So, C-Max owners, after spending 3 or 4 months listening and making comments, I have finally bought the vehicle I want. It's not a CMax, it's not even a Ford product. So I'll be removing myself from here, but I have enjoyed the conversations of the various poster/owners, and you know who you are!

What about the Chevy Trax? One of the colors is orange and it looks like a pumpkin on steroids. Or........It's the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown! gas mileage is not TOO bad.......but when you're comparing to CMax, fuggitaboutit!

Reverse alarm in backup light?
BoomerGer replied to themacguy's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors & Wipers
Go to a truck parts place and find a back up alarm, or maybe a forklift service center and find same. I have a LOUD alarm that is switchable when I want to use it (Don't want to use it in my driveway in the early morning and wake the neighbors in the 'hood) and when I do use it, people hold their ears, give me dirty looks, and people in farther parts of the lot look around as if there is a dump truck backing up. Hey, I do not care if they give me ANY kind of looks. PLUS, I take it with me when I switch cars! -
Might one accept this as "official"? BFD = Battery Failure Diagnostic

Now let's see, where did I see this.......A spare tire carrier for a full size spare, in some thread. It was a hitch mounted spare tire carrier, slipped into a receiver and it had a hinge that folded back so you could get into the hatch. Going a step or two farther, one could get a soft cover for that tire, or for more secure reasons, a metal or fiberglass cover that fits and locks the spare onto the carrier. Taking it farther (as I might do), the hitch receiver would be ideal to use for the lightweight utility trailer that would be used only "sparingly" (pardon the pun...) when I need it for something too big/heavy/nasty to carry inside the car.

I guess if I DO get a spare tire, it's going to be a full size one, since that back has room enough for it (judging from previous posts of what people were sticking in that HUGMONGUS hatch back!)and room for a jack, too. The towing capacity is another story......
-
It says "...a space saver DUMMY spare tire". I get the drift.

Yeah! I'd like to see a 'Max with a full size spare AND the capability to tow a small utility trailer (please state the towing capacity in pounds USA, okay?) Enough of this pussy partial car equipment of no spare, etc!

Suitability for occasional towing
BoomerGer replied to mikeash's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Well now DCarley, how did that 'Max tow that rascal? Any hard pulling, overheating, braking problems? Any unstability, etc? -
You know, the big thing behind the seats that made this car so famous. Has anyone ever had THAT battery take a dump? When considering a 'Max at the place where I take it in for service, I asked my service director his opinion of how the hybrid batteries hold up. He stated he has never had to replace one except when one was involved in a wreck and it split open and had to be replaced that way. As for failing, he still has customers that that have over 200K on the Hybrid Escape and one that has almost 300K on it. But none that have "failed". This sounds encouraging, doesn't it??

YEAH! I finally found another picture that someone took of the switch control for the seat heaters, so thanks, I found it. The great thing about CARMAX is that they show detailed pictures of everything in the car and on the dash, so one practically knows the layout of everything before one even gets in a 'Max for the first time! :) :camera: :victory:

Looked at all the pictures, have yet to see where the switch for the seat heaters is. In my Escape hybrid, they were down between the bottom of the seat and the door jam, a rather odd and hard place to reach. I have seen other photos of seat heater switches on the dash of other cars, but not the 'Max. Anyone? TANKS!
-
Similiar thread here, I saw somewhere (and now cannot find it) that someone posted the cargo area in sq ft for the CMax and the Prius with the seats down and with the seats up. Seats up the Prius had more room than 'Max, but seats down, the 'Max had more room than Prius. What I want are those numbers! But I cannot find them! Anyone seen the same thing I have? Can you direct me to it or send me the link? Oh wait! I found it. but it was for the Soul, not the Prius! NOT considering a Soul. Never mind! TANKS!

Uh Mike, please excuse the off topic subject, but if you have a lot of homeless people up in sillycorn valley (I thought that was too expensive even for peeps with homes!) and you keep helping them out, perhaps if you DID NOT help them out and everyone kept NOT helping them out, then they would leave sillycorn valley because if you keep giving them money they have no reason to leave and expect you to keep financing their lives. Thank you for allowing me to rant, we now return you to the normal mode of discussions....

Towing electrical harness installation
BoomerGer replied to John Brock's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
John Brock - Have you towed this motorcycle trailer with the CMax? I am looking to tow an 800 plus pound utility trailer with easily rolling wheels (it's not like I am going to the local tractor pull contest to drag a 50,000 pound sled across dirt!) to take to the dump avery two months or so, or haul something too big and bulky for the inside (or outside). Was your trailer easily towable?- 9 replies
