  1. I had 2 good trips the other day. A 6.9 miler coming in at 66.1 and later a 2 miler at 85. I snagged a better picture of the 66 mpg so posting this one. Only 99% brake efficiency. I like when I get 100% The picture looks great on my phone but not great on the post - any suggestions welcome. Thanks

  3. I just figured it out but poor quality picture 80.1 mpg!
  4. Great job! I also broke 80 on a short trip going over a railroad bridge and up 2 hills into our garage. I took a pix but can't figure out how to post. Maybe I need to be on my computer vs ipad. Gosh, I am over 500 miles for the tank, so have to start thinking of feeding Phantom. LOL as my old Escape would be ready for it's 3rd drink. Most of my driving is mixed highway and local short trips so haven't tried to hit the magic 600 yet. Looking for an opportunity for some back country driving down stream.
  5. I have not noticed any mpg changes and have several 50-75+ mpg trips. Averaging the same mpg for the tank of gas since instal. I suspect a slight drop with the bikes on the vehicle but don't have our rack yet Hubby is supposed to order but no activity so I will probably have to order.
  6. Bro and Arizona Thanks! I will show my husband Appreciated! A2
  7. Wow bro1999. - that is impressive! Do you have a picture of the hitch without the Thule box? I am most likely going to stick with the 1.25 but I still have some doubts Thanks
  8. Had a great day today- but keep forgetting to take pictures! 10 miler at 54 mpg and a 3.5 miler at 74+ mpg and 100% brake efficiency! Not bad for a rookie!
  9. No pictures yet but 2014 Platinum White C-Max Ann Arbor MI
  10. We just mounted the EcoHitch 1.25 (it was supposed to be the 2.0 receiver but they sent us the 1.25 by accident and decided the smaller size will be better) I was also concerned about the ground clearance. We have a Yakima rack currently but it is a 2 inch - we could use on the Flex but planning to purchase the 1UP USA rack. I think it is perfect for the C-Max. The small profile will be so much better than the massive Yakima and the weight and ease of taking it on and off will be an advantage as I won't have to leave it on all of the time. We are waiting to order the rack just purchased the CMax and plan to purchase the Flex on Monday.
  11. We just returned from a 300 mile trip an achieved 45.1 mpg averaging 70 mph. OK - I am sure we had a bit of a tailwind(although not that strong to notice when outside the vehicle) but it is hard not to achieve 40 mpg unless you have a lead foot. Into the headwind on the way out, we averaged around 43. My best so far is 48+ mpg on my first highway trip of 35 miles. I am hoping for a 50+ mpg trip (other than the obvious short trips with outrageous mileage) and a 600+ tank. I generally fill it up when it starts squawking as I don't want to run out of fuel.
  12. Thanks for the ideas. After surfing for a long time, I was able to find embedded documentation with an itty bitty number 1/2 next to it. Says it won't work if you have push button start. Wish the dealer knew this information as it would have saved me hours of hunting. Also, the accessory website needs to have this information included in easy to read text (it is not even on the accessory page) I hope Mark Fields reads the forum or has someone scanning. I do consider this a safety issue for the CMax that could be easily fixed. if you lose your key while swimming, running, xc skiing etc and can't get back in the car - you can become hypothermic quite easily. Let's hope Ford figures out a way to make this an option. Adrian has lost his while running. I rescued a pair of cross country skiers who lost their key and it was very cold outside. Unless you are active, you don't realize how important this feature is on a car. I seriously might have considered a different vehicle if I had known that it was incompatible, although I love my CMax other than this issue (and no panic alarm - see other post from another CMax owner) Thanks for listening to my concerns.
  13. 2014 SEL 302 package about 1600 miles. I think it was an earlier 2014 production but purchased July 2014. Went away foe 3 weeks and my baby started right up. When DH(dear husband) or I drive it, average 43-48 mpg. DB(dear brother) has a punchy foot and managed only 37 mpg. We just let him drive and didn't try to teach him new tricks. Best trips 3000 miler 45.1 mpg 35 miler 48+. I was proud of this one as my very first highway trip! I think I had a tail wind to do this (not noticeable but sure it existed as only 43 on the return)
  14. I usually put my bike in the car. There are several hitches for the cmcx. We put on the ecohitch as no drilling and kick open is preserved, albeit trickier. You have to kick from an angle. The company accidentally sent the 1.25 inch receiver but we decided it would look nicer with the smaller receiver so are keeping it. The company was great. They offered to ship the 2 inch receiver version and pay for the labor to swap it out and return shipping spontaneously. Because of the error, Byron told me they changed some procedures to prevent this I the future. We plan to purchase the 1UP USA rack for it. Most of the time, we will keep it as a single mount but plan to purchase the add on for a second mount. The rack has stellar reviews. If you see a review with rust on the screw head, this is resolved. The screws are SS- a few years ago, some screws came through in steel but the company replaced any that were identified (one of my questions) The 1 UP is all metal and reminds me of an erector set. We wanted a trough rack or else might have considered the swing away rack. This will replace our current Yakima tank. We just purchased 2 cars, so rack is not first priority as season is winding down.
  15. Congrats! Had a pony at one point - fun in the summer but not so fun in the winter. You will love the range per tank of gas. I used to have to feed my Escape frequently. I couldn't even complete a 5 hour trip without a refill. Looking forward to 8-10 hour jaunts in my new cmax!
  16. Welcome! Our fleet of 2 vehicles is around 35-37 Love the mileage and fun to drive as well!
  17. I am not that tall but have to keep reminding myself that this is a car and not an SUV. I come back to reality even I see the chassis clearance. When I am driving, I feel like I am in a crossover and love not sinking to the ground when I get into the car.
  18. Has anyone tried using a heater block for the oil to see if that makes a difference?
  19. Thanks Fotomoto It is not looking good. Ford Customer Service says it won't work with the C-Max push button start despite what I was told by the dealer. It doesn't make sense as they have two different models - one for a key entry and one for keyless entry.... Guess, I go back to key on a hockey skate shoe string in a neon color.... so I don't lose it on the trails. I haven't totally given up and hope to figure it out downstream. A2gemini
  20. I had this om my escape. My escape also had the push button start but the keypad was factory installed. We are active and don't like to take the key fob when we bicycle XC ski or when I run. Using the keypad, you can lock the key fob inside the car by pressing the last 2 buttons. Use the 5 digit code to get into the car. Keys have a habit of defying gravity during aerobic sports. They crawl out of pockets, wiggle out of water packs, etc. i lost a key years ago running and had to rescue some very cold skiers in an isolated area who lost their key while skiing. So, I want this for safety reasons. I am hoping that someone on the forum has been successful. Otherwise, hopefully Ford customer service will come through. Thanks! A2gemini
  21. Great idea - Wish they had something similar with a wheel mount system. My husband won't let our bikes hang.
  22. Fazzman, Thanks - glad you are happy with the 1.25 receiver. Both my husband and I decided a 3 inch black thing on the back of the C-Max would look out of place, so I think we will stick with the 1.25 that is mounted and not swap it for the 2 inch receiver. My brother has the T2 and it is a really nice rack. Since we will have to buy a new rack as our Yakima is a 2 inch receiver, we are going to get the 1UP ASA and mount the single platform on it but purchase a second platform. 1UP is confident that we will be happy with the 1.25 receiver. It was just a shock to discover that the receiver was 1.25 when I was expecting the 2 inch. Have fun cycling! We just returned from a trip through the Canadian and US Rockies. Great trip but we did get wet!
  23. Yes, it is a new car. It is not as bad as it sounds - The dealer tried to program it and when they failed, they took the keypad back and are refunding my $$. They plan to keep looking and will contact me when they have the information and re-order the part. There is a lot of chatter on not being able to program these with the push button start - but the part is available. I am just hoping someone has the answer. I called Ford Customer Service and the representative tried to find directions and also could not find anything. He promises to find the answer and get back to me. i am confident that he will do so. In the meantime, I am hoping someone has been successful and can enlighten me. 24. Just a bit more information. We are concerned about ground clearance with the C-Max and a 2 inch hitch receiver. We are also somewhat concerned about a 3 inch blob sticking out the back end of the C-Max but want function over fashion. Anyone have any issues with ground clearance with a 2 inch hitch receiver? Thanks
  25. Thanks Nick aka C-MaxSea - great handle! I cross posted in racks and towing, so hopefully someone will respond. Loving my new C-Max. We actually didn't plan on buying a C-Max but took it for a test ride and the rest is history. My best performance so far is 48+ on a 40 mile trip. I hope to break 50 on a trip if the winds are cooperative! Thanks
