Did not hear this from my dealer. Have not seen anyone else mention this on this forum.

You only see the outside temp if it is turned on in the settings menu. When I had my 3.5.1 update done this feature was turned off. I had to go into the settings menu and turn this feature on in order to get the outside temp to appear.

It's at the bottom of the home screen just to the right of the home (house) icon and just to the left of the settings (gears) icon. Also, I think you only get this if you have the big (SYNC with My Ford Touch) screen in your car.

>>>I did notice that my headliner looks kind of bad: no finished edge at all. Are there any others out there getting anything done about this?>>> Not that I have seen posted on this forum - and if it has not been posted here it probably hasn't happened. I did spend 5 minutes this morning trying to figure out why all of a sudden there was a nice smooth rubber strip between the front edge of the headliner and the windshield - and then I realized I was sitting in my 1996 Honda Odyssey. Doh! >>>I read something about a SYNC update now producing a "status" display. How do you get to that? I've looked everywhere. Can't find it. >>> Status of what? Do you mean the power diagram that shows the flow of gasoline generated energy and electric energy? >>>This one is really stupid: I know that ICE means the gas engine, but what does it stand for?>>> Internal combustion engine.

Saw one in Myrtle Beach, SC
DaveofDurham replied to C-Maxgo's topic in Sightings - C-MAX Hybrid's Spotted!
Spotted this Saturday at the Hammock Shops in Pawleys Island, SC. That's my white NC C-Max and a blue SC C-Max. -
I looked at a news article and at the Honda website. I didn't see anything there about the new Accord being different in this respect. Then I looked a little more and found some articles that said that the new Accord is different and that the hybrid Civic is also different from previous Honda hybrids. Maybe I should ask Honda for $550 back on my 2000 Insight. With a mixed power system maybe the Insight would have been rated at 70mpg.

We finally did it! 605.9 miles @ 48.8mpg. 12.39 gallons used and 28 miles to empty. About 2/3 city miles and 1/3 highway miles on this tank.

Tool for the third dimension - mapping route altitude
DaveofDurham replied to fbov's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
So cool. Thanks. I checked out a drive I do several times a week and was surprised to find that my destination is almost 300 feet higher than my home. -
I HAVE FOUND THE ILLUSIVE MPG SWEET SPOT!
DaveofDurham replied to Generalbeluga's topic in Hybrid Driving Tips & Tricks
The sweet spot was believed to be illusive until it was discovered by Generalbeluga. -
Andy - Thank you for Fuelly and your attention to the C-Max data. I believe unconscious driving is severely frowned upon and results in really poor mpg or worse.

We let our Sirius subscription lapse and have no plans to renew, but I did see this on Facebook earlier today: >>>Have a road trip planned this Labor Day weekend? SiriusXM* Satellite Radio is offering two weeks of complimentary listening to all owners of 2009 model year or later equipped Ford vehicles August 27 – September 9. Get details: http://bit.ly/FordFreeListen >>> [or http://www.siriusxm.com/listen8 if the link above does not work] >>>So starting Tuesday, August 27 for two weeks, you get FREE access to 60 channels. All you have to do is turn your radio on and enjoy. It's really that easy.>>> I tried it this afternoon. It worked, but at times my screen had a message telling me my subscription had expired and asking if I wanted to call to renew.

Interesting info from Ford, but it seems to me to contradict Frank's (fbov's) explanation for 0-15mph above: "- accelerating to 0-15 MPH requires 1/4 the energy of accelerating 0-30 MPH. - accelerating to 15 MPH doesn't put enough load on the ICE to reach the minimal BSFC operating region - accelerating from 15-30 requires 3x the energy of 0-15 - the higher load pushes the ICE closer to the BSFC minima, increasing ICE efficiency"

Job 3 C-Maxes missing Lifetime Summary??
DaveofDurham replied to hybridbear's topic in General Discussion
We have 13B07 (and MFT 3.5.1) and we still have lifetime summary. -
I have only had it in the car for out of town trips. I have had it flat on the cargo floor with luggage on top. There are some nicer and more secure solutions in the "Spare Tire Solution for C-Max Hybrid." thread. For example, see photos in post #56 at http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/1116-spare-tire-solution-for-c-max-hybrid/page-3?hl=%20spare%20%20tire%20%20solution%20%20c-max%20%20hybrid.

Have you found your spare tire, jack and lug wrench :) If not, look at the threads titled "Spare Tire" and "Spare Tire Solution for C-Max Hybrid." Full disclosure - I knew about the Temporary Mobility Kit before I got my car because my salesperson showed it to me, but I didn't realize it was instead of, rather than in addition to, a spare tire, jack and lug wrench. [insert dope slap emoticon here] I learned that on this forum. Now I have a donut spare, jack and lug wrench for trips where I don't want to be without them.

Job 3 C-Maxes missing Lifetime Summary??
DaveofDurham replied to hybridbear's topic in General Discussion
I would be disappointed if I did not have a lifetime summary. I had it for 12 years on my 2000 Honda Insight and never reset it. I have no plans to reset it on my C-max either. -
I don't think that would help with the tree debris problem because leaves, pine needles, etc falling on the windshield can work there way down below the wipers and then get carried to the sides where they can obstruct the small drain holes.
-
Alternative spellings. American English vs British (Aussie) English. By the way, for getting to 600 and the appointments and using your Kroger points, did you consider the option of letting your Mom take the wheel while you pushed to maximize that last bit of gas?
-
Tree debris can be a serious problem. Take a look where the hood hinges connect to the body. There is a small drain opening in this area and it takes very little to block the drain and cause a pool of water to collect. Clearing the debris is difficult because it's hard to reach especially on the passenger side where the opening is reduced by the presence of the tube carrying windshield washer fluid. See earlier thread titled "tree debris". This happened to several of us in the spring when a lot of stuff was dropping from the trees. I had it happen again recently and the collected debris was a few pine needles and one very wet seed pod that had expanded when wet and set itself down on the drain opening. This promises to happen again in the fall.

Go to http://www.etis.ford.com/ I think the "E" is for European. The rest is explained as: "Welcome to FordEtis – the Online Technical Information and Services website from Ford." More importantly, select "vehicle" from the grey bar at the top and then enter your VIN. You will get back info on your vehicle.

Wow! And your last 70 miles are uphill!

Does 12M02 actually involve doing something to the car or is it just informing us of a longer warranty?

Recall 13B10 - Fuel Economy Goodwill Payment
DaveofDurham replied to ceemax71's topic in Fuel Mileage
Ford is already going to be sending owners/lessees checks which will likely be accompanied by an explanatory, perhaps even somewhat apologetic, cover letter - so if EPA or DOT compels them to provide an updated rating I hope Ford is allowed to do that in the same mailing as the check. -
Recall 13B10 - Fuel Economy Goodwill Payment
DaveofDurham replied to ceemax71's topic in Fuel Mileage
Since our cars are already off the lot and on the road, I don't think a replace the window sticker action would appear on ETIS for our cars.
