  1. Ok, let's see if this works. It's behind the shift, to the right. I couldn't see it from the driver's seat. (sez I'm not permitted to upload this kind of file. But if you've downloaded the owner's manual, it's on page 221 under Parking Aids Yeah, car washes, drive in windows at the pharmacy, you name it. But you have to get reallllllly close (or be an icicle) to make it a single sustained tone. Otherwise it's a beep........beep.
  2. My salesman told me yesterday that he was completing a 40-question test to be certified to sell the C-Max.
  3. Found it! I couldn't see the button with the *P* in the dark from the drivers seat this morning, so I went out at lunch and sat in the passenger seat. And I found the reference in the manual about it.....under Parking Aides, not under alarms, or sensors, or any of the other things I was looking up in the index. And it does say to keep them free from ice and snow, dirt and leaves and such. So the sensor was reacting to the icicle as tho it were a pole only 1 inch away.....and staying on one sustained tone. Also, as I was about to send an email to the technician about it, he called me to find out if I had had any more trouble with the noise since last night. How's that for good customer care?
  4. Well, thanks guys! I :worship: knew I came to the right place! Now if it happens again, I'll just push that button.
  5. Zhack, If I turn that off, will it turn off the proximity alarm completely? If so, I don't want it. I'll wait for Paul to come up with a fix, since I seem to be the only owner on the forum with this problem. And as for the 65 in reverse on the expressway.............if you haven't tried it, don't knock it :yahoo:
  6. OK, so you know how frustrating it is to take your car to the shop for a noise or whatever and it won't do it for the technician? :rant2: Wellllllll I did not have that problem today. I left work early to go to the dealership to try to find out what the irritating, single sustained tone was and in the 20 minutes it took to get there, the noise happened 6 times....in reverse with no cars nearby, driving on the expressway @ 65mph, once when I tried to activate SYNC to turn down the fan. Thankfully, when I got the technician in the car with me, it kept up it's stellar performance. He was able to duplicate it going from neutral to drive and going into a hard stop. I have to commend him, because he was committed to finding out what caused the noise. :worship: Finally, we isolated it to the front proximity sensor, (which sounds different from the rear proximity sensor, in case you didn't know ) He knocked some ice build-up off it and I could hear the tone change. He's going to research it some more and I'm going to report back in a few days and keep track if it does it again and under what circumstances. So, note to all you C-Max owners in the northern climes.........if you hear a sustained tone like this, check the sensors for icicles  Lord, I can't wait for SPRING! :angry2:
  7. Talked to a guy in the service dept. at my dealership today about the weird noise (which happened 3 more times over the weekend and twice this morning. He said to bring it by this afternoon and he'll put it on the computer to see if there are any alerts or codes.
  8. And just think how much farther ahead of the game you'll be for all these months of reading the forum!! No learning curve for you! You'll hit the ground runnin'..............in EV mode, of course
  9. Thanks Jus, It was probably her slowest 5k since 8th grade. The ice on the roads was terrible and she didn't wear her screw shoes, so she was being super cautious..........which is exactly what we told her to do. She wasn't running for a PR, just a fun run, and her first race of 2013. Thanks for the info about the Skechers. And thanks Dave and Rachel for the kind words. :)
  10. Welcome, and congratulations Rums54! There is a lot of information here, enuf to satisfy you for a week or 2 while you wait :>)And lots of knowledgeable people to bounce questions off of.
  11. Our daughter had a 5k run in Novi, MI this morning, about 37 miles away so we took the C-Max. It was mostly highway driving and the temperature was +4*. There were 3 of us in the car, using defrost, bun warmers x2 and the heater, driving 65 mph on the higway portion, 40-45 on the back roads. During the race Jerry and I warmed up in the car, running the engine, then we drove back. Temps were only slightly better...maybe +10* but the sun was out. Still 65mph. This was a fresh tank of gas. 33mpg for the round trip. The navigation worked perfectly, and we were able to talk to the grandparents on the way home SYNCd with the phone. The car was so quiet and such a pleasure to drive (well, except for the Michigan roads :redcard: ) I am really, really happy with this car :wub2:
  12. I stalked, literally stalked, the dealerships in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana while waiting for mine. Never found anything even close to what I was ordering. It kept me busy tho  Thankfully it only took 6 weeks for mine to arrive :wub2: But I definitely recommend doing your own research.
  13. MAXer......has a nice ring to it. I like it too! :worship:
  14. Several times, both while on the phone thru SYNC and while off, the car made a long, sustained, single note loud sound. If I was on the phone it muted the caller's voice. There were no lights flashing or alerts that I could see. Once when I was talking to Jerry I couldn't hear him until the sound went away. Anyone else have anything like that happen? Then, after a stop, SYNC did a *Scheduled maintenance*. Ok, fine, but when it came back on, I couldn't activate SYNC with the paddle. It showed that my phone was connected but I couldn't do anything. The radio wouldn't come on. GPS was working,, as far as being able to see where I was on the map, but that's all., Climate worked. I turned the car off and back on but the same thing. It took a stop of about 15 min. while I went into a store for it to reset itself and bring back the radio and phone functions.......Wacko!! :rant2:
  15. So, my C-Max was doing the same thing again today and just to check, I switched off the Climate and EV immediately switched on. I turned CLimate back on, low fan, and EV stayed and acted normal.
  16. Nascar36, I'm seeing the same thing here, unfortunately we won't have steady temps in the 40s and 50s for a while yet. We're back to teens and single digits this week  Congrats on the great mileage! It just shows the naysayers what CAN be done!
  17. Thanks so much for posting this! I was experiencing exactly the same thing, both last night and this morning but I hadn't had a chance to post yet. I'm in SE Michigan, and the temps were single digits w/windchills below 0. The battery would charge almost to full before switching over to EV mode. We had some severely cold days a few weeks ago, but my car didn't behave this way then.
  18. I read somewhere that you can activate SYNC and say *switch to Phone* but I haven't tried it yet.
  19. Meeting with the IT guy had to be postponed due to family illness (my fam). Next appt. in 2.7.13
  20. I did, and mine beeps when it's started. I've only used it a few times, a couple of weeks ago, but probably will again tomorrow, given the temps.
  21. hmatthews, what does the dealership say? When mine was at that stage, I offered to go pick it up myself, but they told me no :sos: Hope you get yours soon! We need more of us here in MI!
  22. OK, gotta ask...........what does that mean? Pinterest?
  23. So happy and excited for you Rachel!!! Now we can start the countdown in *Days*!!!
