  1. Well I made it down to carolina beach yesterday. I got 303 miles on the first half of the tank.

Since I had my family with me I didn't put 50 psi in the tires or take the more eco friendly route. Took the PA Turnpike went through DC and than South on 95.

It is downhill most of the way but going 72mph hurts mpg. And used air con a little more than 1/2 the trip. When I had I think 123 miles left on the trip I chickened out and filled up. The red fuel light was on. The car took 12.6 gallons. I think the miles to E was around 23....When I make the video Next week I will have the actual numbers.

So I don't think I would have made it. If my family wasn't with me I would have taken a different route. Not used a/c and taken a gallon or 2 fuel jug with me in the car and just drove until I made it or ran out.

I will update with the video Next week. Take care

  2.      Starting tomorrow my family is going on vacation! The destination is 679 miles away.  I am going to do it on 1 tank of fuel.

I know it will be harder since the car will be loaded with the family but this is still going to be a fun challange.

Going from NE Ohio to Carolina Beach. We are going through DC and might stop to sight see there.  I will also make a video on it.  I have a small YouTube channel with mostly my Vibe GT video's on it but more C-Max ones coming up.

Here is the link to my channel  https://www.youtube.com/c/everydayCars

Wish Me luck I will try to Post updates in this thread along the way to the Beach.

    Have a Great Day

  3. My 2015 i can feel a little vibration when going from ev to gas especially when the gas engine isn't fully warmed up

and when taking off really slow.  But I don't expect it to be perfect.  And when on the freeway I was also

surprised by how much passing power the car has.  The torque from the electric motor really helps a lot.

  4. When I try to play it I get this:

    "This video is private"

Odd but it's ok the Dealer fixed it.  Turns out the control module needed reprogrammed for the door window switch.  And now it work....after they told me what they did

my wife was showing her mother the interior color changing lighting and put the headlights on and left them on for awhile.  So when she went to leave she had

to jump start the car.  I'm guessing that messed something up.  I probably could have disconnected the battery to reset everything and it might have fixed it.

  5. Not that I'm aware of but perhaps, some work was done on your car which required PMI (see below) which wasn't performed.

    "Noise Cancellation Microphones

Three headliner-mounted active noise control microphones (2 front and 1 rear) measure the amplitude and phase of the engine noise inside the passenger compartment. The monitored sound is converted into analog signals by the microphones, and sent to the DACMC . "The DACMC receives engine rotation speed data and active noise control microphone input signals and calculates the targeted frequency needed to cancel engine noise within the passenger compartment. The DACMC outputs the engine noise cancellation frequency to all audio system speakers as fluctuating AC voltage."

    "DACMC

The DACMC is a digital signal processor that consists of an internal analog/digital converter, amplifier, and tone generator....

The DACMC operates with the ignition in RUN, ACC, or OFF. Active noise control functions only operate with the ignition in RUN. The DACMC receives audio signals from the ACM when audio is being played.

    ...

The DACMC amplifies these signals and sends them to all of the audio system speakers as fluctuating AC voltage. If the engine is running and the audio system is in use, the DACMC mixes the engine noise cancellation frequency signal with the audio signals from the ACM . The mixed audio signals are then sent to all of the speakers as fluctuating AC voltage.

The DACMC requires Programmable Module Installation (PMI) when it is replaced."

Would it cancel out the noise the electric motors make.  Kinda sounds like a jet taking off in EV only mode?  If it is supposed to cancel that out then it definitely isn't working.

  6. Did a 140 mile round trip yesterday in 23 degree weather.  And well not quite as good as my TDI but close.

The trip computer said 37.4mpg on the trip their and 39.6mpg on the trip back. My TDI would have gotten 42mpg.

And this is with 2 adults and 2 kids so I am happy with it.  I can't wait to see the mileage when it gets warmer out.
I did notice the EV mode is useless when going 72mph.

All of this was mixed driving, 55 to 72 mph free way and aout 10 miles of back roads.  The total

EV miles was around 42 for the trip so not to bad.

I did notice it has great passing power but the gas engine is pretty noisy and when cold going slow the

gas engine is shaky like the rpms are to low which I thought it would be smoother.  When we test drove the car it

was in the 40's outside and it didn't do this.

    Anyways have a good weekend.

  7. I just picked up a 2015 and it's primarily my wife's car to replace the VW TDI we are giving back to VW.

When I drive it next time I will see if it goes into EV above 65mph.

But here is the thing if you are going downhill at 75mph with the engine on it still isn't using any fuel.  It shuts

off the injectors when coasting.  My 2003 Vibe GT even does this when coasting in gear.  I hooked up my scanner

yesterday and when coasting down hill in gear the short term fuel trim stays at 0%.  But if I go to neutral and

coast the short term fuel trim jumps around.

My TDI does the same thing.  So it really isn't a bad thing the ICE is running.

  8. Just purchased a 2015 cmax with 23k miles for 15k. Its a SEL with the glass roof power gate and nav. Anyways I was wondering what the top speed in EV is on the 15's. I noticed on Ford's site the 2017 hybrid it says 62mph. But I thought ford did a software update on the 2013 and upped the speed.

    Thanks

  9. That's what's nice in Arizona, coldest it might get is into the 20's but that's maybe a few days out of the year.

There's a couple of Used C-Max's around here for 21k with less then 20,000 miles on them.  Seems like a

good deal.  There was even just a 2013 that sold for 17995 with 40k miles on it.

    Thanks for all the info.

  10. Just wondering in the regular hybrid and it shows

700.7/477.4 EV using 13.46 gallons and 52.06 MPG

To me this would mean 477 miles were done in EV mode...which would mean NO GAS used.

Which means 223.3 miles were done on the engine and 477.4 EV.

So what exactly is the EV miles?

Just wondering I am looking into getting a C-Max, my commute is perfect for one. 38 mile round trip 5 stops at an average speed of 43mph.  Most 45 to 55mph and 2 25mph sections that are about 1 mile a piece.  All flat land.

I did a search and couldn't find anything.

    Thanks
