  1. Filled up for the first time today. Got a full tank and i reset the trip miles. Miles to E said 599.00. It is a 2 mile trip to home. When i got home I noticed it said 593. So did it adjusf to the correct or close to reading or is there something wrong. Did not drive 7 miles home. Our Escape had this same thing every time you filled up. Could of gotten 573.00 on the first tank but my wife was freaking out that she was going to run out of gas with only 60 miles to E.

  2. Thx for all the info. I did not know that option was there. I found many that would work and saves about $2k over the SEL. an SE with 202A and the winter package and I think I would be good. We might also consider the SEL if the dealer makes us a good deal.

Going to look and compare the SE and SEL tonight.

So I would guess that better rebates might be coming next month with the 2015 builds starting?

Thx to everyone else that responded too! This is a great forum.

Just to let you know the Residual Value is lower on the SEL model so it is more monthly. Yeah the SEL is nice, push start is great and power seats but honestly saving 2,000 by getting an SE was pretty good. I thought I'd miss push to start, power seats but I don't bc the cloth seats are so comfortable that I don't miss it.

Now our situation was different as we leased and didn't buy so we didn't have access to the rebates if you buy. Plus the rebate we did have got eaten up with payments we had left on our Escape. I am not sure if when you buy if the rebates the dealer has only lowers your payment by $17 bucks or not. My wife mostly drives our C-max but when I drive it, i love it. Sure ir doesn't have the sony HD radio but I can live without.

  3. We didn't want leather either -- we have leather in our Durango and in the summer here (and me in my tennis gear) it's not very nice at all.

But we located an SE with all that we wanted *except* for the backup camera (it has the backup sensors and MFT and auto back gate, which is even more than we thought). I think that's the 202a package but folks here will know for sure. Actually, our dealer located it for us -- just let them know what you want and they will move

heaven and earth to find it at their network of dealers that all help each other out.

Eventually I may add a backup camera but I'm not really missing it right now. And I do love the cloth seats after I come off the courts (we hadn't had cloth seats in a car for 14 years and I forgot how nice they are).

The backup cam is 595.00 , the ford one . Whata nice about it is that it is intergrated right in your mft system. We might get one as well.

  4. Everyone should own a battery charger. Especially C-Max owners. http://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SSC-1500A-CA-SpeedCharge-Charger-Battery/dp/B000H961YI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1406485546&sr=8-1&keywords=1500+ship+n+shore+charger

You'll never suffer this problem again if you use it to maintain your battery every 3 to 6 months.

I use it on my non hybrid vehicles every 6 months. My wire's original car battery lasted 8 years to the month

by being serviced on a regular basis. The C-Max is no different, IMO. It's a small battery and requires more

frequent charging due to the issue's Ford hasn't been able to correct. Just use it and you'll be very happy.

So is this for the Energy or Hybrid? I have a 2014 model, should I be worried?

  5. We will pay $14,328 in lease payments over the course of 3 years. Our lease buyout is somewhere in the the 14,000 range. Figure even if we go 6 more years and buy it our payment should be cheaper and we can put money towards it and pay it off faster than 6 years. The wife wants to eventually buy one of our leased cars. Yeah it is nice to have new cars every 2-3 years but would be nice to only have one car payment.

  6. The wife and I like our C-max so much that we are highly considering buying it either during or after the lease. Has anyone here gone through the buying process after a lease? We have 2 leases and like the cars but we've got to the point where we only want to eventually have one payment.

A used car salesman at our dealership said that you go see them to buy the car.

  7. We got an SE but with the winter package and MFT. The SEL was super nice but out of our budget. Sadly that is the game some dealerships play. They advertise a low lease price and that is if you have the A plan. Once you are there they figure you don't want to go some where else so you end up buying from them.

  8. Your pics were taken under the ideal conditions to show the car as BLUE... which it's not.

I'll wager you were facing East shortly before sunset. The tree (and presumably your house behind you) shades the car from any direct, full-spectrum light, so it's mostly blue skylight illuminating the car, and lo and behold, it's blue! I trust you bought it during the day, so you know that Ice Storm is green, but a pale, metameric green with a cameleon-like appearance, that also doesn't show dirt like some colors. Enjoy!

    Have fun,

    Frank

I've noticed the Green and blue. Saw the color online and hated it but when I saw it in person it was much better. Wanted a Blue Candy color but dealer did not have any in stock. Picture was taken at my parents house near sunset.

  9. You could be in the EV mode for a long time, if the car is going downhill. You get out of EV mode if A) you accelerate to the point where the computer determines running on the gas engine is better or b)the high voltage battery dips to the point where recharging is needed--again the gas engine kicks in. Basically you'll be going back and forth between gas and EV with EV being about 65% of the journey (in my experience).

Didn't the dealership go over this stuff with you?

Nope, the dealership we go to does not have too many C-max's on hand and my salesman did not know that much about the C-max. He mostly sells Fusions and Escapes.

  10.

So Here's my Experience with our 2014 C-max Hybrid so far, We LOVE IT! I drove it a few times already when my wife was sleeping to run errands and while I did go on the highway I noticed when I put it into Eco-Cruse it was in EV mode and the battery had a down arrow on it. Then I noticed when I had to speed up to accelerate the arrow was point up above the battery.  So when I got to the City driving the only way I can keep it in EV mode is if I give it the gas then let off the gas. As soon as I keep it steady without Eco-Cruise on then EV mode will go off.  So with that being said my questions are:

What happens if the battery depletes all the way? will it kick to gas mode only until energy is built back up?

I noticed when I brake at intersections or getting off the Expressway it will regenerate energy. Sometimes it says 100% energy restored even though the battery level isn't full? What does that mean? Other times I get 88% energy restored.

What are the best ways to keep it in EV mode? Is keeping it in EV mode a good thing or bad thing?

Does the C-max not enter EV mode if the car is above 65 MPH or did Ford Fix that in a software update recently?

Any driving tips to maximize fuel Economy in the City and Highway?

The reason why I ask all these questions is my dealer only had 7 C-max's in stock at the time we got ours and Our Salesman didn't know too much about Hybrid's but was very interested in learning more about them. I understand why he didn't know because he has to learn about 18 other Ford Models and their different configurations. He did give me a huge package of info to read for the C-max which we will get to but now that I found this forum a few months ago it's been very helpful with everyone giving tips to get the most out of the C-max.
