  1. This seems to be a recurring issue with my wife's 2013 C-Max Hybrid. I am a sales consultant at a Ford dealership and sold her the car. We were excited at first...but, we've had a re-program done several times and it seems to be OK for a few weeks and then gradually goes into EV mode less and less. I'm getting better mileage in my Focus demo...averaging 6.6L/100km while the C-Max is currently at 6.9.

I've asked lots of questions about this to my folks at Ford and can't seem to get anywhere. The main reason I joined this forum was to see what other owners fuel use was like and, to see if anyone was experiencing the same issues that we are.

Hey there Ray, thanks for reaching out! I'm happy to help however I can. What's the current odometer reading on your wife's C-MAX? Also, please let me know if you've had the service department take a look and if so, what they have (or haven't) discovered.

  2. Hello;

Newbie here; have had a CMax for about 2 weeks now. Noticed a rattle in the headliner on the test drive. Dealer said they fixed it before delivery, but it's still there. Anyone else have this issue and had it resolved? Would appreciate input to point the service folks at when they look at it. It seems to be near the sun glass holder, in that general area. I also notice that if i push up on the headliner just in front of the retracting shade, it appears that there is some sort of adhesive the sticks for a second then lets go again. Sounds like 2 pieces of tape being pulled apart.

    Thanks for any input.

    Hi JasDmw,

Have you taken it to the dealer to see if they could pin point the noise?

  3. I'm at 7,574 kms today.  I bought mine Sept 30, 2014 and I have the Full Ford Extended Care for 5 year / 120,000 kms with $0 deductible and instant rental allowance.  I am working with my dealer, Hallmark Ford who are very good to deal with, and they are contacting Ford Engineering about the issue.   I was in the auto industry for 17 years and really the intermittent problem is the worst kind. I know if I was the Ford dealer, I would be at a loss for what to do and would want instructions from Ford as to what to look at.

Glad to hear that this is being taken care of at the dealer. I'll look into this further on my end. Please send me a private message with the VIN, your full name, and phone number.

  4. My 2014 C-Max SEL has a strange running water sound occasionally which appears to be coming from the upper right passensger side windshield or upper right passenger front door area or A-Pillar?  It happens only when raining but not always.   It is very strange.  I can't seem to make it do it by running a garden hose up in that area.  I had a passenger that heard it the other day too and it wasn't really raining hard at all.  It just occasionally happens.  Anyone come across this?  I'm quite mechanically inclinded and I can't see any obvious reason for this.  I don't see a point in taking it to the dealer if I can't replicate the problem.

    Hi Rorysbrown,

Our Ford-Certified Technicians are in the best position to assist with a diagnosis. What's the current odometer reading on your C-MAX? Please let me know the details and I'll see how to help.

  5. I just read through this entire thread since my 2013 suffers from the same noise at an exact range of 2300 to 2500 rpm. The dealer dismissed my concerns but it felt like something is wrong and this thread confirms it.

I'm wondering is this only isolated to 2013 models? And is it specific to the higher trims like SEL and Energi. Could the panoramic roof mess with the ANC?

I also wanted to note that even in the warm weather right now it still occurs. It was 16C this morning (Canada) and I had it going twice. Exactly like the mp3 that was posted in this thread.

Lastly has anyone had it fully fixed yet? Is it even fixable?

Thanks for any updates and a big thanks to Jenie for her detailed posts. Have you found a resolution?

I responded to your other post, SillyBear. Check it out here

  6. Hi all,

I've been a lurker for a few months now, bought my 2013 C-MAX in January, and I've been loving everything about it. It performed admirably during a rather harsh winter in Canada and now that summer is coming I can't wait to take it on extended drives.

Now for my main reason of posting. For about 3 months now I've been noticing a rather loud humming noise when I'm accelerating and the ICE is on. This predominantly only happens when I'm on a bit of an uphill and the RPMs are between 2300 to 2500. If I left off the gas, the loud hum stops and it sounds like a normal car accelerating, or if I press a bit harder and exceed 2500 RPM the noise also disappears.

The noise inside the cabin makes my C-MAX sound like I have one of those large fart cannon exhausts on my vehicle and believe I cringe when those ricers drive by.

I took it to Ford and even took a technician out with me and he claimed that it's normal for the car to make this noise if it's under a specific load. I explained to him that it wasn't like this when I first got it and it's something that developed, but he kept reassuring me there's nothing wrong with it, even went as far as telling me that I'm now "listening" to the car more since the new car high has passed.

So here I am, still questioning whether there's something wrong with my C-MAX or not. I'm hoping someone might be able to help shed some light on this issue, whether the tech is right or if I should go seek another opinion.

Also quick side note, does anyone else's pano roof curtain work only half the time? My daughters ask me to close it sometimes and it doesn't work. I have to put the car in park, shut it off and on to get it working again. Quite odd.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey SillyBear,

Have you considered seeking a second opinion at another dealer? Locate dealerships in your area here. Also, let me know the current odometer reading and I'll see how to best assist on my end.

Sure is!  I've reached out to FordServiceCA to take a look, but you can also PM them directly. :)

That would be me! Thanks, Meagan!
