I'll 'second' the 'be careful what you don't get' conversation. The 'unnecessary' items, may become 'necessary some day, or at least standard equip. in very short order on many cars. Hope you get your situation sorted out LU. (Go for that push button start, way to cool; and don't worry about the chair memory - maybe it can be upgraded in the future) Gizmobiling, and love all of the features. Nick

That's a hoot, or should I say hoof. Great use of EV! Nick

Congrats Altazi, & welcome to the forum. Best of luck & enjoy the new ride. What a radical difference from the F350 to the C-Max. The C-Max is great in traffic, & the sound system should make it even better. Pack a thumb drive with music and you are set. Nick

Salsaguy, not to answer for Scuba, but give you my opinion on the pano roof. We have always had a sunroof, swear by them, so I did not want the C-Max Pano either because it did not open. Then my wife test drove, and loved the pano for two reasons; first it allows in much more light, a highly valued commodity here in the deep dark North; secondly, there are two overhead 'map' lights with the pano instead of one in the non-pano roof. ( A third reason for us was that it came with the dealer car we chose which was priced very low, so we got it at a major discount ) I have found that the air system & windows do a good job of ventilation, and we don't miss the open sunroof. Welcome. Enjoyed your comments Jim. When I first 'fell into' a C-Max, and I say that kindly, I was astounded - how could it be so easy / why aren't all cars this easy, or at least more of them. Still love the entry, and I'm only 6'1". I fully expected only about 38 mpg, and am now teetering on 44 (lifetime shows 46 & still climbing). I find it easy to get 45 to 60 around town & in rural settings, but guess I'm only getting about 42-44 on freeway. Yes, seems like a very solid ride. Wish the left armrest was designed for a real arm. Enjoy. Nick

In catch-up mode here - a bit confused. Scheduled my 3.5.1 update for next week. Is 3.5.1 necessary for 3.6, or could we skip it and just wait for 3.6? In other words, does 3.6 make 3.5.1 redundant / unnecessary? Ok, lets's see: Liftgate update, MFT 3.5.1 update, coming soon FE update, and coming sometime after that MFT 3.6 update. This will certainly let me / us know how well the updating system is going to work, and whether our dealers are up to the challenge. Hope it is all 'steps forward', and not a computer (upgrade) nightmare. Nick

NCost, But what does your wife think? No, it is not a Prius; thankfully so, a much more dynamic vehicle with so many other great features. I sympathize, but only to a point - most EPA numbers are 'unreliable' - simply comparative in value. Hope you researched your purchase. If the myriad of other features don't matter, I am also glad you just leased it - dump it and get a 'real car', a 'drive by committee' dashed Prius. Otherwise, there are lots of tips here to help your cause and new Ford updates that will help. I am certain that you could easily exceed 40 MPG's, and well beyond that, if you want to. Best of luck. Nick

ScubaDad, any chance you could re-shoot that last photo, it is such a small file that the detail is lost. The canvas solution, hmmmm? Thanks, Nick

Had to look up Kahlotus. Must be a bit warm over there these days. I grew up in Eastern Wa., and still love traveling on your side of the Cascades. Nick

Welcome Mnrobitalle. Great story. We similarly were smitten just getting in the C-Max with the great entry - and it only got better as we absorbed the cockpit and features. We also went for the 303A, because we got such a great discounted price. I could sell a bundle of them if I staged it on certain street corners around here. Zowwy, that's a lot of miles. Best of luck and hope the dealership takes really good care of your C-Max. Nick

What kind of cell phone do you have?
C-MaxSea replied to Adair's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Another vote here for Samsung Galaxy Note with Jelly Bean. Unlocked international version, no plan, no monthly fee, cheap, cheap, cheap. (I also got a terrific deal on my C-Max). Drop a hundred bucks in the meter a couple times a year............. have not had any issues with connectivity, but only use basic functions. Cheap Nick -
Dang oldlo, very jealous here, sure wish I could toss our front plate. Enjoy! Nick

Have had several opening sunroofs - absolutely love them/swear by them (Volvos, BMW, Audi..). That said, I was determined to not get the C-Max with a 'fake' one - that is until we sat in a C-Max with the pano roof and realized we had to have it for the light and roominess it provides (& an extra map light). Very pleased we got it, and who knows, maybe we will have an opening sunroof installed someday - although I would prefer a solar panel now for some extra juice! Love our pano roof, plenty of other air options. Nick (PS :future: 2014 or 2015 or 2016 will have the full opener one as an option; or better yet a solar panel option :secret:)

Hey Noah, I still get tweaked when I see other C-Maxs, even though there are more & more. (I think someone here on the forum has a 'twin' in there own driveway.) I have a 'twin' on my block here in Seattle, color, interior, options - have only had a couple short chats (been so busy), but I think it is identical and only about five houses away. Time to compare notes with them in detail. Like the Blueberry name. Nick

Like it - the "or perhaps a lower mount altogether" option. Tell us about your install and maybe a side photo. Good work! Nick

Finally saw our first one in Vancouver
C-MaxSea replied to Laurel's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Laurel, sorry to hear of the less than expected reception. We have been in your 'neighborhood' twice now, so perhaps next time it will be us you see. We like the ice cream/gelato stop in Ocean Park, west of White Rock. Better luck next time, I've got to believe you will see many more someday soon. Nick -
Low miler here, but MPG continues to creep up. I hoped for 40, thought when my 'Lifetime' crept up from 43 to 44 that it would be a short visit. Now it has crept up to 46 (44 at pump). Getting easier to get 48 to 52 these days. (Began lifetime at approx. 180 m on the odometer, delivery was 115 m) As I have mentioned before, elevation is a huge factor in short trip readings(all that great science stuff kinetic/potential energy....); therefore I only post loops, because they neutralize elevation differences. Love the 50+ loops!

2013 Ford C-Max vs. 2013 Toyota Prius v Comparison Test
C-MaxSea replied to HannahWCU's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Nicely said PapaJ. (I prefer to refer to it as a hatchback (hate the term minivan, just don't think it fits, but that is just me perhaps)). Great analogy Jus. Sad to think that even cars are victims of political correctness. nick -
Great start Vienna. Welcome to Gizmobiling at its best! Nick

Bainbridge Island sightings.
C-MaxSea replied to viennacoup's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Hello Vienna from little ol Ballard. Between Bainbridge & Ballard, yes a ton of Prii. If they only knew what they were missing! Glad to see our C-Max making waves over there - a six pack, not bad at all, and a nice assortment of colors too. Check in to the Puget Sound Area group here under the regional listings sometime. Sure would like to get some small group things going to share a bit of local C-Max experience & stories. Welcome, Nick PS Great Fuelly mpg 'right out of the gate'!!! -
Journey to 800+ Miles on a single tank in a C-Max Hybrid
C-MaxSea replied to Jus-A-CMax's topic in Fuel Mileage
Ditto SnowStorm's Jus' Awesome! Congratulations Jus! Take a break, grab a freeway and let her fly for a change of pace. Nick -
Zhack, I think that is what happened and explains half of my mysterious event, I do think it said "performing scheduled maintenance"; Perhaps as follows: the mileage countdown to 0 was the 'fault' which kicked in the 'reboot', therefore making it appear to have something to do with gas consumption. That would then only leave the gas consumption tracking and fill-up discrepancies. My take now would be that perhaps some of the discrepancy was the pump (say 50% or a couple tenths of a gallon), and the rest is with the overly optimistic algorithms of the car. The final question remains for me; why would the car have two differing calculations for miles left in the tank & gallons consumed. Hmmmm does it work on a model with a set 'full' number, or does it 'measure' the fullness of the tank? I thought it was interesting that after I filled up it showed 671 miles 'remaining'. I will be noting that on the next fill ups to see how it varies. Nick

Sadly, I was a bit shaken in the moment, not wanting to drive off the road, that I did not get good reads on the MFT notices; but, I believe it said something about 'routine' .............. Could it have been, by sheer coincidence, that re-calibration thingy? I doubt it was that, since it seemed to coincide with the 'miles left' countdown. On the other hand, it does not make sense that the countdown would differ that much from the 'gallons used' either - shouldn't those two relate directly? A head scratcher, Anyway, BEAM ME UP JUS - add me on to that 'honor roll'! Nick
