles or cold weather ? The discrepancy is too much to swallow.
