  1. I also own a Ford Escape Hybrid, 2007. Putting it in L causes an increase in regen braking when slowing, and BTW quickly shuts off the ICE below 40 mph (the limit on EV in this vehicle), thus charging the HV battery more--I use it all the time in that vehicle when coming to a stop. I tried to use my '07 Escape driving technique of using L when I first got the CMAX SEL, but I quickly figured out something was different when the CMAX ICE engine rev'd real high each time. I'm told that later models of the Ford Escape Hybrid act more like the CMAX non-energi, eliminating this increase in regen braking whie slowing down, instead engaging engine braking.
  2. The TSB for the liftgate is discussed here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1917-tsb-13-5-6-2013-c-max-hands-free-liftgate/ I need to take mine in to get this done. The check engine light for P0456 is discussed here: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/491-check-engine-light/page-3 See my post #60 on page 3 and #67 on page 4. Also see posts by Darrelld #74. They will replace your purge valve.
  3. It is such a pain to get to those fuses anyway (contort body in foot area of passenger seat, pull back carpet, etc) that while you are there, you might as well try all three. It could be different issues causing the system to lock up, which is why 69/79 worked for him, but 67/79 worked for me. I don't know. I did not run my car with ICE when I had to pull the fuses.
  4. The MFT menu's master reset will likely not work since the screen is frozen. You can download a delayed reboot application here, but that likely won't work either for you now that it is frozen. If it does work, it will not erase your presets or your phone. I use it as preventative medicine every week or so. http://outofmytouch.com/reboot.html You are likely stuck with either disconnecting the 12V battery from underneath the hidden console in the back of the vehicle (12v battery is NOT under the hood ;), so this is not simple either) or you can contort your body and look in the passenger front seat foot area up under the dash, pull back some carpet and get to the fuse panel, and pull fuse 67, but you will need small pliers or a fuse puller, as it is nearly impossible to get your fingers in there (in the book it is labeled as Energi cell passport, but this is the one to pull). Or, you can go to the dealer. It is not easy to do any of these, that is why I use the delayed reboot app periodically to (hopefully) prevent issues.
  5. Mine does the same thing. A bit annoying, but I've gotten used to it.
  6. I'm glad to hear that. I appreciate you posting this info earlier in this thread. Based on your experience and my identical P0456 code, I knew I too needed a new purge valve. My dealership installed one with a model number ending in B, whereas your's used one ending in D. I suspect you have a new part, and mine was "fixed" (for now) with an older part, so I suspect my problem will resurface in due time. Tijme will tell.
  7. I wish you luck, but I see issues in your future: The hide a key/small metal key works fine, except the alarm will go off after about 15 seconds if you don't immediately have the fob available to start the car. The keyless alarm pad will NOT work on the SEL, unfortunately. I have those on my other Fords, very handy, but not available for SEL CMAX. Your dealer may have a new fob on hand and will certainly be able to program it. However, it is more likely they may have to order one--it took my dealer a week to get a spare one on hand (I just wanted a third one). It will cost you about $140 for the keyfob with your personal precut key. It will cost an additional $90 to program the FOB. Then, once you get your original fobs out of the car, they'll have to reprogram those as well, maybe at an additional cost? They will be able to look up your hide a key/small metal key "cutting code" by your VIN, and order you one of those for a lesser amount of money, but that will definitely take a week to get in. Read my posts here for more info that I learned: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/index.php?/topic/803-adding-a-third-intelligent-access-key-dealer-reprogramming/
  8. Sorry, I haven't been on here lately because I am not at home. So far it has, but I also think it is too early to tell, I've only driven it a couple of times since, and not for very many miles, since the fix was performed
  9. Mine built back in Oct 12, and I have the prior version MFT 3.1.3.
  10. Mine have been fine for 4+ months since I got the vehicle. Of course, now that I say that, they'll screw up......
  11. I had the CMax in for the check engine light and asked them to investigate the occasional two kick issue on the liftgate. They researched it and responded to my complaint with "found engineering is working on a fix to address this issue, and in the meantime they are suggesting to use the key fob". So, hopefully Ford is working on a fix to this issue. It doesn't bother me THAT much, but it would be nice for it to work (perfectly) as designed.
  12. The "problem" with looking for drips under our CMaxs is that the underside of the engine is completely covered by a panel for aerodynamic reasons. Thus, I suspect an oil or antifreeze leak that is just a few drips every so often is going to go unnoticed, as the panel will hide the drips for quite some time.
  13. Mine came on again, as I suspected it would. The first time I reset it with my OBDII reader, and it had a P0456 (small evap leak) code. It happened again this past Weds, same check engine MIL and P0456 code, so I took it in on Thur and they replaced the purge valve in one day, and I have it back already. They used a purge valve with a model number ending in B, but there might be some evidence in this thread that a new version, rev D, exists. We'll see if mine comes back.
  14. Just used the funnel, located in the hidden area under the hatch in the rear cargo compartment, and pushed it in the fuel inlet and then removed it, simulating a fuel nozzle insert/remove. Probably a better word would have been "reseated". Sorry for any confusion.
  15. Today I too got the Check Engine Light MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light). I have an OBD-II reader, and it read P0456 Evap System Leak, very small. I see from Darrelld's receipt in his post above that the dealer read this same code from his issue as well, so I'll probably be taking it in when it returns. The MIL light could be from bad gas according to our owner's manual, so I refilled it today at a different station (although the fuel in the car was from Exxon, and today's refill was from Shell, both pretty good gas, I think). This specific P0456 code could also be caused by a bad/improperly installed gas cap, according to the internet, so I also reset the capless gas flap with the funnel. I then used my code reader to clear the code, and of course it went away. If it stays away long term, great. If it returns, I'll be in for the fix that darrelld got, I guess. I have 3K miles on it, owned it since Thanksgiving. PS: I got the "check fuel filler inlet" a week or so after I got the car, and it went away on its own back then when I reset the capless flap.
  16. As valkraider said, when we are eligible to upgrade to 3.5.1., which should be soon (this month???), you will first request a A4 card be sent to you via FEDEX on syncmyride.com and then you download 3.5.1. from the same website onto a USB flash drive, then intall them. All other MFT Fords already are eligible for the upgrade, but those of us with hybrids/battery vehicles (Fusion, CMax, Energi, etc) that are not very recent builds (within the last month or so) are not eligible to upgrade yet. Again, it should be very soon.
  17. Mine were there and I also ended up ordering a third FOB/precut key as a spare. By the way, your precut keycode was on a small rectangular sticker in your pack of paperwork, that looks like a UPC code with a 5 digit number written on it. If you don't have that keycode, you have to have the dealer look it up on their system for your VIN and you must provide proof of ownership (ID and registration type thing, so they can make sure you are who you say you are).
  18. Additional confirmation that there is no update yet for MFT for the battery/electric vehicles (like CMax) comes from the community board on syncmyride.com. Yesterday, the moderator updated the response to the thread on the new 3.5.1 update that now says "Fusion Hybrid, C-MAX Hybrid, C-MAX Energi, and Focus Electric will be subject of a future announcement" [...of an update] : http://boards.synccommunity.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=2&nav=messages&webtag=fordsyncmb&tid=6366
  19. Yep, sometimes the street name is there, sometimes it isn't, even on the same roads driven on a different day. I haven't been able to figure out why. Who knows....
  20. I experience the same as your 1-3 as well, basically. Unfortunately, I am not sure anyone has figured out the cause, but probably one of the ones you list. Who knows.
  21. 3.5.1. has been out for those non hybrids without navigation system for about 2 months now. For those non hybrids with nav, the dealerships have had enough Nav cards for the last couple of weeks. Ford definitely has the SD cards available for non hybrids now with version 3.5.1, as the website below was updated in the last day or two and you can request a Nav card through the syncmyride and it will be sent via the mail now. http://support.ford.com/ However, when I log into my CMAX syncmyride webpage, there is no update for my CMAX yet. We should all have 3.1.3, I believe, and it is for the BEV (battery electric vehicles), and I think they have to give us a specific update. See other post in this section about 3.1.3 being the latest version.
  22. Mirrors are heated ONLY when the rear window heat is on. From the manual, see my underline in the last sentence. Also, see the note about cleaning the mirrors (yes, they can get a little spotty, I think so anyway). HEATED WINDOWS AND MIRRORS (IF EQUIPPED) Heated Rear Window Note: The vehicle must be running to use this feature. Press the control to clear the rear window of thin ice and fog. Press the control again within 15 minutes to switch it off. It turns off automatically after approximately 15 minutes, or when you switch the ignition off. Do not use razor blades or other sharp objects to clean the inside of the rear window or to remove decals from the inside of the rear window. This may cause damage to the heated grid lines and will not be covered by your warranty. Heated Exterior Mirror (If Equipped) Note: Do not remove ice from the mirrors with a scraper or attempt to readjust the mirror glass if it is frozen in place. These actions could cause damage to the glass and mirrors. Note: Do not clean the housing or glass of any mirror with harsh abrasives, fuel or other petroleum-based cleaning products. Both mirrors are heated to remove ice, mist and fog when the rear window defroster is activated.
  23. Headlights: Do you have the "auto light rain" turned ON in the Settings/Vehicle/Lighting display (see approx page 122 in owners manual)? Windows: As stated above, did you press and hold the unlock button on the keyfob?
