This is interesting. First of all, I don't have that button. But I DO have the big screen. So I called Ford yesterday. Spoke to two people. The first lady told me how to activate SYNC, since I hadn't done that for the year I've had the car. The dealer where we bought it had no clue when we picked it up how to operate everything. Sigh. Anyway, I am now activated. So I asked about the Ford touch and she said I had it, that was the ability to have the "touch" screen. I then went out and searched around more for the icon, but couldn't find it, so called Ford again. Got a different person and told him the story of the missing icon/button. He had no clue about it. I told him about Ford Sync and how I just got it activated. Then he asked about Ford touch and I told him what the earlier representative told me and that I had it. He laughed out loud! "No, that's not Ford Touch," he said, and proceeded to tell me about it. Apparently I don't have it. BUT, my window sticker says under the functional column: SYNC W/ MYFORD TOUCH. All of this help from Ford has me confused! I'll be going back to the dealer next week because of the very weak mpgs now, so I'll talk to them about this also. I have a feeling I'll learn more here than from them!! Sharon

Bruce, I do not have that graphic. What am I missing?

Thanks. They SYNC display was mentioned on a very long, active thread about being the guinea pig of the updates/recalls. Somewhere near the end of the thread. Just too long to read all of it, although I am sure there's a lot of good info in there. Actually, I've never found a diagram that shows the flow of gas energy and elec energy. Or are you talking about the ones on Engage, etc.?

I just cannot sit here and read all of these threads pertaining to the upgrades. There are so many, and most of the replies are over my head. So I will just ask my questions, although they probably have been asked. Just please be patient with me. I took my C-max in for all of the recalls and updates. I did notice that my headliner looks kind of bad: no finished edge at all. Are there any others out there getting anything done about this? I read something about a SYNC update now producing a "status" display. How do you get to that? I've looked everywhere. Can't find it. This one is really stupid: I know that ICE means the gas engine, but what does it stand for? I will say, I'm not initially happy at all with my car's visit to the dealer. I should have been at 46 mpg, at least, after filling up in town and driving home. I barely made 40. Normally after filling up, it literally stays at 999 mpgs all through the parking lot, quickly falling into the 80's, 60's, 50's, then upper 40's. I average 45 mpgs per tank. Thanks for all of your help. Just remember that I am a Grammie to two great grandkids, and I speak very little mechanical car hybrid lingo. :)

I just got mine out back from the dealer. They did all of the upgrades, recalls, whatever, and rotated my tires. I had less than half a tank with really bad mileage going, so that tank just didn't do well. But I filled up today. First fill up after upgrades and recalls. I barely got 40 mpg average on the way home. I should be at least 46! I have kept every fill up receipt with mileage written down, so if this doesn't straighten out SOON, I will be back at Ford. Not happy. And, and, YES, Brazen, my air temp is not as cold. Although I've noticed this for a couple of weeks. We rented a Dodge Charger for a week (and it sure was FUN) and the air in there would freeze your, um, legs off. Frustrated today.

Air flow from vents won't go where I want it
osiebosie replied to osiebosie's topic in Climate Control
Yeah, they are all on. And I don't care for the one at the lap either. It would be better if it would move. -
Does anyone have trouble with the air flow from the vents hitting your face? I am five feet tall, and for some reason, I just cannot get the vents blowing on my face. And when it gets really, really hot (it's pretty hot now), that ain't gonna be good. :( This is the first car I've ever owned that I cannot get the air flow directly where I want it.

DH and I have discussed this at length, and I've a post somewhere on this forum way back on this subject. He thinks it's because of when the car is sitting still at a light or whatever. A normal car would be still burning fuel, but the cmax doesn't. So perhaps that explains the discrepancy on calculated fuel usage and the car's computer's fuel usage. The cmax knows no fuel is being used while sitting still. The old-fashioned way of figuring mileage, and I do it that way religiously and keep up with it, shows fuel is being used while sitting still. ??? It is a theory.

I haven't found one, neither has the dealer (a note on my local dealer: they seem somewhat clueless about the c-max.). But on another post about oil changes, someone mentioned the monitor. In the past decade, I haven't owned a vehicle that doesn't have an oil life monitor. The dealer said that an icon would pop up on the dash when it was time to change the oil. ?? I am over 8,000 miles now. No icon yet. I guess I'll wait until 10,000 miles unless someone here knows if there is a monitor and can tell me where it is. Thanks for your help.

I lost over 3 MPGs just in my driveway yesterday...
osiebosie replied to osiebosie's topic in Fuel Mileage
An ice scraper would have no effect on what we had yesterday. We just had freezing rain all day long. I'm surprised we still have power; the trees must be falling the right direction. :) And, no, this is not normal weather for TN. Sharon -

Hmmm. I didn't leave the heat (actually defrost) off until the engine warmed because my whole point was to melt the thick layer of ice covering the car. Plus, it kept me from walking on my also-covered-in-ice front porch any more than needed. But for future reference, it would save mpgs if the engine is warmed before turning on heat or defrost? Normally I just jump in the car and shiver and go, during the cold weather, that is. That's what the manual says: no need to warm up the vehicle. Also, what do you mean "foamed the grill openings"? And with what? My husband is addicted to stuff like that: foam and caulk. Fixes everything. And masking tape. -
Body Side Moldings And Tinted Glass

Thanks! I just spoke with an installer in Nashville. My quote is about $400 plus tax. That includes the back window. Should I drive to Atlanta? Sharon -
At first I thought my wipers were broken. I kept trying to put them on intermittent. They were sporadically working. Once I couldn't even get them to work at all. Thank goodness I have had, in the past, a vehicle with automatic wipers. One day something jogged my memory about the automatic wipers I'd had before, and I started playing with my "intermittent" knob during rain. I realized I have automatic wipers! I whipped out my well-worn owners manual and started reading (of course, not while driving). It didn't tell me much more other than, if equipped , to just turn them on. So I then whipped out my window sticker and read it from top to bottom. No mention of automatic wipers at all! So how about that??!! I have something I didn't know I had. Do you? Sharon

Body Side Moldings And Tinted Glass

Hello, Atlanta. I am just north of you in Nashville, technically Thompson's Station, 30 miles south of Nashville. Anyway, I was wondering about aftermarket tinting. Since it sounds like you've done it before, does it hold up well? I've seen so many cars with horrible looking tinting, and I don't want that. But I would like to tint my windows. Sharon -
...melting the doggone ice off of my windows to go to town. And I was doing so well after my last fillup, averaging over 48, which is great for me living in the hills and country in middle Tennessee (but the weather was unusually warm for January). Anyway, this awesome cold front dumped freezing rain all over us and poor Maxie got frozen to the ground. This was not frost, it was thick ice. I HAD to defrost and warm up the car. When I went out to get in and leave, my mpgs had dropped from over 48 to 45. And it got worse as I drove into town (a twelve mile trip). I had to have some heat and since my butt was cold, I had to heat my seat. :( But I was toasty warm as my mpgs dropped down to 44. I think I'm at about 42 now. Still cannot complain, though. Sharon

Okay, so I am not the only one noticing that. Good. However, I fill up at the same gas station usually, never top off, it's very level. The variable would be weather and filling up other places when traveling. But it's always a couple mpgs different. So no one thinks it has anything to do with idling on EV at stops? Thanks everyone.

I'm seeing a consistant 2-3 mileage difference in the mileage shown on the car at fill-ups vs. figuring it out on my calculator. The difference is to the car's advantage. DH and I have discussed this often. He says it's because when we are stopped at a light, we are using NO fuel, vs. a normal car, using fuel but driving zero miles. I don't know. Is he right? Thanks.

Ummm, ...weight?? I'm not keying mine in.

Thanks, but it was turning itself on and off. Happened a couple of times now, and we DID NOT adjust any settings. It just happened. Anyway, drove to the dealer yesterday since I had a couple of questions, and asked about that. He just looked me like I was stupid, how did you not know that you did that on your settings?? I told him we DIDN'T adjust the settings, it just happened. And that was that. He didn't offer any explanations other than the obviously you are stupid look and don't know what you're doing. We've had other wierd things happen in the computer system. He really didn't offer any help at all. Bummer.

Let me say I'm new here and did not see another place to post this question, since the battery charging symbol is not in the infotainment section of the car. But I couldn't see where else to post it. We've had this car for 4,000 plus brand new miles, and the other day, for the first time ever, an arrow-ish symbol appeared over the battery charging symbol when it was charging, and then under the battery when using battery. Now that arrow is gone again. I read the book and all I learned is that over the battery means it's charging and under means it's using. Duh. But the book didn't say why I don't have the arrow at all times. Anyone know the answer? I haven't checked with the dealer yet. Thanks, Sharon
