  1. Good advice! Thx. Certainly about keeping on good terms with my dealer. We're headed there in a while so this advice was quite timely! And knowing me, quite apropos also! How do I search by VIN for what TSBs the dealer may already have done? I want to know that independently before I ask the dealer. I have the records of 2 of the 3 previous fix attempts (can't find one of them, although I suspect it's in our house somewhere).
  2. I've got a 2013 cmax with its 4th dead battery in less than a year! I'm apoplectic, and my local Ford dealer (who has the cmax again for his 4th attempt to fix the problem permanently) is well aware how mad I am! But I'm also trying to learn, and this board is very helpful. I've seen several msgs saying that buying my own battery charger and plugging it in at night might be one "fix". Certianly not the permanent fix I'm entitled to, but hey! If Ford can't solve the problem and this might, I'll think about it! My immediate problem now is: I'm not an auto techie at all! So when I googled on auto battery charger I got overwhelmed by the choices. Can someone please give me some advice on the kinds of things I should consider? Size, voltage, type, any particular manufacturers to avoid or use, etc? Thx.
  3. New member here. Just posted 1st msg yesterday, after our 2013 CMax battery failed AGAIN, for the 4th time in 11 months! It's back in the shop where, so far, all they've come up with is fiddling with reprogramming something or replacing the battery every time I have the problem! Anyone who thinks that's a permanent solution is nuts! I've read a lot of msgs here today about this pblm. It's some help to know I'm not alone. (But it's not a lot of help at all to read msgs from those of you lucky enough NOT to have the problem! At times, when I read some of those msgs, I think I hear a little nyahh nyahh nyahh in the background.) I am quite certain our problem is NOT operator error! We've gone over that enough that we are both certain we have not caused these failures by leaving something on, leaving a door ajar overnight, etc. But what does intrigue me is the msgs that seem to suggest Ford has come up with a permanent fix. They certainly should have, by now! If so, I don't know what it is. Can someone please help me out here? I'll be talking to our local dealer's service mgr and hopefully also upper mgmt today or tomorrow, and I'd like all the ammunition I can muster before I go into battle with them! Thx.
  4. Hi. I just joined this forum Nov. 9. Our 2013 has had 4 failures, so far, none of which have been "operator error"!!! It's back in our local dealer's shop now, for their 4th try to fix it! So far, the first three were within the first 12,000 miles. The 3rd try to fix it was in March, so this time, at least, their "fix" lasted till November. Each time, Ford has blamed it on some sort of programming error (that they didn't find each time they looked and didn't fix the same way or the correct way each of the first 3 attempts). In two of the first 3 tries, they said they swapped out the starter battery. As of yesterday morning, no help! I had to call roadside assistance AGAIN and have it towed back to the local dealer AGAIN! We are seriously pissed at Ford. SC has an automobile lemon law that might give us some relief, but since the 4th failure was >12,000 miles, even though the 3 tries to fix it were all <12,000, which is what the law requires, I don't have much hope we will be able to do much better than to rely on Ford's "good nature"! My real reason for this rant is to ask if anyone else who has had this much trouble with this particular problem has in fact gotten some substantial relief from the company, not just a local dealer/repair shop. Like, for instance, "We'll buy back your crappy cmax and give you a good deal on a new one, assuming you dare trust Ford to make the new one any better than we did the one we're buying back from you because it's a piece of ****"
