  1. I occasionally go to a drive in and realized this was going to be an issue, when I bought the car. Unfortunately, on the SEL there is nothing you can do. With the SE (which has a physical key), they still have an accessory mode that should work. I still may go to a drive in but the only option, that I'm aware of, is to bring a portable FM radio.
  2. So we'll just add you together, say you are 99. ;)
  3. For those that have tinted their front windows, I'm curious what your experience has now been? Have you had any issues with police or during inspections? Has it caused any issues with visibility? I had 3M Crystalline 40 installed on all side and the back windows, which seems to be working well, but realize now that I should have had the pano roof done as well. I'm just trying to decide what darkness to put on the roof and whether to do the windshield, and what darkness if I do. The shop that put it on recommended the Crystalline 70 for the windshield, which it seems others here have done, and claim that the people they've done it for (in Texas) have had no issues. I was also thinking of 70 for the roof -- it seems to have good heat rejection while still allowing a good view out the roof. Any thoughts on this or other suggestions?
  4. And to Revanoff, congrats on the new C-Max. I'm guessing you'll quickly love it us much as the rest of us do.
  5. Just to make sure I understand, the official capacity of the C-Max Hybrid is 13.5 gallons. I'm curious if you are confusing it with the C-Max Energi, which does have a 14 gallon tank, or if there is a .5 gallon reserve that Ford does not count as part of the official capacity? ,
  6. If you have an SE, you obviously don't need the Sony sound system to get Nav. However, on the SEL, I believe he is correct. I don't believe the Navigation can be added as a separate option but rather you have to have, at least, the 301A package (or 203A on the SE).
  7. With the 300A package, I don't believe it has Navigation. Then again, another easy way to find out if Navigation is installed is to pull up the Window Sticker on one of the Ford Sticker lookup sites, like this one.
  8. Actually, we have the smaller C-Max body here in the US. The Grand C-Max is a little bit longer, it also has the sliding rear doors. If you look at the European specs, the Grand C-Max is 4520mm long, which is about 4" longer than our C-Max (177.9" compared to 174"). Our C-Max is slightly longer than the European C-Max (about 1.5") but, from what I've seen, that is because of larger bumpers on the car so that they meet US collision requirements; if our Hybrid used the Grand C-Max body, it would likely be about 179.5" long.
  9. Doing the brakes doesn't make sense to me, unless there is some other type of "damage" to the brakes. I seem to recall some members here have over 100,000 miles on the original brakes; because of the regenerative braking, the brakes wear very slowly. I'd definitely ask about the brakes and why they felt they needed to be serviced.
  10. If I understand correctly, you are talking about the parking lights (double headlights with eyelashes). The switch positions are Off, Parking Lights, On, and (if equipped) Automatic.
  11. It seems crazy to me that they only had the Lifetime Summary on the 2013 MY. This is definitely something I'd like to see come back.
  12. What I'm curious about, why are people in Florida searching Hyundai?
  13. ZEV states are states that require manufacturers to have a percentage of Zero Emissions Vehicles be part of their overall sales in their state. It is basically an outgrowth of the old California emissions standards, which other states have now adopted. From what I have read, driving the C-Max Energi on electric, with electric prices at $0.10 per kWh, will cost under $1 to fully charge -- for 100 miles (roughly 5 charges) it is around $4 for the electricity. These numbers are for the C-Max, for more efficient cars (such as a Volt or Tesla) it can be as low as $2.50 to travel 100 miles.
  14. It appears this could be a nice replacement, if it works out as stated in the proposal. One of the big issues will be getting prices down. The big advantage, it appears this battery would have prevented the 12V battery issues that have plagued (at least some) the C-Max.
  15. I'd love to see the options that are available on the Fusion -- things like cross traffic alert/blind spot monitoring, Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, etc. It would also be nice if cooled seats were an option. A bit more storage in the front seat area would also be nice; for example, perhaps an area for a cell phone with an inductive charge pad. I'd like to have the 3rd(?) generation C-Max body from Europe, with what I feel is a better looking front end. At the same time, maybe base the C-Max hybrid off of the Grand C-Max; which largely means having an extra 5-6" in length (and maybe the sliding rear doors, but that isn't required). We could have less of a battery "bump" in back, likely with even a larger battery pack. Last, though this may have been partially fixed in newer C-Maxes, I'd like to see the C-Max better handle transmission temperature; in particular, it would be nice to have an electric oil pump, like the Energi. For the most part I'm very happy with the C-Max and really don't want much in the way of drastic changes.
  16. I probably should have added that I don't necessarily disagree with you, at least in terms of driving the way you are comfortable with. That is one of the advantages of the C-Max, you have a choice to drive it for max MPGs, to drive it like you stole it (as well as some decent power), or somewhere in between, and still be able to improve your fuel economy over a gas only powered car. In my case, I try to drive efficiently, but with fast enough acceleration and speeds that I don't enrage those behind me. It seems to be impossible to make everyone else on the road happy with the way you drive; there are those that think you aren't going fast enough unless you are going X miles over the speed limit, and then others that will camp out in the left lane going the speed limit trying to slow traffic down. Even going 10 or more miles over the speed limit, you can still have people upset and tailgate you for not going "fast enough". Even before I drove efficiently, I typically tried to drive smart (things like timing lights on commutes I frequently took, etc.). Even before buying a hybrid, I noticed how many people hurry up to red lights -- as if the light is going to change faster if they get in line for the light sooner. One example I remember, though, is heading toward work and having a coworker pass me up a couple of miles before we got there, but then we drove up basically together. If I remember, I actually was ahead because he had to stop at the last light, where I had timed it well. When he asked how I did it, I explained that the lights were timed so, if you drove at the right (slower) speed, you would hit all the lights and not have to stop -- rather than driving faster and having to stop at almost every light. Unfortunately, it seems most Americans (at least in states I've lived in) tend to think they need to drive faster, even if they stop at every light.
  17. The point isn't that it costs more than what you might keep in the car, rather that it costs less than the window they'd break. ;)
  18. As markd stated, you will still get the traffic updates, even if the "Entertainment" is completely off, it knows to grab traffic if you are using Navigation. I suppose I should add the caveat that this is only in large cities, you can see the list of covered cities here. As I mentioned on another thread, you also need to subscribe to Sirius Traffic -- if you are currently using Sirius make sure traffic is enabled on your account. If you don't have Sirius, you should be able to get a free trial that will include both traffic and POI information. When you get a traffic alert, it will put a pop up on the screen telling you basics of the traffic issue (accident, blocked lane, etc.) and have three buttons: Details, Avoid, and Ignore. While fairly obvious, Details will give more information; Avoid will recalculate your route, changing the route if another is now faster; and Ignore will keep you on your current routing despite the delay.
  19. I'm going to disagree with you a bit here. Granted, if you are in mildly heavy traffic, then I can see wanting the Cruise Control running a constant speed. OTOH, Eco Cruise only slows down/speeds up on hills -- and to some degree pretty much all Cruise Controls have that issue. There is almost always a lag between climbing a hill and the cruise control realizing you are going up a hill, the only question is how much delay there is and how the cruise control responds. The other thought is, unless the person is wanting to stay right on your tail, it shouldn't effect them much anyway. If they are staying a constant speed, while the distance they are following you may not remain constant, the shouldn't have too many issues. The Cruise Control has the delay going uphill, and goes uphill about slower -- so it will force the car behind to slow down. However, on the downhill side, the Cruise Control allows a faster speed as it has a similar delay going down the hill -- you should gain distance between you and the car behind you. For a full hill, the speed should average out. Personally, I "upset" people more just trying to anticipate lights, where I let off the gas, to coast, well before a red light to try and keep from needing to fully stop. It amazes me how many people will race around me, basically rushing to get to the red light, just so they have to stop hard and then sit and wait for the light to turn -- but at least they are one car closer to "the front of the line".
  20. The Eco Cruise is an "option" of the normal cruise control. If it is turned on, you will see "ECO" printed vertically on the far left of the driver display when using cruise control. If it isn't on, use the left steering wheel circle to move the display to "Settings", "Driver Assist", and on that screen there will be an option to turn Eco Cruise on and off (I believe this is consistent on all model years).
  21. If the car came with Navigation, you need to have SiriusXM Traffic activated. If you have the subscription activated, it will come up and warn you of traffic incidents and give you the option of recalculating your route. If you bought your C-Max used, you likely can get a free trial (I believe 2 months) by signing up at SiriusXM, after which you will need to make sure you have a subscription to the Traffic service. You can buy a Traffic subscription without needing to be subscribed to the radio service.
  22. You might be misremembering. All Energi's are SEL models but they have the same packages as the C-Max SEL Hybrid -- so you need at least the 302A package on the Energi to get a backup camera.
  23. As markd mentioned, you can get updates through Sirius XM traffic. OTOH, there are a lot of complaints that the traffic information is not accurate or updates too slowly.
  24. The heater in the C-Max hybrid uses the heat from the ICE, so you use more gas for the first several miles to keep warm air blowing in the cabin. The heater in the Energi is an electric heater, so it does not need the ICE so long as you are connected to power or have sufficient charge in the battery. From what I know, the heater doesn't need more power than a 110V outlet will provide. For the few miles you drive daily, plus the fact that it isn't an electric only vehicle, I don't see why you would need the 240V charger. From the miles you say you drive, you should just be able to plug in the Energi in overnight and it will fully charge. In fact, if your workplace has a spot for electric vehicles to charge, I could see where you would not even need to charge the car at home, at least most of the time. Also, if you haven't found it, you can plug your Energi in to the wall when you get home but not have it charge until electric prices go down at night; you can actually schedule the time you want your car to charge.
