    Hello all

Welcome and :congrats: Unlike many car forums, we're a pretty friendly, easy-going online C-MAX community here, with many types of information and experiences with C-MAX. And the best part is that most of the information here is true! ;) At your leisure, I recommend browsing the entire forum from the oldest topics to the newest. It took me quite a number of months! That provides a good 'feel' for the resources available here, and what gets talked about most often. Maybe, remembering that you saw a thread about tires, or the noise the electric AC compressor makes, or the spare key blade inside the SEL fob might help you or one of your customers. Not every topic here will be of interest of course. And the occasional rants about dealer service departments may hit too close to home, but this online community contains many lifetimes of knowledge about all things C-MAX and hundreds of other fascinating topics! Just out of curiosity, who do YOU complain to when your service department can't fix YOUR vehicle the first time?
  2. 10-4 And that's why law enforcement officers in the heart of NASCAR country must now display the NASCAR "move over" flag (blue with diagonal orange stripe) in most states before writing you the ticket. ;) Or radio ahead to deploy stop sticks just up the road. Or shoot your tires out. Whatever gets the job done. And doesn't get captured on their in-car camera :camera:...
  3. Greencmax, The 2nd-generation EPA Fuel Estimate information (showing 45/city 40/highway 43/combined instead of the current 42/37/40) predicted your actual 2014 Fuel Cost for ~15,000 miles quite accurately, $1250! Falling fuel prices had a bit to do with that, too. Our Fuelly 12-month average (March 2014 through March 2015) is 41.4 mpg using odometer miles and gallons pumped. The car display is a bit more optimistic at 41.7. The summer high for a refuel was 49.0 mpg, and the winter low was 32.8 mpg for a refuel in January. We're retired and have an adult son living with us. We traveled just over 5,000 miles in our C-MAX during first year of ownership, about half of our 10,000 annual miles traveled. Our usual trips are 3 to 5 miles in a small suburban city of 20,000 located 25 miles from downtown Indianapolis. Once or twice a month we make a 50 to 75 mile round trip to Indy or Lafayette. November '14 through March '15 we had little snow, but it was significantly colder than average. I installed an oil pan preheater on the C-MAX, but didn't use it every time during the winter. It helped raise mpg's a bit when I remembered to plug it in overnight, but the difference between 32mpg "without preheating" and maybe 36 mpg "with preheating" for a 3 mile trip can be measured in fractions of a teaspoon. The ICE ran to bring the cabin up to temp, regardless. We're retired, so we often let the car sit in the garage and took one of the other cars two cars parked in the driveway. We often take our 2003 Pontiac Vibe 1.8L (it sits outside all winter) on short local trips. It averaged 25.9 mpg over the last year for about 4,100 miles, and the low during the winter was 16.7 mpg for a refuel in early February when we never left town. Our third car is a 1996 Taurus 3.0 V6 that achieves about 12mpg around town year round. It manages significantly better mpgs on the highway, but we just never take it out of town, and drive it less than 1000 miles a year. Still handy when the 3 of us all need to be in different places at the same time. So even in cold temps without preheating and driving short trips, the Ford hybrid technology successfully achieves about DOUBLE the miles per gallon 32.8 C-MAX versus 16.7 Vibe, for our WORST wintertime driving patterns.
  4. For 18 grand I could buy a 100,000-mile C-MAX Energi, a vintage 70's Ford car without a drivetrain, and a welding torch, and spend the rest of my life building my own Ford Hybrid Electric hotrod. A 1970's 2-door Maverick DOES have the same wheelbase as the C-MAX… Maybe I could create one of those Frankenstein-ish Subaru/Prius Pruck or Primo limo conversions from the guys at AutoBeYours in Scottsburg, Indiana. They now sell rebuilt C-MAXes too. http://autobeyours.com/rebuildable%20Prius%20and%20LEAF%20hybrids.htm
  5. Ford apparently wants everything 'perfect' so the "Lemon law" cars purchased in California can be resold. Here's a "Lemon Law" 2013 C-MAX Energi originally sold and repurchased in California, with very low miles for sale at Rizza Ford in the Chicago area: http://www.rizzafordnorthriverside.com/inventory/2013-ford-c-max-energi-fwd-sel-4dr-wagon-1fadp5cu8dl540053 Here's a snippet from the CarFax report. 6. March 2015 Sales Updates: 1054 C-MAX Hybrids sold - 27th best monthly sales 715 C-MAX Energi Hybrids sold - 11th best monthly sales since introduction As always, prior month charts and tables are deleted from prior monthly updates because each update always contain all prior data.
  7. 2013 C-MAX SE (04/2013 build date) with 201A Equipment Group, so it's the base audio system MyFord SYNC, not MyFordTouch. 1. Bluetooth devices DO need to be re-paired after the update. Asks to load Phonebook and Call History, and that worked as designed. After loading, I was able to see contacts and call history. 2. AST Automatic station seek and program now stores (10?) stations in numeric frequency order from lowest to highest. Originally, it seemed to be stored in random order, perhaps by strongest signal first? 3. My 4.4 (Kit-Kat™) Android phone (LG Fuel LG34C) on Bluetooth using Google Play as the music app now displays artist and song title, and reconnects automatically after power-off. Not really sure what SYNC did before, because I've only had this phone a few days, and didn't try a Bluetooth SYNC at all before the update. 4. Steering wheel buttons serve to increase and decrease volume (as does the volume control on the phone) and goes forward/backward among the tracks selected by the music player. (I was in a single folder with 22 tracks. At the end of the last track, SYNC automatically paused until I selected another folder with the music app on the phone. 5. Not sure if this was caused by the update, but using Media SYNC with USB cable to the same device, it no longer "sees" songs stored on the phone's 32GB microSDHC card, only those stored within the phone's 2GB internal storage. Prior to the update, I successfully Media SYNC'd the phone with the appropriate USB cable several times, and after a ~10-minute wait while Indexing (about 5GB of songs), it saw all the music stored in folders (artists name, as created/downloaded from Amazon) on the SD card. 6. Haven't tried any Voice commands since the update. Rereading the Owner's manual SYNC section reminded me of just how incredibly powerful even the base SYNC can be when you take time to learn the "language" of commands and key words.
  8. The Ferrari V-10 was a screamer, all right. Here's a sound clip from the fall 2000 F1 practice at Indianapolis. FERRARI F1 V10 circa 2000.mp3
  9. http://mobile.reuters.com/article/article/idUSKBN0M929920150314 ScubaDadMiami, this race appears to be in your area. Is there any coverage on TV, radio, the local papers, or social media? I had to go to a British-based news site (Reuters) to even find this mention about it. Still waiting for SCCA to form a 'showroom stock' Prius III Hybrid vs C-MAX Hybrid race series! I think we'd wipe them off the track.
  10. I know 'Unread Messages' does not work when I am not logged in. But obviously, you had to be logged in to post your message… Maybe delete the browser cookie for this site?
  11. I'll be able to confirm in a few days that Walmart is a participating retailer when I get an email confirmation that my Mobil 1 rebate submitted online here has been accepted and is being processed. I purchased a 5-gal jug of 0W20 online for in-store pickup today. Even without a rebate at just over $5 a quart, it's still far less expensive than what the dealer charges for full synthetic.
  12. In the Old West, those folks were called "Pioneers" and, if they survived had the physical scars to prove it. Nowdays, it's euphemistically called the "Early Adopter Tax" and it comes standard with every bleeding-edge tech product. You have the opportunity to finish debugging what the developers didn't discover before the product shipped, and pay a premium price for the privilege. And you'll likely meet some great tech support people along the way! Here's a Certified Used 2012 Leaf SV with less than 18,000 miles being sold by a Nissan dealer for under 14K. OUCH! http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=46204&endYear=2016&modelCode1=LEAF&showcaseOwnerId=69432855&startYear=1981&makeCode1=NISSAN&listingType=used&listingTypes=used&searchRadius=50&mmt=%5BNISSAN%5BLEAF%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=387424886&Log=0
  13. Of course people are doing it. Few, if any of those people, are active in this forum. A Lexus dealer in Maryland listed this used C-MAX last May:
  14. There are no specs announced for a 2016 US model C-MAX, so it's impossible to speculate what any number might be until the Fleet Guide is released months from now. The 2013 C-MAX Hybrid turning circle is published at 35.8 feet. http://www.edmunds.com/ford/c-max-hybrid/2013/road-test-specs1.html What are you driving now? If it's a recent mid-sized front-wheel-drive car, you likely won't notice a great deal of difference. Front wheel drive cars in general cannot turn as tight as the front wheels of rear-wheel-drive-only vehicles, because the front wheels of front wheel drive cars are connected to drive shafts and CV joints, and just can't turn as tight. My daily driver is a 2003 Pontiac Vibe. The track is about .5 inches narrower. The car is about 2 inches shorter than C-MAX and the wheelbase is also about 2-inches shorter. Turning circle for the Vibe is published at 36.7 feet, yet it "feels" as if it turns about 1 foot tighter than the C-MAX. http://www.edmunds.com/pontiac/vibe/2003/features-specs/ By the time I had driven our C-MAX a few times, I no longer "felt" much difference.

  17. February 2015 Ford US Sales update https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North%20America/US/2015/03/03/feb15sales.pdf 1,376 combined total of C-MAX Hybrid and C-MAX Energi vehicles sold in February 2015, represents an 18% increase over 1,160 combined sales in January 2015. The January 2015 765 C-MAX Hybrid sales was the lowest ever monthly sales in the 29 months the Hybrid was available, and 395 Energi sales was 25th of the 28 months the C-MAX Energi was sold. UPDATE Mar-04-2015 450pm: Full charts and tables posted PEANUT GALLERY ANALYSIS: MY $.02 Do changes (even drastic declines) in these numbers mean much in 'the big picture' at Ford? Not much, from a sales volume or sales dollar standpoint. Hybrids and electrics are about 3.5% of Ford US unit sales during 2014. http://insideevs.com/monthly-plug-in-sales-scorecard/ Sales Perspective: Ford averages more pickup truck sales in 2 months (60,000 per month) than the entire 2014 combined sales of plug-in hybrids and electrics from ALL manufacturers. (120,000) http://insideevs.com/monthly-plug-in-sales-scorecard/ Doubling these recent Hybrid and Energi sales numbers (to 3,000 per month) would still make C-MAX Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid sales less than half of combined Lincoln Division sales each month. (7,000 per month) Ford appears committed to continue offering a wide range of vehicles. Does anything we owners do or complain about in these forums even matter to Ford corporate? Yes. Ford has assigned employees to work within these forums to offer assistance to owners. Ford is no longer relying heavily on incentives to move C-MAX Hybrids and Energi models that were languishing on dealer lots during late 2013 through mid 2014. That signals to me that Ford may have arrived at a 'comfortable' number, closely matching actual monthly production with actual retail sales. Ford has invested the money necessary to develop and produce a viable hybrid platform. We often speculate in this forum about marketing miscues, production line errors, and incomplete development before launch, but those things are symptomatic of the current auto industry and government regulation climate, not some character defect in the leaders at Ford.
  18. The UK brochure cites ISO 3832 for measuring cargo capacity. http://www.ford.co.uk/Hidden/iBrochure/C-MAX http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail.htm?csnumber=32995 Can't view the whole spec document for free, but apparently they use specific volume-sized containers simulating luggage, with rounded corners and such. https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#!iso:std:32995:en US spec C-MAX volume might be measured in sand, sugar cubes, or simply calculated from a CAD drawing, not an actual measurement.

  20. Welcome Meagan! It's great to see that Ford is putting ever more time and effort into customer service via these forums!
  21. Messages posted as #28 and #29 in this thread concern a C-MAX Energi, but might help confirm/eliminate another potential cause of the noise. (I apologize for the formatting, but trying to copy and paste original posts back into the thread doesn't work well.) ====== OFFLINE Dave Greene New Member C-MAX Hybrid Facebook 2 posts Posted 21 May 2014 - 09:04 PM I have a 2013 C-Max Energi and I've experienced what sounds like a "woo sound" for the past few weeks each time the ICE engages. I took the car in to the dealer today to get a couple of the recalls looked after and mentioned the sound. They called me back late in the afternoon to say that it's the fuel pump and they've ordered a replacement. ======== #29OFFLINE Dave Greene New Member C-MAX Hybrid Facebook 2 posts Posted 22 May 2014 - 06:04 PM Dave Greene, on 21 May 2014 - 9:04 PM, said: Fuel pump replaced.
