  1. After reading in another thread about how to get into your car if you have a dead battery, I checked our FOB's to look for the mechanical key blades that are supposed to be inside the FOB.  Ours were missing in the two that we have.  We have a SEL so you need to squeeze on each side of your FOB and the Ford insignia pops off.  Page 57 of the owner's manual shows that the SEL has type 1 FOB.

I left a phone message for our salesman saying our mechanical keys are missing.  We went out and he left a phone message saying that the key slides out at the top.  No, not true with type 1.  We drove to the dealership and they queried whether we had lost them, but then in the next breath said something to the effect this  happened before.  So it took a half hour of them fiddling around--going out to check the car in case they were in the glove box (we already had checked there).  Then they said they would order them and it would take about a week.  In the real world that likely means a month.  So my advice is that everyone should check for the mechanical keys as we are hooped if we have a dead battery without them.

Thanks for the "heads up", I had to go look!  I guess I was lucky, it was there!

    Thanks again!

  2. Went to start my C-Max a few hours ago and was greeted with a red triangle and "stop safely now" message.. After 5 attempts, the car started and the message disappeared and hasn't popped back up. Owners manual points to an electrical component fault/failure. The manual doesn't say to take any type of action. Has anyone else experience this?

Had same when my Max was 10days old....2 weeks later :nonono:  the backordered part (BCM..?) finally arrived from Ford.  No problems since  .

Wish I had the Jeep, my loaner was a 1/2 ton HD diesel truck!...12.8 mpg :rant2: !  I got it up to 14.1mpg over the 2 weeks! :happy feet:

  3. Please post your experiences with a dealer you would recommend for buying and servicing a C-Max.

So far I have had excellent experience with Bankston Ford of Frisco, Texas. Dropped my C-Max off today and promptly was given a loaner.

BobTomes Ford of McKinney, Texas I cannot recommend. Tried to schedule service at BobTomes Ford of McKinney today to resolve my C-Max Check Engine light. Explained that I needed a loaner and they told me they do not give loaners without an extended warranty and hung up on me. Very rude.

    Your's in shop too?

took mine in 1/10......anamolous stop signal (book said electrical malfunction).

Anyway, 5Star Ford on Plano Pkwy has it...offered a loaner but I declined.

will see how long it takes to find the "relacement module", hope Ford has parts available for the new guinea pigs they have on road!
