Anybody popped for one of those 3D printers of sufficient size? I suppose you could craft an add-on nosepiece extension that fits over/anchors to the existing armrest.

Going Siriusly-off-topic for the music-discovery, open-world types... I've done sound for a local community theatre, so I have accumulated a collection of (mostly free) music I wouldn't ordinarily (or ever?) listen to, but I often rely on it for pre-show, intermission, and post-show music appropriate for the theme or time period of the play. And yes, the theatre pays an annual ASCAP license fee to play these tunes legally. Amazon.com (and I suppose Amazon.ca) offers at least 100 completely free albums for download all the time. I check this bookmark at least weekly: http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-MP3-Downloads/zgbs/dmusic/digital-music-album/ The default selection is Top 100 Paid. Click 'Top 100 Free'. Many are 'samplers' from smaller music publishers, featuring one or two songs each from their featured artists. With a registered Amazon account (Amazon Prime is NOT required) you can save any current selections to your Amazon Cloud Player to listen to the full tracks, and then download those tracks you enjoy to your devices, or delete them and move on... Disclaimers: I've often used the term 'Alternative' as a euphemism for 'not very good'. And IMO there's a lot of free 'Alternative' to be found. There is plenty of 'Death Metal' too, but you can usually tell by the title that Black Flags of Hate by the artist Thulcandra on the album Napalm Records All Stars isn't going to sound much like Perry Como singing Catch a Falling Star. Vintage Vinyl Anyone? I purchased a quality USB turntable with a quality phono cartridge and stylus a few years ago. First I converted my own vinyl collection, at least those that weren't worn-out. Now I dig through the $1 bin of vintage vinyl albums at the Half Price Books stores in my area to fill out my collection of 60's-70's-80's music and convert it to digital tracks. Vintage Vinyl Purchasing Hint for those of you too young to remember cassette audio: By the late 1970's, the quality of home cassette tape audio recording and playback equipment improved to the point where most people bought albums, and then recorded them onto cassettes to play in the car or on their Walkman, and then they shelved the vinyl, having played it, at most, only enough times to make a tape. So you can find a huge selection of vintage vinyl recordings (that you probably heard your parents or grandparents playing) from the late 70's and newer, in perfect condition, and very cheap. One pop or click doesn't bother me any more than it did 'way back when' when there was no digital alternative. And $1 for a vinyl album of eight or ten classic rock songs usually beats $.99 or $1.29 per track for some re-mastered and re-mixed digital stuff that often doesn't sound much like the albums I virtually memorized, note for note.

Here's a link to the 2014 pdf version http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/2014-CMAX-Owner-Manual-version-1_OM_EN_11_2013.pdf It's also available from owner.ford.com, but I don't have a link. It's MUCH easier to download and search than paging through the printed version!

Another way of seeing the same data without so many words… ;) 6-month moving averages show the steep decline of C-MAX Hybrid sales (though Energi sales were actually increasing during that period) last year, and the trend heading back up beginning in February EDIT: Isn't it interesting that article wnuk links above NEVER MENTIONS the word "batteries", nor a certain "CONSUMERS' ONION" WHICH SHALL NOT BE NAMED in the Series Of Unfortunate Events leading to the loss of ~1,000 sales per month that began last September. You'd think it was all strictly due to gas mileage ratings...

Hope they get things back to normal "up there" soon. Since you're a new owner, I thought I'd mention the 'Door Function Switch' to keep the courtesy lights "off" if someone enters or exits the vehicle during the movie. You can temporarily turn OFF the door-activated lights with the "C" button on the light as shown on pages 95-96 of the 2013 Owner's Manual. (Don't know about the 2014.)

THAT was the video review and reviewer who convinced me we absolutely needed to try (and of course buy) a C-MAX. He also reviewed the C-MAX Energi. Daniel Gray is a great car reviewer, really down-to-earth. He reminds me a lot of the late Victor French who played "Mark Gordon" in the TV series "Highway to Heaven" with Michael Landon. Gray is now an editor and primarily doing reviews for Autobytel.com: http://www.autobytel.com/authors/dan-gray/283/ He still posts occasional updates about his 1989 Honda Civic project car on MPGomatic channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/mpgomatic/videos

Best Highway Cruising Speed for MPG's
kostby replied to stratosurfer's topic in 2013 Ford C-MAX Hybrid
"Sweet Spot" is absolutely not a myth, but, yes, for high-Internal Combustion Engine mode you must have all 4 conditions:1) Eco Cruise enabled 2) ~67-68mph 3) on nearly level ground, and 4) with a high State-Of-Charge in the High Voltage Battery the digital 43.6mpg was the average for the trip thus far, but notice the 'instant' mpg indicator to the right registers higher This was maintained over about a 7 mile stretch of road that rises and then falls a total of about 30 feet from start to finish, per GPS Visuallizer The sharp changes at the beginning and the last 2 or so miles at the end are the on- and off-ramps to the businesses nearest the stretch of interstate highway -
That's because you were raised in the age when parents preached personal responsibility and common sense: "You don't need a BB gun. You could put somebody's eye out!" But for a generation or so at least, we have lived in the age of mega-product-liability-law firms who bombard us with TV-commercials and infomercials and who work on contingency to protect all of humanity against any and all threats, real or imagined...

When I ordered mats for our C-MAX from the dealer, I expected to receive the carpeted ones with the C-MAX logo, because I didn't even realize there was an all-weather option at the time, but they are the same price. So I received the genuine Ford all-weather mat set with the C-MAX logo, and they're really very nice. I'll also mention that the driver's side front mat does lock in place at the two points already set into the carpet, preventing the infamous 'Toyota 1.2 billion dollar floor mat settlement' problem. http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/toyota-reaches-12-billion-settlement-to-end-criminal-probe/2014/03/19/5738a3c4-af69-11e3-9627-c65021d6d572_story.html Depending upon how much the winter road chemicals and crud discolor these rubber mats (if at all), I might get the carpeted mats while they're still available, to use next summer.

Do you have any Regrets in Buying the C-Max
kostby replied to NCtoCAgirlie's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
C-MAX sales are growing again. Increasing sales of a particular model has several related consequences for sellers and buyers: 1) increasing sales of existing inventory means fewer cars sitting on the lot. Good for sellers. 2) fewer cars on the lot means the dealers aren't as "desperate" to get rid of them, especially below true cost. Good for sellers. 3) fewer cars on the lots means (some) buyers will have to order and wait to get the exact model and equipment they want, and those buyers are less able to negotiate a super low price. Good for sellers. 4) fewer cars on the lot means there will be room for brand new 2015 inventory arriving (in the next 30-90 days) that can be sold at a higher price. Good for sellers. 5) The 'ancient' inventory still around will have a very attractive price, and require very little negotiation, but the buyer will have very limited choices, usually either the 'base' models with absolutely no options, or the 'fully loaded' models with every option, and almost nothing in-between. Great for buyers who want and can afford exactly what is still available. In central Indiana, Ford is offering retail purchasers $750 more on remaining 2013's (up to $3,250) than 2014's (up to $2,500), without considering $1,000 Conquest lease cash, $500 Military, or $500 recent College grad incentives. BUT, base price of 2013 SE's was $1030 higher than the 2014 SE's, $25,200 vs $24,170, so a comparably equipped 2014 SE is actually a better deal. Transportation cost increased from $795 to $825 from 2013 to 2014, so Ford decreased base price by an additional $30 on 2014's. Base price of SEL's also dropped $30 from 2013's to 2014's, again because Transportation cost rose $30 for 2014, so there was no net price change. Your bet bet now is to search for dealers in your region 'stuck' with lots of aging inventory (not limited to just C-MAX inventory) who really need to move them for cash-flow purposes. Because of the two cycles of lowered EPA estimates, on 2013 and 2014 models built on or before June 15, 2014, you actually need to look at the physical car VIN sticker on the driver's side door frame to determine manufacturing day/month/year. Also note that C-MAX has date formatted as Day/Month/Year, not the more traditional (American) Month/Day/Year notation. Monroney window stickers for cars built prior to June 15, 2014 show the date the last EPA estimate sticker was printed, not the manufacture date. Or wait for the dead of winter (Jan-Feb-March). -

Search for 'WeatherTech' to locate several custom floor mat discussion threads in the forums. I have the $95 Ford all-weather (rubber) floor mats, and they're do protect the carpet and collect excess debris, mud, and snow, but they're certainly not elegant

Whats your opinion on Fuel Cell Vehicles (FCVs)?
kostby replied to TopherTheME's topic in Lounge: Off-Topic
There are already hundreds of wind turbines in several huge windfarms visible along Interstate 65 in Benton, Jasper, and White counties in northwestern Indiana, about an hour north of me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_power_in_Indiana This is one of the largest: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fowler_Ridge_Wind_Farm -
Homestead, I think Ford has a verbal agreement with GM to send them to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY, then Mother Nature makes lemonade... http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/02/12/corvette-museum-sinkhole/5417171/ But they'll have to make new arrangements now, because they're going to be filling the sinkhole in, likely with GM ignition switches... ;) http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2014/09/01/corvette-museum-sinkhole/14943143/ Seriously, for product liability reasons, I'd say they're studied, then crushed. If they've already found out what they need to know during the prior attempts to repair, maybe they're just crushed.

Likely the C-MAX Preview Guide brochure pre-dated the latest EPA estimate revision. The footnotes 3 and 4 following EPA Estimated Ratings say Based on 2014 model year ratings. Actual mileage will vary. On June 12, 2014, Ford publicly identified an error in the formula and lowered EPA estimates (again), from 45 city/43 combined/40 highway to 42 city/40 combined/37 highway https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2014/06/12/ford-motor-company-lowers-fuel-economy-ratings--for-six-vehicles.html
