  1. Go Mama - you've done good ! :congrats: Enjoy all of the new C-Max features and how well it works for you; the better MPGs will obviously be this Spring, Summer and Fall. , Nick
  2. :congrats: & welcome MadMax14. Our first hybrid (& Ford), and yes, we're still impressed too. A beautiful combination of features and acceleration. Nick

  4. Merry Christmas (& happy holidays) to all as well ! Christmas shopping earlier this week, temp a frigid 45-50, 10 miles freeway, the rest arterials, lots of traffic and lights, parking......two cold starts .......... :love_shower: our four season C-Max !!! (Yikes, no eggs from the real winterites please. Just cool, wet miserable weather all year round here). in :bliss: Nick (PS We miss you Adair, greetings and hope to see you back again someday !)
  5. :congrats: morman15 & Welcome ! Great choice of a brilliant car !!! Sadly, still a mystery car for most, but still the only tall box, primo entry, maxo greenhouse hybrid with combined spunk and utility out there. Trust you are figuring it all out. Be patient with the gas mileage understanding that winter will sap some of it. NTL, think efficient driving, and it will reward you all year round, well at least three seasons anyway ;). Nick
  6. Jus, the pine cone fiber version is slated for gen III priiuus (or would that be IV), so pine away ................ (some parts edible ?)
  7. Buy high, sell low never worked for me. ;) Buy high :spend: (2-5 k loss), trade in early :spend:(2-5 k loss), repurchase alternative :spend: (2-5k loss); zingo there goes 5 to 15k pooooof in two years. (Territory for deep pockets, or serious experts only) As has been said, it is the same for about 99% of all new cars, they lose significant value driving off the lot. Far better to buy used if you can't take the heat (financial risk) in the new car kitchen !!! Yes they are an 'investment' - lifestyle, utility, work, 'saving the planet' ...................and generally speaking a 'losing' one if not planned carefully (not just talking $$$). Our best car (used, of course) cost $4,000 and we sold it for $8,000 15+- years later without putting major work into it. Key here is the word hybrid. Purchased carefully, they have proven to be good 'investments' thanks to Toyota, Ford & Honda. That means low upkeep and long life. Buying for the short term :spend: only passes value on to the second owner - hmmmm, OK, a rather benevolent gesture if so intended. :) And we all know who has the best hybrid package out there over the last two three years - with space, speed, safety, ride, range, drivability ........... (& it is beautiful too!)..................the C-Max Hybrid and the C-Max Energi by far !!! Nick (Yes indeed, some great prices out there right now on a brilliant car)
  8. Great to see you are 'Maxing out' your C-Max CAcreeks- would like to see some photos with it geared up with 3 kayaks. I agree it would be very nice if we had the Grand C-Max here as well. Nick

  10. Custom orange in Ventura, CA. Drove a rental Focus for 8 days - oh my aching head, wapped it about 33 times getting in !
  11. Scott, keep in mind that most of these exceptionally high MPG numbers are just that - exceptional. They are usually the result of rolling / EVing downhill on short trips (as the title shows); and these are usually followed up by 30+- MPG trips regaining the elevation. What really matters is looped trips (returning to the starting elevation), full tanks, and MPGs over time. Your 45-55 numbers are dead on for good driving of a great C-Max, and you are to be commended :hat_tip: for achieving that consistently (subject to weather, loads ..................., of course). Now taking a few C Max trips with Jus or Matt or ....... , that would be another matter. ;) ; and Kelley with a run of 65 MPG out, and 62 MPG back, that is very, very good. Three :hat_tip: :hat_tip: :hat_tip: to those folks for truly setting the highest standard of good (supremely efficient) driving. Nick
  12. Phew,.......... that was close, thought about buying silver; sooo glad we got Sterling Gray, and not silver. ;) Nick (do love the other colors too)
  13. Speaking of ............................ just researching a bit on rentals, anyone seen 'fair' pricing on renting C-Maxes from the national rental brands? Rent-A-Tes: if you are in Lala land and are so inclined http://www.simplyhybrid.com/ Definitely not shopping to rent a Tesla; per usual, we always cheap out on far, far lesser vehicles ;). Nick
  14. Could not agree more Foto !!! The last 3,4,5 rentals or loaners really let us know how much we love our C-Max. A 2013 VW Jetta in CA, boring, cheap, & bonk in the head, let me out-a-here. A 2013 Nissan Rouge in HI, drove well, but low tech, a bit tinny, oh my aching back seats, nothing appealing. Another CA rental, hmm :headscratch: , so forgettable I've forgotten what it was. A couple noisy Scion boxes ........ :runaway: :runaway: :runaway: ......... Gotta get back to my dream MPG machine, our C-Max ! Nick
  15. & here. 1318 'standard issue' C-Max Hybrids sold in October, up a scosh from September in a tough ('down') hybrid market; a market 'segment' getting more crowded as well. http://www.hybridcars.com/october-2014-dashboard/ Hybrid (non plugin) Market share: Sep2014 Oct2014 C-Max 3.53% 4.27% Ford (C-Max, Fusion & Linc. Mkz) 11.87% 13.41% Toyota 65.49% 64.49%
  16. Hope we don't get too many people cornfused here. I don't recall exactly how long it took our GPS X icon (GPS Module/satellite lock symbol ?) to resolve/reset/reboot (?) itself, but I believe it was just a matter of minutes - no operator action required. The A4 or A5 Nav Card on the other hand can be bumped and eject; and shut the whole combined system down (GPS/NAV Mapping). Once reinserted it is only a few moments for it to kick the nav screen back on. Two different, yet related phenomena. Noting of course that our 'guidance system' is a marriage of two fundamental partners; 'accurate' real time point positioning on the face of the planet (GPS augmented for navigational purposes), and 'more accurate' mapping enabled by those same positioning systems (augmented for mapping purposes). Still room for error on either end of that marital bliss (and everywhere in between ;) :jump_earth: solar flares, earth wobbles, satellite positioning ............................). Out of date, & often wet, Nick (Frank, did you mean to type Nav Card, rather than "GPS Card" ?)
  17. Jus, I agree with Frank, we will all get the GPS 'loss of lock' X on occasion (whatever it actually represents); perhaps twice that I have noticed. Nothing to get too excited about. GPS is not a 100 % thing; same applies to much of our on-board electronics. I got the larger 'no nav' screen once because I had accidentally dislodged the Nav Card - spooked me at first though. The Nav card slot is in the center console as I'm sure you have found by now. Nick
  18. I second that - big time C-Max kudos to your wife !!! :salute: :salute: :salute:
  19. :congrats: Rick, you got the right one, and you know how to drive it !!! 640 on the first tank, yaosa, that is good. Enjoy the ride. Nick
  20. Not bad. Beautifully done, great settings, simple, elegant - short though. Hey, that was our C-Max !!! I noticed full page adds in two magazines lately - I believe it was Sunset & Nat. Geog. Traveler.
  21. Great report Jus. Crazy good numbers for loading Maxine 'to the gills', climbing passes ................. BTW, our Lifetime MPG ticked up again yesterday, now 48.6 - crazy, impossible ...... Crazy good car Grouper is, and getting better every day !!! I like how you broke it out to freeway, highway, city. :) Nick
  22. Way to go Marc, you are cruising now, 640 is great, and nothing like breaking into the 50+mpgs on the tank gauge - other than 60, of course ;). Nick
  23. Very good note ChrisMax ! and for those getting higher MPGs, an even greater superiority of the C-Max to the Prius; entry, driving experience, visibility, features, ..................... all across the board.
  24. Keep a stiff upper lip, TIP - says Grouper. Hope you find another wonderful home. Congrats on the new wheels Laurel - and a C-Max cousin no less (good DNA & some common components perhaps), being built on the same C platform as the C-Max, Focus, Escape & Transit Connect ( if wiki has it correct - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_C1_platform or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ford_platforms Don't push the wrong button on that fancy thing or it might ??? Nick (PS You might want to spare us the gory details of the deal, at two years, it is a recipe guaranteed to be very ugly)
  25. Welcome aboard Ger. Now, if only you can escape the clutches of Priiiiworld there in sunny SoCal. Not sure if I'm allergic to them or if it is just that velour (or is it velourette ?) inside them - gives me the creepy shivers just glancing in them. Are you good for a C-Max Ger ? Enjoy the forum, Nick ((Yesterday noticed a tow truck in the neighborhood stopped at neighbor Colin's house. Had to see what was up and asked Colin - their Priiius had a dead 12 volt battery and was being towed to the dealer. I have to get more of that story next time I see him))
