  1. It is nice to think that there is a way to take the Energi on a major expedition like a camping trip with four people and gear.
  2. And fhat is saying a lot Valkraider. You, Jus, and Laurel were among their best spokesmen (persons) a year ago. The engineers are able to come up with something good but it isn't complete and the dealer network doesn't have the tools to support it fully. Add that most salesmen have no clue or interest in hybrids and you end up underselling and undersupporting a great product with real potential.
  3. I guess that answers the question. It looks nice it is more than strong enough to get the job done. I was on rhe Tesla site the other day and you can't put a rack with the solid roof. Tesla requires the pano roof. I am guessing that the steel is better reinforced in that configuration.
  4. I like my dealer, but not enough to go any more than I absolutely have to. Besides, I drive in EV most of the time so I wasn't too worried.
  5. The message is that the C-Max is still a great car and it got you home safely. Also, I drove for a couple of months with the fuel filler/CEL until I had other reason to bring the car in and there was no problem.
  6. I leave the USB card inthe drive for music and that doesn't seem to be a problem, but it appears that the Energi tops off the 12 V battery after charging the traction battery so I might not be a valid data point for the Hybrid owners. Unfortunately, some Energi owners have also had some problems despite the regular charge, but nothing like reported here.
  7. It is standard on the Energi and works really well (if you like that sort of thing). Just saying.
  8. I am glad to hear that. There is such a thing as too much.
  9. My Energi has been reliable and first year maintenance consisted of rotating the tires for around $30, free oil change (before required, but I didn't want to lose the free part), and state inspection. This was two services and included a variety of updates and recalls (not unexpected on a new model) and a loaner car. Insurance is not much higher than my two old ('00 and '02) cars and like my Prius, I expect maintenance to be low because the ICE runs much cleaner than on a regular car and does not run all the time. Even though the engine stops and starts a lot, it the electric motors bring it up to full speed before feeding fuel, so it runs clean and doesn't foul the oil like a regular car. And don't forget the brakes. With regenerative braking, they don't really wear out. I replaced the brakes on the Prius at 80k because i (mistakenly) thought it was time. That car now has over 210k on that set of brakes. By the way, look at any car and you will see the front wheels black from brake dust. The wheels on the C-Max and Prius are always clean even if I didn't get around to washing them this year. There are recurring problems that you willread about in the forums- and these are not pretty for those affected- but they do not occur/recur in most of the cars and most of the owners are happy. The C-Max is a safe bet., especially if you order one, rather than taking it off the lot, where it may have sat with a discharged 12v battery for many weeks.
  10. The ads fund the site but they can go too far. Ghostery is helpful when they do. I have it on my tablets but I just use the mobile version on those and don't see the ads.
  11. No big deal. Galpin will hook you up. I heard they are good.
  12. It's almost tempting. No more games to play at renewal time to get the real price. They have some good (and some really bad) content, but something for everybody. I stopped mine when the trial ended so I couls enjoy the other options. What I found was that every other way to listen to music, except mayme AM, sounds way better than Sirius. That was a surprise. I also found that Sirius works half of the time anyway to try to lure you back. I can hold off for a while.
  13. I wonder if that would be safe to use with the Panoramic roof. Did Thule say anything in the instructions (or Ford for that matter)?
  14. Hi Valkraider, Nice pics. NRGs are still quite rare in NY. I have still only seen 2 besides mine.
  15. You have to scarifice enough for a car. It had better be what you want. I have grown quite fond of some options that I never would have ordered if they didn't come with a car I could get off the lot. Some previous ones were power locks, power windows, climate control, and cruise control are all on my mandatory list now. The C-max added Go-times (an advanced electric only form of remote start available on the Energi), pano roof, built in GPS (even though a portable is cheaper and better in many respects), and telematics.
  16. I watched some of the videos and the stuff looks really cool. It is nice to be able to make a change and then undo it if you get tired of it.
  17. I went through the same thing (a long time ago) when I wanted cruise control in my Plymouth Horizon and the only way to get it at the time was an aftermarkef system that kind of worked but not really. I ended up getting my money back and I loved the car anyway. I have been burned too many times omotherly dealer installed items and now I just say no. I hope that you get exactly what you contracted for but remote start is a feature that you can live without if you need to get your money back. I just hope the dealer doesn't waste too much of your time in the process. Besides, think of the gas you save without remote start.
  18. Something sounds wrong.I could see replacing the oil filter at that interval if the oil life monitor says so,but the air filter should be double the miles unless you live in a very dusty place.
  19. It must be the DRLs that is killing your mileage and yet I am pissed that they weren't even an option here.
  20. Interesting behavior. I only drove a Honda hybrid once and didn't have much chance to play with it. It was an early Accord hybrid and it was more about power than economy. My impression of Honda hybrids is that their systems achieved through finessing and fine tuning what Toyota did through high technology. Except that Toyota has a high degree of finesse as well and Honda couldn't achieve the same high mileage AND low emissions. Even the C-Max is behind Toyota in that repect but it is because Ford also prioritized the driving properties and "feel" of the car.
  21. I am not sure it is a good idea to overspray onto the tire because the solvents in the PlastiDip could potentially harm the rubber. It would be superficial, if at all,, but can you take that chance? PlastiDip is commonly used on wheels. Their directions should give guidance on this.
  22. Nice workmanship. Have a great trip and get home safe, but have lots of fun.
  23. Thanks. A lot of people on the Energi forum have been experiencing this feature of late. Interestingly enough, I don't recall mention of it last year. It must be weather related.
  24. I ordered my Prius in June '01 and got in February. It was worth the wait, but I didn't want to wait for my C--Max so I grabbed the first Energi that met my specs. That was a far nicer experience.
