  1. Thank you Laurel. I closed it manually. Then I used the key fob to open it and then successfully used the key fob to close it. Maybe the closing problem will never happen again? I do still need to get the software update for the liftgate so we can single kick to open.
  2. I opened the liftgate by double pressing on my key fob. Tried to close it the same way - pressed twice but it didn't close. Tried pressing button on instrument panel - liftgate didn't close. Tried kicking under rear bumper - liftgate didn't close. Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? Is there a way to manually close the liftgate (without causing other problems)? Anyone know how to get the two lights in the cargo area to turn off so they are not sucking power out of my 12v battery all night?
  3. Also, look to the sides where the hood hinges go down to connect to the body. This area can get filled up with tree debris and easily cover or clog the drain hole/path. Tom and I have posted about this in a thread he started titled "tree debris". We both had this happen and found the tree junk causing a puddle of rainwater to collect. We each had our dealer clear this out. My service manager told me that having the drain hole/path blocked can result in water getting inside the vehicle (e.g., wet carpet and padding underneath).
  4. We got our letter today too. Is the CAT5 cable so they can get a direct high speed quality connection to Ford's server to do the updates? As opposed to doing the updates in some other way that is not as likely to produce a satisfactory result?
  5. Looks like it's time to start the C-Max Club of the Carolinas.
  6. We'd love to have a place to stay if we are ever lucky enough to get back to Vancouver. It's not even a 3,000 mile drive from Durham NC. (2,985 according to Google Maps)
  7. My C-Max parked in front of its fraternal twin brother - on Hunt St. in Durham NC
  8. I have had the same problem on several fill-ups. Slowing the flow and pulling the nozzle back a bit seemed to help.
  9. Thanks. Didn't know these existed. Is a user name or password needed? When I clicked on the link in your post I got this: An Error has been detected. You do not have permissions to this site/page orYour access permission may have timed out.
  10. What does calibrating the touch screen accomplish or change?
  11. Nice work for your first trip!
  12. Does your hybrid discount from Travelers appear as a separate line item on your bill or is it just factored into the policy cost like mine is?
  13. Noooooooooooooo! That's already been asked (by me) and answered (by Jus-A-Cmax) in this thread. Also in my opening post in thread titled: Take the C-Max 1,000 mile mpg challenge: "1,001.4 miles, 544.0 EV miles, 21.95 gallons gas, 45.6mpg [Disclosure - I started out trying to see if I could get a 600 mile tank. I was not interested in running my tank down to near empty or in carrying extra gas in my car, so I filled up at a little over 500 miles but did not reset the trip odometer. When I posted my result of 13.39 gallons for 614 miles (346.5 EV miles) at 45.8mpg on the 600 mile CMax Club thread, the Chief Empty Tank Line Judge (aka Jus-A-Cmax) threw down his penalty marker and gave me an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. I argued that I deserved extra credit because with my fill-up a little past the 500 mile mark I drove the last 100 miles with an extra 60 pounds of fuel mass, but the replay judge (is that you Adair?) ignored my plea. Lucky for me I didn't get a red card. I was still in the game and just let the trip odometer keep going until it got to 1,000 miles.]"
  14. Just entered the data for today's gas purchase on fuelly. I noticed that the 192 2013 C-Max hybrids have reported just under 960,000 miles of driving. The 1,000,000 mile mark is coming soon! Plus 44 2013 C-Max Energi have reported just over 210,000 miles. Interestingly, the average miles reported per vehicle is very close - 5,000 per vehicle for the hybrid and 4,800 per vehicle for the Energi.
  15. With the C-Max we can have all three.
  16. Brilliant! I will set up a PayPal account for you to make a donation to a garage construction fund for Tom and myself.
  17. Here are my photos. Sample of tree debris. Driver side. Passenger side (note hose for windshield washer fluid) - it's not clear in the photo but the passenger side debris is sitting in water that can't go down the blocked drain. The "drain" appears to be a narrow slit about 1/8 inch (or less) from side-to-side and about 1 inch front to back. I will see if I can get a picture of the drain.
  18. This is a big issue for me. We have lots of pine and other trees that shed in the spring and fall. I have noticed that the tree debris gravitates down to where the hood hinges connect to the body. On the driver side this area is very difficult to clean out. I can barely fit two finger into this space. The first time I cleaned it out I used a stick and a vacuum cleaner with the crevice tool attached. The passenger side is worse - the opening may be smaller and it is partially obstructed by the hose for the windshield washer fluid and the protective covering around the hose. We were just away for a few weeks. During that time the pines were shedding and it was raining a lot. My son drove the car twice a week and cleaned out some of the tree debris, but he did not get all the way down by the hinges. I looked under the hood Thursday and found wet debris on both sides. The drain opening on the passenger side was blocked so there was wet debris and a small lake full of rainwater. I brought the car to the dealer yesterday. They cleaned all the debris out and cleared the drain opening - no charge. This is a design flaw. There should be a screen to keep debris from getting down by the hinges - or more space to reach in to clean it out. We have battled these trees for 25+ years. All previous cars were easier to clean than the C-Max. I will look into screening off the hinge area or getting a partial (back edge of hood to front edge of roof) car cover. I have some photos that I will post soon.
  19. I am also a C-Maxer in NC (from U Ford in Durham). Nothing on my window sticker about a 5 foot tall wife being either standard or optional with vehicles purchased in NC, but that's exactly how tall my wife is. I am 5'9". Just a quick power seat adjustment and the C-Max is perfect for both of us.
  20. Press the lock button on your key fob twice. Yippie will say, "Beep. Beep." - that's C-Max speak for see you in the morning.
  21. Oh yeah, I forgot about the money. I really just meant that they could have done something (and charged you for the new tire) so that you would not have to go C-Max-less until Monday.
