  1. It really seems that the SE's are a big problem and the SEL's for whatever reason don't have an issue or don't have many issues. I'm not bashing Ford here, but that is part of my concern. The quality just doesn't seem to be there with SOME of these vehicles.
  2. I just want everyone to know that we are very interested in the C-Max. We are being careful because we are just now finalizing a lemon law buyback of our Escape. I asked about the battery problems because I couldnt get a very clear picture based on the big thread. It seems a lot of the owners didn't say what year or model C-Max they had.
  3. Just curious, what would you buy then?
  4. Does this mean something like driving in the rain can then lead to battery issues?
  5. What are you implying here? That those with MFT don't have the battery problems? Or do have the battery problems?
  6. Thanks. That certainly doesn't look good
  7. Have the 2014 models (any of them) had the same battery problems that the 2013 models had?
  8. Do you think this is why you are seeing such great deals nationwide on the C-Max? I've seen several dealerships that are close to 20% off of MSRP with the current incentives. I was in my local dealership last night and one of the salesman flat out told me that these aren't selling and this was while we were talking about our interest in them.
  9. It's running in the 18-20% range off MSRP with the dealer discount and the incentives that a majority of people would qualify for. Assuming we decide this is what we want and assuming they can find what we want, that will be my ballpark for my offer.
  10. Thanks. They are including all incentives, but still a good amount off of MSRP with the incentives most people would qualify for. Right about 20% off.
  11. That's a great price and more in line with what I'm HOPING I can get. I haven't had to negotiate a car in a while though so I'm not sure how realistic that number is, but I don't mind driving to save that much $. I know Toyota in my area is currently running close to 20% off of MSRP on some of the Prius models and I've been quoted as such. We went back to the dealership last night so my wife could take a test drive and the salesperson flat out told us that these aren't selling very well. That doesn't seem like a good leverage play from their standpoint. I guess we shall see what happens. I don't see the that vehicle on the website. It must have sold or the price was changed.
  12. What's the name of your local dealer? I'd like to take a look at the website.
  13. 2014 SEL with no options and no trade in and no upgraded paint. I'm also looking for people who are buying, have bought, or or have at least entertained offers recently.
  14. I didn't see a thread on here (I could have completely missed it or maybe it's against the rules) on what people have paid for their C-Max. For someone looking to buy now or soon, what percentage or dollar value off of MSRP (or invoice) should you expect to be able to negotiate? For example, when we were looking at the Mazda CX-5, those people getting the better deals were averaging about $2,500 off of MSRP including the dealer fees, but not including any available incentives. This is before tax, tag, etc... I saw one dealer in the state of Florida who is advertising $24,700 + tax/tag for a 2014 SEL without any additional options. This included the $2,500 in available incentives. That doesn't seem like a very good deal to me. It's only about $800 off of MSRP.
  15. Does anyone know if the tax credit is still available for the C-Max Energi?
  16. That's fantastic. What tip did you give your relative?
  17. I've never looked at it from that perspective (and it's definitely a valid one), however, my wife likes how she sits in an SUV and the C-Max gives you that feeling. We had a VW Sportwagen earlier this year as a rental and I don't think she would like how she sits in it. She also doesn't like driving a car and we do like the cargo space that an SUV or C-Max provides.
  18. I guess it all depends on the official determination of highway versus city. She drives about 55 miles a day . I would say that 32-33 of those miles are driven at 55 MPH or less and traffic can be hit or miss. She is also a very defensive driver. The remainder of the miles are driven at 70-75 mph. If we are going on a longer trip out of town then I will most likely be driving and will most likely be going 75-80 on the highway. Part of my reason for asking is that I'm concerned that if we don't actually get the mileage it states and end up in the low 30 range, how much $$$ are we really saving when you factor in future repair costs (battery, etc). We get about 27 with her current Escape and some of the other options we were looking at (Mazda CX-5 for example) are getting even better mileage. It sounds like some of those concerns should be alleviated based on the responses I have gotten so far.
  19. This is all very helpful. The vehicle would be for my wife mostly who during the week is probably driving a 60/40-70/30 Highway/City. Top speeds around 70 mph. We do live in Florida though so we are going to have the hot sun/high AC usage during the summer months.
  20. Good Morning. My wife and I are looking into the 2014 Ford C-Max SEL and were wondering the actual mileage people are getting who drive mostly highway miles. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
