  1. Are they actually chains ? Most dollies have tire straps.

If they are chains the only places would be to the lower control arms or to the sub-frame.

Most sub-frames have tie-down holes that are used when shipping the vehicle.

IMO, the lower control arms would be the preferred location.

  2. FYI, I just had the transmission replaced under warranty (33k miles).  Took 6 weeks; 4 just to get a new (not rebuilt) transmission.  See TSB forum for more info.

What type of noise did it make. Did it make the noise all the time or only during acceleration and/or regeneration ? Thanks!

  3. I am afraid that I have to agree with Wendelina.  I bought the first CMax that the dealer sold.  We love this car.  However, the problems have  been many.  We have 55,000 KM which is about 31,000 miles.  The battery has been replace twice.  The catalytic converter has been replaced as well as a corroded wiring harness for the sensors around the car.  The clock stops for no reason.  The wave you foot to open the tail gate almost never works.  The drivers door handle sometimes unlocks the car.  The MyKey is off on one of the keys.  In the 25 months that we have had it the dealer has had it for 3 months.  I have been asking Ford to take back this lemon for well over a year.  We don't have a lemon law here.  I am about to go to arbitration to get them to buy it back.  We want a new CMax.  We don't want to part with it but don't want this one.  The dealer has been terrific with loaner cars etc.  It is in the dealer now and has been for a week.  We are forced to park it or we will go past the warrantee and arbitration can't force them to buy it back.  It has been a great car but the problems are tooooo much.

It they don't buy it back talk with your dealer about trading it.

  4. Interesting, that procedure was revised 1/24/2013.

The online version was revised 8/7/2013 and shows doing it all from below.

Maybe they decided it was cheaper not to have to remove the air filter and cowl panel and use a pump instead.

The manual has you remove the air filter housing and intake duct work to gain access to the gravity fill plug.

It's easier to skip this step and use a fluid pump to fill the trans from the leveling plug. It would be the same

as filling a standard transmission or rear differential. This trans has 3 plugs. Drain - Gravity Fill and Fluid Leveling Plug.

SSM 44606 - 2013-2014 C-MAX, Focus and 2014 Fiesta, Transit Connect - Several Radio Issues
Some 2013-2014 C-MAX, Focus and 2014 Fiesta, Transit Connect vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following concerns: AM/FM/Sirius radio display does not update when changing stations using presets or frequency selector, during CD operation the track info is blank and no information available, FM mode Autostore does not store stations in numerical order, and/or following a vehicle start-up the radio cannot be heard until the radio on/off is cycled, volume level is adjusted or the radio station is changed. To correct these conditions reprogram the Audio Control Module (ACM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 90.04 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. For warranty claiming use causal part 19C107, and use applicable 12651D labor operations in SLTS manual Section 10 for the vehicle.

Great info., Bill.   Thanks for sharing this info. :victory:

  6. My main concern with that would be when the tire gets hot you're over the safety limit put there by Michelin.

Welcome to the forum. We're a mellow bunch but some of us get cranky when we misplace our false teeth or walking sticks.

The higher the pressure, The lower the tire temperature.  The Tire Companies put a Maximium Safe Cold Tire Inflation Pressue on the sidewall of our tires which is 51PSI for our Michelin's.  You get great tire wear, for me it was 64K mi. before I put on my new ones. :)

I would agree with ptjones on this subject. Thanks for the welcome Adrian_L

  7. As a new member here I find all of this very disturbing from both sides. I don't want to be bothered with this type of activity and maybe I am way off base in my views from reading all of these posts.

It we differ that much on opinion will we all be banned for our views and difference of opinion. Kind of looks like few members had a clash and held a grudge about it. I hope I never find myself in this type of situation.  I guess it gets tempers up when your vehicle is in the shop without resolve over a long period of time.  Hope this isn't a place were we let anger from other places get the better of us.

    Cheers

  8. The Owners manual says 150K, but I think I'm going to check the color of the fluid by sticking a Qtip thru the Oil leveling plug hole. I'm thinking now that I need to do a back flush on the Trans Fluid cooler to make sure their aren't any blockages in the Cooler which might account for higher than normal TFT's.

I wouldn't think you would need to change the Trans Fluid for a while, it's not to hard to check, read above. :)

    Paul

I wonder if the cooler has a thermostat ? If it does (most do) you won't be able to flush it.
